how do you like using flatwounds over roundwounds? I just got a new fender tonight (used) that came with SS and I am thinking of going with a set flatwounds on it -- just love this burpy tone.
I am assuming you mean flats are harder to fret? I have only used round wounds in my bass playing days, so curious on what I should expect aside from the tone.
Cool, I was checking out d'addorios chromes I read they are little brighter sounding but still have the flatwound thump. From my understanding flea used flatwounds on the stadium arcadium album and I am chasing that tone.
I dont do much slap wankin' these days, used to quite a bit but gets kind of overplayed with my band. Prefer more finger style grooves.
I got the chromes on my Fender American Deluxe now, very different sound over the SS strings I had on there previously. Will be doing some recordings Tuesday to see how they cut through the mix. Thx for the advice!
do you have tabs for this?

hey, hmm flatwounds sound 'deeper' and 'smoother' I dunno lol. Tough to get a decent slap tone out of those though.
you're gonna have to work harder in the fretting department but its worth it.

Ah well, I can get more detailed if you'd like.
Yes correct, basically my left hand is working slightly harder with flats. But theres a' nothin' u can't get used to.
flatwounds eliminate finger squeak when you slide across frets.
and these bastards last a loooong time, definitely worth the price for them imo.
good luck with it!
