1) can you tell me if there is a way to turn on the HD video recording and let it keep running and have the lcd go off to save batteries while recording? I want to hook it to a bike and don't need the lcd to be on and want to save batteries.
2) Also can you tell me how many GB it is to record an hour of HD on it?
3) Have you tried running a battery from full to empty while recording continuous HD video? How long did it last?
The camera is a little weird. The movie mode only lets you record 11 minute long videos which kind of sucks.
There seems to be no way to turn off the video screen, however, in time lapse mode, it shuts off automatically and doesn't stay on at all!
Time lapse mode is a little disappointing. You have choices of 1 or 2 MINUTE intervals - meaning at 1 MIN/frame, you need to record 30 MIN to get 1 second of video. Maybe good for weather, not good for recording people moving.
A 1 minute long HD video is 190 MB, so 10 minutes would be 1,900 MB = 1.9 GB, and 1 hour = 1.9x6 = 11.4 GB if I calculated that right.
I haven't run the camera all the way down, but battery life seems pretty good. I have a Canon Powershot TX1 and I can tell you, battery life on it is horrible. This is significantly better.
The 11 minute max on movies is a big disappointment.

Amazing, the kayak stands still, but the lake wobbles around it.
