my first time priming was a space marine bike, I sprayed with grey krylon primer and ended up pooling it over the enfine componants making it look like crap, at the time I had no idea on stripping and went through with the paint job,
I had a bad priming experience this very evening.
I've never painted miniatures before, and was trying out some Armory black primer which was recommended to me by a guy at my local hobby shop. However, after spraying a few bursts on my dreadnought, I noticed the primer didn't seem to be going on right...upon closer examination I noticed it was going on powdery and fuzzy, turning my Dread into a grimdark Chia Pet.
So the moral of the story is, never use Armory primer.
Most of my bad experiences have been taking off the primer when stripping models. The Citadel white primer always comes off with Simple Green but I have had significant problems with the black primer. I have found that it usually takes brake fluid or engine degreaser to remove it. The latter usually leaves white powder residue behind.. Yuck.
I have had lots of bad priming experiences. Most of them are due to me trying different products. But my first experience with GW models back in September was bad. Even though I had watched several videos and such I still ended up with over spray that hit other models in the area that created that grainy texture all over the areas this hit. It was horrible and I ended up having to strip what I just primed. LOL
OK, you like to have a bad experience, here it is. :-) I forgot to tell my son how to prime a miniature with spray paint. One day I was into the mood to build something and went to my Hobbyroom (I like to say the man's cave^^) and what I saw was a a Spraycan half empty or half full as you like, 10 primed minitures in 28 mm, they where grown up to 32mm scale after priming and the spraydust all over my Terrain work in progress. At the end, it was my fault and know he knowes to prime miniatures ;-)

tipping the can upside down and spraying after use is so important. you dont want a blocked nozzle on your new primer can. top tip mate :)
