(( Shame on you, Lynn Woolsey! I'm also in your district and have received your canned rejection letters of insult.
Woolsey demans that taxpayer-funded govt option be a part of health care care "reform". What she really wants is government takeover of our health care and our medical treatment options and choices that we currently enjoy.
All of this "reform" crap is not even about health care but is rather just another way 4 government to take control of our daily lives and hard work.
The second gal to speak was so worked up by the end of her speech she was shaking. Cross state insurance regulations are in place to make sure companies cannot monopolize and corner the market. This is a point that can be debated. But anyways, she goes from shaking to "WHOOP WHOOP!" to a cheering crowd, just like she was expecting. This seems a lil fishy, being timed RIGHT when congress comes back from vacation....
She was sooooo great -- soooooo dead on! ***I am proud of her! The dribbles int eh crowd were so sad that the truth was being unveiled. The hand outs may not be as they wished for.
hand outs? I hope you don't drive on any roads, use public transportation, expect to be protected by police and firemen, or go to the library, go to public school, or use the post office, because you should get off your ass, get a job, and pay for all those services yourself. 45,000 people die every year because they don't have and can't afford insurance. This is not the way things should be in America.
obama just called out the unions to help him pass this healthcare, be careful we have seen what they are capable of and why is the government giving money to ACORN to do the 2010 census when they can't even register people correctly, I hope this country survives till the 2010 election
Yes, and MOST of those uninsured are ILLEGALS that you invited here for Americans to pay their health care costs. WHAT PART OF "NO ILLEGALS" and no single pay do you not understand? It is obvious that you creeps in Congress ignore the people, and send out those idiotic form letters that mean NOTHING. Why don't you resign and move to MEXICO where you can represent them first-hand.
Almost anyone can be president as long as they meet three, and only three, basic requirements. They must be a natural born citizen of the United States and at least 35 years old. They must also have been a resident of this country for at least the last fourteen years. Of all the things our Founders could have required, they picked only these three
I stand corrected. You are right she is not a Senator. I also appreciate your genial tone. That is very nice and what is needed in this debate.
And of course I agree that people should be allowed to express their concerns. I just wish you had also upload a few clips of people at this meeting who were for reform.
The Post Office is a "Government run" business and both UPS, Fed Ex and dozes of smaller companies are all doing very well. Does the post office have an "unfair advantage?" Don't you worry, your precious insurance companies will still make hundreds of millions. But now the people will have at least one choice that won't turn us down for a pre existing condition.
do u know what a Fabian Socialist is, and who they support? The total number in the H of Reps is 92, they vote as Pelosi wishes. "Yes ma'am" type. Hey, don't believe me look her up on the net, watch her videos
"How is having a Government run institution that is not subject to the laws of the free market going to increase COMPETITION??!?! If they put this bill in as is they will drive the insurance companies out of business."
Well "rmeglath" let me explain: Look at the Post Office, they compete with Fed Ex and UPS. Both UPS and Fed Ex are thriving, but the Post Office keep them from charging $24 to overnight a package. Without the post office's cheaper overnight rates, Fed Ex would gouge us.
Why wouldn't FedEx keep UPS from gouging us, and UPS keep FedEx from gouging us? Where are the government grocery stores, the government barber shops, the government hamburger joints, the government clothing stores? These businesses are all gouging us without government competition!!!
Oh, and the Postal Service, which "doesn't gouge us" gets subsidized by THE TAXPAYER. (In case you hadn't heard, the taxpayer is YOU.)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Once again, we don't get to see the Senator's response to the crazy accusations made by these people. Makes you wonder why it was posted (answer: to try and trick people/sway them against a public plan). What's wrong GOP I thought you guys were for competition? You won't be "stuck with" a public plan, you can keep your own insurance if you like overpaying so much.
How is having a Government run institution that is not subject to the laws of the free market going to increase COMPETITION??!?! If they put this bill in as is they will drive the insurance companies out of business and then there will only be the Government "option". Why don't you "progressives" stop drinking the koolaid and actually try thinking for yourselves instead of letting Obama and MSNBC do your thinking for you?!
First, Lynn Woolsey is not a senator; she's a congresswoman, and her polite response to these people making their statements was simply to say "thank you." Secondly, in our democracy demonstrations from the opposition should be welcomed. Third, I am not with the GOP, nor do I agree with their position on this issue, but I do believe that people should be allowed to express their concerns when such drastic changes in something as important as our health care system are proposed. Am I wrong?
@MrNeska But they were expected to sit down and shut up or lose their jobs and lives BEFORE the reforms were proposed. Did you support that too? I'll take the answer as yes since it went on for years uninterrupted by "great patriots" like you who love free speech just not ALL free speech. Who love liberty and justice....just not liberty and justice for everyone. Bush put people in jail for speaking out against his crimes.
@MrNeska we should be allowed to express their concerns...I have one huge problem with what you commented on....you said in "our democracy" we are a REPUBLIC!
I was led to believe that this Congress Woman did NOT reply. This lady stated that many times she emailed the Congress Woman's office in opposition to bills and the Congress Woman's office thanked her for her support. She did NOT support her and yet she was thanked for her support! So much for listening to us folks!
The federal government is preventing competition by limiting where insurance companies can compete. In california you only have 6 out 1300 insurance companies! Thanks to the democrats we have High insurance rates and millions of uninsured.
That's a very good point and one that bears some thought. Logic would dictate that profit is a great motivator for invention. Profit is not the only motivator, however. A public plan, or whatever may happen, would not necessarily stop a company from inventing for profit, but I don't believe the profits would be as lucrative. I gues to answr te question, I believe medical advances would slow, but not halt. This could be alleviated through an international pooling of innovative resources.
FACT: The proportion of low income workers who were uninsured increased from 26 percent in 1996 to 34.5 percent by 2006. The average household income for a family in 2006 was $40,888. [Source: Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS) Chartbook 18.
The public option is the only thing that will halt this trend. Insurance company procedures are to DENY claims, DELAY payment, and DEFEND not paying for health payments. This cannot go on as is!
were do they get their numbers from..? I haven't answered a survey or questionaire so how do they know if you and I have or don't have insurance..? if this Health Care Fiasco goes through we will have lost the rest of what was the greatest country on earth.. the Tree of Liberty needs watering before it dies..
it amazes me that all these town halls seem so against govt healthcare, yet the Dems are going to try and push through anyhow. WTF happened to listening to the people.
We did that on November 4th 2008 when Obama was elected. The people's voice, a vote, was heard loud & clear. He ran on Universal healthcare. Our government is a representative democracy. If you don't like it, sorry but that's too bad. If you're still upset, feel free to move...
I suppose six years of Medical School and all the efforts that go into becoming a medical doctor should pay minimum wage then. Your argument would be the Insurance companies I presume. No one has any issues when they lose billions from a Katrina or natural disaster. Maybe, just maybe, they should start with Torrit reform. Kind of like sealing the borders off before dealing with illegal immigration. The egg before the chicken.
That's not a bad suggestion to start. I know that my stance is an idealogical one, and those stances are rarely rooted in reality. I personally can't stand thinking of a fellow American going without a needed medical procedure so that our richest one percent can squeeze a little more out of the system.
I hear you but my ideological position is that a individual and/or parent should cover their bases. I insured before producing offspring that I can afford them. I have a cousin that is stage 5 for the last few years, has no job and gets the best health care around through medical. If you think that the Gov. is going to be less likely to cut off the head of the snake as opposed to Kaiser search Ezekiel Emanuel on the web. It will be like DMV with a limited amount of license plates to hand out.
I completely agree with you that individuals should be responsible, and I personally would never dream of having children without stability. I thank you for a decent and civil conversation.
Well if it were a public system that competed with one another than yes, it would lower costs. I work in Steel Const and the more people that bid on work the more competitive and lower the bids come out. We pay a healthy dose in Work Comp, insurances and what not. Delete or reduce those costs and the price will go down, guaranteed. I have no issues with compensation for malpractice, just realistic limits. Speaking of limits, Term Limits for the House and Senate would also be a good start.
If they were to open up competition to the other insurance companies in the country then you would in fact have competition. Competition is not the argument; the argument is how do you increase competition if you create a completely subsidized Government run insurance that has an unfair advantage to the insurance companies. Is there a single economist in this Whitehouse? It sure doesn't seem like it.
What if a "public steel company" competed with the steel companies out there, and not only that, but they made all the rules that the private steel companies had to compete under? It's like an umpire who not only calls the balls, strikes and outs, but plays first base, too, and coaches the team. Guess who always wins?
I agree. That is why our Company, fleet of 100 company service trucks, will never buy a GM brand again. We are Ford, through and through. Personally I am fine with the system as it is. If there main sticking point is insuring 47 million people than subsidize and insure them. I can say that it would be less than 1.2 trillion dollars in costs. Consider that of that 20 million are illegal and quite a bit of the younger crowd. I did not give a rats ass about medical when I was 23.
east coast transplants? Cause the area was so conservative before? Shot, you are right next to Sebastopol where is it not the Dems vs the Rep, its the Dems vs the Greens. But I think there is a lot to be say about this issue have a small number for extremely vocal people apposing healthcare reform, so even in the most liberal areas you will get people speaking out. Even if you where in an area where the support was 90% for, it seems you would still have the 10% going to the townhalls.
You are the perfect spokesman for the Liberals. One you are either illiterate or drunk. Secondly you make about as much sense as Woolsey. No wonder California is 'sinking' into the supposed rising ocean.
I take making "as mush sense as Woolsey" as a complement. And by you last statement, do you harbor some odd mythological belief that people opinions and thoughts would have an effect of the land mass on which they live? And by supposed rising ocean, should I take it that you don't believe the data that has shown a 20cm rise in sea over the last hundred years? Also, do you disagree with any of my statements or do you only go for personal insults without facts?
Yes, personal insults are a main compulsion of mine to Dmwits that are destroying my Country. I see that you finally found the spell check as well. 20 centimeters in 100 years? Sounds scary. Global warming has as much reputed evidence as does the proponents of it. I suppose if you want to take the position that green house gases are the cause of it, than have at it. I take it that Woolly Mammoth shit was the cause of the last Ice Age. You are placing your importance of humankind a bit high.
I never said I thought that the current sea level was scary, simply that it was a documented fact. Global warming is also a very well documented fact. There is some discussion on the true cause of it, though rate of change it so much higher then that of any other time in history and there is a great deal of evidence that green house gases had a direct correlation to globe temperature. While correlation is necessarily cause, it is strong evidence.
Yes California was much more conservative in the past, this is how it changed, First there was the WWII transplants to work the shipping yards, then there was the flower power in the 60's, then there was the east-coast bean counters that came to rip off the computer revolution, now it is everyone else that wants a free ride. People in Sebastopol are the leftovers from the flower power era. Libertarian might be a good word for multi-generational California natives.
Politicians that don't represent you........they only represent big government. There will be no hopeus...the times are changing.
There's a new book out, that I just gave to 2 people, that tells of the 2nd American Revolution.
It's about a small town in America that stands up to the tyranny of government. Read it!! It's about your home town. It's about the 2nd American Revolution & how it comes to your home town.
Hats off to Sonoma County for rising to the occasion to oppose the clearly socialist agenda of Woolsley who still favors "single payer", the phrase liars use when they are promoting government take over of healthcare.
That they have to disguise their intentions with catch phrases like that tells you all you need to know. If Woolsley had the balls, she would call a government takeover just what it is.
Bravo to the lady in the blue shirt... I love you whoever you are... thank you!
I don't think the video was one sided, as you say. The longest shot in the video was of Lynn Woolsey giving her position on the plan, which is followed by loud cheering and applause. This was followed by people who angrily opposed the plan. I included them because I thought they were amusing and more entertaining than the folks who simply stated that they agreed with the plan. The video ends with shots of signs that were both for and against the plan. How do you think I should have edited it?

Apparently under the Obama Administration no one is to be making a profit any longer. The beauty of Socialism.

There are many things that should generate profit, but a person's well-being is not one of them.

The egg before the chicken.
lanceito1230 2 years ago
That's not a bad suggestion to start. I know that my stance is an idealogical one, and those stances are rarely rooted in reality. I personally can't stand thinking of a fellow American going without a needed medical procedure so that our richest one percent can squeeze a little more out of the system.
hempec 2 years ago
I hear you but my ideological position is that a individual and/or parent should cover their bases. I insured before producing offspring that I can afford them. I have a cousin that is stage 5 for the last few years, has no job and gets the best health care around through medical. If you think that the Gov. is going to be less likely to cut off the head of the snake as opposed to Kaiser search Ezekiel Emanuel on the web. It will be like DMV with a limited amount of license plates to hand out.

I completely agree with you that individuals should be responsible, and I personally would never dream of having children without stability. I thank you for a decent and civil conversation.

lanceito1230 ,, Re: ",,,they should start with Torrit reform"
The problem with Tort reform is If all you do is cap the awards, then what?
- Malpractice insurance co. wins, but would they pass along all their savings? If yes:
- Health care providers wins, but would they pass along all their savings? If yes:
- Health care insurance providers wins, but would they pass along all their savings?
It's no wonder that approach didn't work in CA & FL. Should we outlaw malpractice suits entirely?

Well if it were a public system that competed with one another than yes, it would lower costs. I work in Steel Const and the more people that bid on work the more competitive and lower the bids come out. We pay a healthy dose in Work Comp, insurances and what not. Delete or reduce those costs and the price will go down, guaranteed. I have no issues with compensation for malpractice, just realistic limits. Speaking of limits, Term Limits for the House and Senate would also be a good start.
lanceito1230 2 years ago
If they were to open up competition to the other insurance companies in the country then you would in fact have competition. Competition is not the argument; the argument is how do you increase competition if you create a completely subsidized Government run insurance that has an unfair advantage to the insurance companies. Is there a single economist in this Whitehouse? It sure doesn't seem like it.
rmeglath 2 years ago 4
And the goverment option doesn't have to worry about costs since the goverment can just raise taxes.

Loathomar,
You are the perfect spokesman for the Liberals. One you are either illiterate or drunk. Secondly you make about as much sense as Woolsey. No wonder California is 'sinking' into the supposed rising ocean.
lanceito1230 2 years ago
I take making "as mush sense as Woolsey" as a complement. And by you last statement, do you harbor some odd mythological belief that people opinions and thoughts would have an effect of the land mass on which they live? And by supposed rising ocean, should I take it that you don't believe the data that has shown a 20cm rise in sea over the last hundred years? Also, do you disagree with any of my statements or do you only go for personal insults without facts?
Loathomar 2 years ago
Yes, personal insults are a main compulsion of mine to Dmwits that are destroying my Country. I see that you finally found the spell check as well. 20 centimeters in 100 years? Sounds scary. Global warming has as much reputed evidence as does the proponents of it. I suppose if you want to take the position that green house gases are the cause of it, than have at it. I take it that Woolly Mammoth shit was the cause of the last Ice Age. You are placing your importance of humankind a bit high.
lanceito1230 2 years ago
I never said I thought that the current sea level was scary, simply that it was a documented fact. Global warming is also a very well documented fact. There is some discussion on the true cause of it, though rate of change it so much higher then that of any other time in history and there is a great deal of evidence that green house gases had a direct correlation to globe temperature. While correlation is necessarily cause, it is strong evidence.
Loathomar 2 years ago
Yes California was much more conservative in the past, this is how it changed, First there was the WWII transplants to work the shipping yards, then there was the flower power in the 60's, then there was the east-coast bean counters that came to rip off the computer revolution, now it is everyone else that wants a free ride. People in Sebastopol are the leftovers from the flower power era. Libertarian might be a good word for multi-generational California natives.

Revolution is Coming to America!! The "R" word.

I love you whoever you are... thank you!

It's good to hear the loud boos against this communist government health care takeover plan...

What a one sided video. I was there and the majority of the people supported the bill. Convenient edit job sir.
iamseanconnery 2 years ago
I don't think the video was one sided, as you say. The longest shot in the video was of Lynn Woolsey giving her position on the plan, which is followed by loud cheering and applause. This was followed by people who angrily opposed the plan. I included them because I thought they were amusing and more entertaining than the folks who simply stated that they agreed with the plan. The video ends with shots of signs that were both for and against the plan. How do you think I should have edited it?

Sorry, 007. The majority know what BHO is planning and want no part of it. Kill the bill now.
