  • Way too fast !

  • send me the project ^^

  • Hey, really enjoyed this, do you happen to use Maya too?

I'm going to try to use these techniques in Maya as this will save a lot of time for me trying to fiddle with dynamics (never mind processing power) for my uni project animation.

  • very good one, exactly what I was looking for. Though at some points I had to rewind, listen, rewind and so on ;)

  • thx man

  • hey thanx man this tutorial is cool but you should take it slower and explain it little more cuz when i first watched it i didnt understand nothing so i had to wath it many times over and over again to get something from it

  • @gnight21 It wasreally meant for experienced max users. Plus at the time I made it there was a 10 minute limit, so I was rushing to do it all in one. But glad you got something from it.

  • @Dreamscape42 Dude, its fine, Makes perfect sense the whole way

  • Thanks man!!!

  • what button did you press at 2:00 to turn the lathe button yellow plz answer oh ya and your awesome subscribed

  • thank you for this video

i'm about to make a stargate for my final exam

first i wasn't even thinking about trying to make this, but now i see it's fairly easy to do

  • @kadomonytv why did you even bother commenting on this if you didnt like it? this is why we hate trolls!

  • Your great with 3dmax, I'd stay away from tutorials though, thanks anyway.

  • @kadomonytv you *can* pause, rewind the vid

  • i tried to do that but when i do the displacemap part, the Kawoosh does not change when i increas the strength, it is still in the same shape as it was befor i edited it. what could be my mistake. Cant figure it out on my on

  • @Ronon304 found my mistake. needed to use 1000 as the displacement for frame 40. i guess my scale wasnt right.

  • that's a good tutorial thanks! i'm going to give it a try.

  • YOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PHILL......MAN ..I JUS DONT HAVE WORDS TO SAY...SIMPLY SUPERB.....AWESOME TECHNIQUE BRO...KEPP UP DA GOOD WORK....

  • Wow! This is awesome, thank you.

  • great tutorial, really appreciated

  • DANGIT! all the vids I've found r in 3DS max... Can't find anything for blender...

  • Now if I can only figure out how to do this in Blender!

  • wow... nice :d

  • 3dsmax file ?

  • Great tutorial!

  • how can i change the color of the kawoosh?

  • does anyone know how to do this in maya?

    cheers

  • well here's an interesting fact in case you didnt know the real.

they get the effect by shooting water from a tank cannon then playing it in slow motion then reversing the effect. actually quite clever i think.

  • @agm92 not quit correct. the use compressed air which the are shooting into a water tank and filming it. from a diffent angles.

  • SUPERGREAT tutorial, so smart way to do it! And it looks great.

  • i just got 3ds max and don't get anything:P

  • Great tutorial and very cool solution on simulating the kawoosh mesh and the waterlike texture!!!

The animation itself should be improved - it isn't animated like the kawoosh in the series.

    Nevertheless: you rule! :-) 10 / 10 of course.

  • 10/10 Dude, that's awesome! Someone should get aVoN onto you so you can do a new kawoosh effect for the Garrysmod stargates.

  • apart from the problem that source uses bones, and you could only do this if you could implement vertex animation, which is what we're trying to do. Or at least, mod it somewhat from the faceposing.

  • I'm having problems with my kawhoose model, There always a funnel at the end of it when it's forming and popping out, also what hotkey did you press so you could fix that lathe problem you were talking about...

  • yeah what did you do exactly on 2:00 ?!?!

  • I responded to Nekurrin directly at the time.

The Lathe tool rarely works first time, and you have to adjust the point at which it will rotate the line. I used the F12 hotkey to bring up the window to type the position I wanted the axis to rotate around. You can lathe any line, but if you know the centre point that you want to spin round is at x=0 y=0 z=0 (0,0,0) you can simply enter this as the centre position using F12.

I posted a video to show this and it's available on my channel.

  • 5/5. That kicks ass.

  • Thank you !

  • awsome could u do a turtorial of a vortex?
