@TripsZ111 I think the appeal comes from his flaws. I know I could identify and sympathise with him better, because I was a really shy and insecure kid too. With all of that, you feel like you can cheer him on more than those other kids who are so relentlessly upbeat.

When I watch this now as an adult---or someone who is trying to be an adult---I can pick up on the lessons they try to teach kids in the show. Like that discussion about homeless people, and how you shouldn't generalize whole groups of people based on certain individuals, and that there are good and bad people in every group.
