  • When Rock was Music,,,, Now Rock is SHIT, StinkY SHIT

  • Led Zeppelin NEVER lip synched, ever.

  • I was only 8. I wish I could have been there, in 1977.

  • No lipsyncing. Just the Mighty Zep, warts and all.

  • My parents met at this concert.

  • I was there.

  • HELLO??? if zep was so bad live, why was every show sold out!!!

  • the way he started the song at 49 seconds was killer.

  • holy fuk!

    rock gods in action

heavy metal bands of the world, bow down in respect

  • OK - please listen to someone who was there back in the day. I saw Zeppelin in 1975 and 1977 - best shows I ever saw - bar none. The sound and showmanship coming from the stage where overwhelming. Total pagan spectacle.

A number of factors can make any recording / playback can sound good (or bad).

P.S. Saw them in Cincinnati on the Page / Plant Unledded Tour in '95 - the magic was still there.

  • Page is a sonic wizard

  • my fav zep song

  • I love music and I've been checking out music videos on youtube since it started. I've noticed a weird trend though - people who must literally spend hours each day going through all the videos of some band they have a grudge against and posting bitchy comments over and over again.

TruthAxe is obviously one of these people. I'll give him this - the '77 seattle show was subpar...but when Zep were on in '77 they were the best that's ever been. Page is a Master of Sound.

    Open your ears.

  • Amen

  • @mielazul Yeah, the 77 tour was Zeppelin at its best AND worst. It was Zeppelin at its biggest.

  • @TruthAxe

    hater alert

  • I still have my ticket stub to, but it was on the 200 level, i did mnaage to sneak down to the 100 level, I didnt have any firecrackers either. I was drinkiing southern comfort over by the old red building withe The KJR sign on it. Almost drank to much to enjoy the show.

  • I was there!

    July 17th 1977 @ the Kingdome

Hard to believe I still have my ticket stub.

No it wasn't me that tossed those firecrackers on the stage either.

  • Plant 0:48 :-)

    Thanks

  • I love Pages solos.

His music (art) is what it is, and this ICONIC musical history.

You may say its sloppy/messy. I say it's Jimmy F-in Page in the mid 70's, onstage, live, and worthy of a toast of the finest single-malt Irish Whiskey.

Next time I am out with my fellow guitarists (tomorrow night) I will toast him and Les Paul (RIP).

  • to think that its lip sync is retarted!!!!!! He is mixing two sources-- thats the reason the video goes out of sync. They would never lip sync, thats crazy especially with the fact that its nothing like the studio version.

  • @slipdrum80 I owe you a drink, sir.

  • Thank you xD

  • @slipdrum80 And they sure in the hell wouldn't let a video get out where the words were this far off if they were lipsincing. Zeppelin didn't lipsinc.

  • Ref MG49707 How can you assure me that they never synched music? Were you involved in their stage production? Also you don't have to tell me how Zep sounded live, I saw them live. Tone down on the emotion bro, they're not related to you and you're weren't on their payroll. payroll.

  • Absolutely, I think the same can be said of Jeff Beck, amazing one night and distinctly average the next. I think the whole idea of these guitarists "taking a chance" during a performance has been lost in the art of the live setting. I cant even begin to imagine how Page managed to get himself up for a gig with all the drugs that were in his system.

  • KennyB50, you're so right man. This 77' tour was such a frenzy and by this time, Page was so fucked up on heroin it seriously affected his playign to such a point, that he had to leave the stage at one show. There is no denying his ability as a guitarist because solos are the furthest down the list I think when it comes to judging a guitar players ability and if you look at shows like Madison Square Garden in 73' I think he can be (when he wants) fucking amazing as a soloist.

  • I saw them in 77 when they were promoting Physical Graffitti and I had my suspicions after the concert. Plant made very few ventures into the higher octaves which was a trademark of their music and when he did I was like, "ugh". However, the music was tight. I was really impressed with Bonham but I distinctly remember having questions about the "wall" of guitar licks I heard coming from Page. The sound was fantastic but none this you tube stuff is remotely close.I think some of it was synched.

  • @kennyb50

Dude! I can assure you Zep NEVER mimed, synched, or piped in any music EVER. It is almost ludicris to think. It sounds better when you are there because it's LIVE. The sonic wall produced live could never be replicated on some bootleg copy. As for Pagey's solos, I can't deny he may be the sloppiest live player I've ever heard, but he took chances, mixing it up every night to keep it fresh. All while his diet was Jack Daniels, cocaine, heroin, and banana daqueries. No BS.

  • As for guitar solos and their not being the basis upon which you judge a musician, point granted, to an extent. I'm not a musician but what I look for is a demonstation that what was recorded can be played on stage and its then okay to change up and improvise. e.g. In jazz, a baseline is established after which all manner of unexpected digressions occur. Page doesn't do that. He went on stage and sometimes played some completely different shit that never established his virtuosity.

  • @DoctorWilson he had to leave because of food poisoning not heroin

  • @Matthew9444 .... that was the 'official' report.

  • @zed0469 i know some things were covered up but i cant see heroin making him faceplant on stage.

  • yeah but you have to remember this is when everybody was tired this is the third leg of the tour

  • @kennyb50 Seems like you didn't read the description as well, I clearly stated the audio and video were out of sync as they both ran at different speeds, since then, a new speed-corrected transfer from the master cassettes of the audience recorded source has surfaced, I may revisit this video at some point in the future. What about shutting your eyes and just listen to the music? As for Page's live solos, this was an "off" gig for him, there are much better examples of his live soloing.

  • Bootleder, I'm not a Zep hater. I've loved this band since 72, but I'm not blind and I'm not deaf. I'm the product of an educational system back in the 60s and early 70s that actually taught children. I'm not going to suspend my ability to critically think just because I'm a Zep fan. In synch or out of synch, watch how Plant fumbles for the harmonica and rushes it to his lips once he hears the sound. (continued)

  • As for Page's solos, I'm not just talking about the one on this particular video. I'm talking about every single one that I've seen and heard on You Tube. I don't want to be too hard on Jimmy either. "Kinda sucks" is a relative term, but when you compare him side by side with some of the other guitar gods, he is lacking. In my opinion, Page's genius was in the studio. Zep's recorded sound couldn't be matched.

  • Hey just a suggestion i totally saw what you saw at 2:43 and it dissapointed me cause i look up to plant but if you read this description for the video the user says that the tape goes slow or some shit, look at the same performance of this on youtube and beleive it or not at the part with the harmonica he hits it perfect on the other one ,idk check it out just go to the related vids.

  • Once again, the band was not lip syncing or miming, I made this video with the audience source of this show because the soundboard was very hard to listen to as it was so dry just to give a different perspective on the performance. Not saying it was good, just giving a different point of view However, the Audience source runs about 6% too fast and there's a very noticeable syncing problem by the end. Since then I have acquired a speed corrected version of the audio and I plan to redo this soon.

  • *FACEPALM*

  • @AntonioThomasOffical your sir are obtuse

  • @kennyb50 you sir an obtuse person

  • @kennyb50 I'm always shocked when people say that Zepplin was poor live because my Uncle saw them live in 1977 in Maryland and he said that no show has ever come close to that one. And he's seen the Stones, Floyd, and the Who.

  • @kennyb50 I'm always shocked when people say that Zepplin was poor live because my Uncle saw them live in 1977 in Maryland and he said that no show has ever come close to that one. And he's seen the Stones, Floyd, and the Who. I really think this was just an off gig for them. If you'll look up the LA shows from this tour, you'll hear some of the best Zep ever, particularly No Quarter.

  • @kennyb50 good job @ being an asshole 10 out of 10. you should be proud

  • Damn I wish I could have seen them live.

  • fucking hell i wish i was there... they're just the best rock band in the history

  • Page is terrific, but "Percy" is terrible.

  • You gotta be kidding me. The whole band was beyond great. Plant had a really good voice and let me tell ya, he looked nice on stage and hit those notes and held them for a very long time.... :)

  • is it really audience? why it keeps channeling to other camera view? is it edited? from multiple audience source?

    sorry nab here

  • No, only the audio source is from the audience, I synced it with the existing Pro-Shot source.

  • holy crap! at 1:51 you can see a John Paul Jones on bass!

  • are you retarded you see him on the bass heaps of times

  • John Paul Jones is on the bass a lot. He played the bass hahahahahahahahaha! :)

  • Once apon a time, when giants walked the earth...

  • One of their coolest songs--The proof being that even Jimmy's incredibly out of tune guitar cant spoil it!

  • Comment removed

  • ohhh yeahhh.......

Did you even read the video description?

  • nope sorry

  • Were you there? I was! Front row under Page. Camped out for 2 days! :)

  • No..... I didn't tape it obviously, you're really lucky :) got any pictures from up close?

  • My girlfriend did. We got a camera in. We took it apart and then put it back together on the floor of the King Dome. :) She got some really good pics of Plant!

  • That's great, if possible I'd like to see them if you still have them around :)

    Is it possible?

Also you're a really lucky guy....front row, Zep 77, what could be better! :-)

  • I am not a guy but yuppers front row! It was worth the wait!!!!!! I will try to track down my g-friend. She has the pics and I haven't seen her in years. Those tixs were 10 bucks a piece. We got 10 of them and 10 of us went. :)

  • Well it was festival so we had to really run once the gates opened up at 5 in the afternoon. We ran all the way to the front of the floor and there were 10 of us so we always had a spot. When Zeppelin came on, it was a real riot. I will never forget that night. 8:01 PM to midnight they played. :)

  • holy shit you are lucky!!!

  • Yeah I have been told that. Back in the day it was just a concert but looking back, I realize just how fortunate I was to see them before Bonzo died. I saw Page/Plant in 96 but it was not even close to the same. :)

  • power, mystery, and hammer of the gods.
