  • Great demo, I know how to tat and am trying to teach. Getting the flip is not easy and neither is teaching it. The person with adhd comment should take etiquette lessons, she's mean.

  • OK - so I finally got the thread to flip. Let some slack, etc. Now I can't get the thread to "pull through"... They just bunch up and knot. When I was doing it in reverse - the knots on the wrap and not the shuttle thread - they would slide just fine. HELP...

  • Help, I cant not do the flip. Tried and tried. Watched your video over and over. I make the ring on hand andmy work does not flip. I pinch with first finger and loosen with niddle finger, pul and I can not get my middle finger to fupp and tighten the stitch. Have any suggestions? Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.

  • I think your video is good but however I have been trying and trying to get the flip I CANT GET IT. I am working in revese work and need to reverse my revese work. Did you get that.? Any suggestions. I cant go any farther until I get that FLIP down pat. HELP ME PLEASE Thanks.

  • Finally! I've been trying so hard to learn tatting but I couldn't get it to work because my knots weren't flipping! Thank you for the video and helping me finally understand what I was doing wrong.

  • Man, I wish I had found your video 1st. It took me 2 days to realize that it was the thread from the ring and NOT the shuttle tread! I finally happened to catch it after 200th time of watching the same 2 or 3 tatting videos! I shoulda check on your channel 1st!

  • Thank you for a great video! I made three double sts.! I have been so frustrated with this! I just couldn't get it and I have been trying for days. Thanks again...

  • Tried to learn this from books for years. Finally got it on mt own, but I wish I had had the internet and could have seen this. Good job. All those who viewed this should have given you more positive feedback. I am going to share this on twitter & facebook. Good Job.

  • Your so funny....I too have had that same problem with flipping.

So glad I seen your vid

  • ok why cant i use the ring?

  • @2006myangel do you mean that you can't close the ring? if thats the case then you arent doing the flip

making doublestiches is basically the same as making knots and when you do it in tatting, you are making the knots ON the ring WITH _the shuttle thread_ but you want the knots to be made WITH the _ring thread_ and to be ON the shuttle thread..

so the flip actually reverse the knots and changes the corethread which makes the closing possible... am i making any sense? :D

  • @MrArtesan ummmmmm.i think so so when i tat i cant keep going in circles to make a round dollie...i'm froom georgia we call a lacy table small cloth a dolly just in case you didnt know what i ment. i am lost. ill do what you said and see what i done wrong.i have watched so many videos on here i am lost i saw one doing the stichng on just a needle. bye for now and hanks for your rep;y ill try.

  • @2006myangel well i actually didn't know what you meant by a dollie so thank you for that.. have you tried watching videos from a users How2Tat channel? i think she explains everything very clearlt in an easy way.. i just had to subscribe to her cause she was so good teacher lol

  • @MrArtesan well............ill try and get back with ya this has my brain in a knot lol take care

  • do you have adhd? lol.

  • No, I like to help people LEARN. Even if I did, how would that be funny? I know people with ADHD & it's not fun for them.

  • Ha! I got it! Finally! Thank you so much for such a great video!!

  • @shldbblonde WEWT!!

  • Fantastic video! This was a huge help! I kind of knew what I was doing wrong but I simply couldn't put it all together on my own. Seeing this made the little lightbulb over my head flicker on. :D

I also switched out to a thicker thread like you're using which helped a LOT. I'll keep practicing and switch to a thinner thread when I know I have the hang of it.

  • This was great! most how-to videos are as boring as dirt. Yours is entertaining too! Thanks for demonstrating the flip!

  • Thank You so much! I would have gone insane without your help. You are the Queen!!!!!!!!!!

  • I don't normally comment on videos but I just had to let you know that your explanation of flipping helped me so much. I had no idea what I was supposed to do until I saw this.

    Thank you!

  • Is the flip part a requirement of tatting or can you do it either way? When I first started practicing, I was not doing the flip part but I had something on my thread that looked like tatting. The only difference was that I would need to pull on the tail to tighten instead of from the shuttle end.

  • Thanks so much for this - I'm absolutely new to tatting and couldn't figure out where I was going wrong. You rock!

  • Thanks for posting this! I get it!!! I did it!!!! Thanks tons....

  • Another great video with wonderful close ups.And yes we all love ya down here.
