Back when the dollar was on top, lots of people tried to counterfeit them, and the U.S. Mint had to 'install security measures' in the bills. Watermarks, texture, etc. Yes, anyone with a high school diploma and access to cleaning supplies can make $50 or $100 bills. The trick is to make them CONVINCING.

Uhm some of you guys are just regurgitating wiki. i worked as a cashier and i handled a lot of money. some fake bills look so damn real its not even funny. 3 Quick tests: 1. hold the bill down. If you see the strip (FAKE). 2. slide your nail through the big numbers at the corner (20/50/100) if you dont feel the numbers are elevative, a bumb(FAKE). 3. Look at the watermark face. If it looks like a 5 year old drew it with a crayon... FAKE. If you get fake bills REPORT them. Use it and your GG MOFO

1. Check the color shifting ink(most of the fakes I have intercepted have been a little off).

2. Check the lapel, it is raised on all US money,

3. also on the check the micro printing, if you can't read it, it is probably fake.

4. Finally, if you have a black light, all of the security threads will glow when exposed to UV lights. (though the 100's can be very difficult to see.)

steps to spot a fake bill. step one feel it real bill are made of 100% levy denim and cotton fakes are 100% copy paper. 2. look for markings all bills are marked with a water mark of the person if the watermark is of something else it's fake. other things to look for are the holograms the UV numbers and the security strip. the final step is have it checked with a certified person Frank Abagnale makes pins and MICR machines if it is fake both will mark it brown or black. DON"T COUNTERFEIT EVER.
