I just barely started watching Macross Frontier a few days ago. I didn't even know about this anime show until I accidentally stumbled upon some fan art on Macross Frontier. I must say that Gundam 00 seems to draw some of its roots from Macross Frontier such as certain themes. So far, I like Macross Frontier more than Gundam 00.

@thekatana09 You do realize that both series were almost produced at the same time, right? Gundam 00 came out in October 2007 and Macross Frontier came out in april 2008. Reguardless, both series were in production at the same time so really...both series couldn't have copied each other. However, the whole Songtress thing could actually be seen in Macross 7, but it was more firmly established in Gundam Seed. But the themes you see are more japanese anime themes then anything else.

Macross as a series does the Songstress/Musical thing, and has since the original Super-Dimensional Fortress Macross. It was originally intended as a parody of mecha anime like Mobile Suit Gundam, but ended up being a metaseries instead.
