    Luigi

  • sweet bro!!!

  • Great music.

  • great work. I do agree that the sequence starting at 1:23 is interpreted a bit differently than the piece on the album. but good job.

  • great job and thanks so much! do you have tabs for this? I have one, but your version has parts which are much simpler. i need the section from 1:12 to 1:31

  • wow, this is great. not to be a crank, but at 1:23 you don't hit the correct root note. i'm not sure what the actual note is, but you're just hitting the open string.

just trying to help. one thing about trying to ape cockburn's technique is precision, and he's a ninja about it. one thing i noticed he did with "foxglove" and other songs like this is that he rides the root up with the thumb of his left hand - it gives more comfort and freedom of movement. otherwise, flawless. cheers.

  • Cockburn hits the IV there (i.e. if you're playing in it E, he hits the barred open A chord. If you're playing in it f# as in this version, it would be the barred open B). he does it with a barre across the fifth fret, which he maintains until the end of the phrase. It's the hardest part of the song to play. It's what trips me up every time, and I've been trying to play this song properly for about seven years.

That's not to take anything away from this version, which is very sweet.

  • Good job!I only recently discovered a lot of the acoustic guitar stuff by Bruce Cockburn. I noticed you're in open E, I play my version in open D, but hey, it's all good!

  • Désolé Cockburn. ;-)

  • Great cover played expertly. You play well! A favorite Bruce Cockburn song of mine. Thanks for the videos!

How about Sunrise on the Mississippi?
