Love my Durango - thank you for posting this photo tribute! I have sent it to a soldier who longs to come home. What is the beautiful music that accompanies?
Actually I live in Durango and it is a horrible place to live in, tons of drugs, lots of crime for a small town, not as beautiful as you think, drains money and I will move as soon as I get a chance. Do not come here, do not move here.
@MrDtown15 Too Late! It's not that bad compared to the other places I've lived. It is pretty bad in the downtown though. Thats why i live in the country.
@EmiliosProductions Well I see that your an amateur filmmaker, my advice is that if you truly want to make movies, get out of Durango. Believe me I know this town and it will not give you success. Leave now or stay and have a useless life.
@Lavern4101 In terms of crime like muggings, heists, etc. Durango has very little of anything like that. The common crime in Durango has to do with drugs, but as the locals say, they are "peaceful potheads". Most other places have nowhere near the safety of this town. MrDtown is saying things way too dramatically. Wherever you are, Durango is probably a lot safer, don't worry.
@MrDtown15 Why is everyone down on Durango? I lived there for 5 years until I went to college. It's an amazing town with great people and culture. There is sooo much to do there. the people who have a good time there are the ones who are happy with life and want to enjoy there surroundings. Don't move to one of the most beautiful places in the world if you're just going to mope.
@MrDtown15 So you dont like the mountains where you can go and be completely immersed in nature and especially in the fall where entire mountainsides turn golden? You don't like the river where you can go rafting or tubing or fishing? What about skiing and snowboarding with some of the best snow in the country? If Durango's not beautiful for you then what is? What do you mean it's full of idiots?
@yankeefro I have seen the mountains and river a million times. I have no interest in skiing or snowboarding. And when I say it is full of idiots, what I mean is that out of all the places I have been, I have never found another place that has so many stupid people in my life.
@MrDtown15 Just because you see something a lot doesn't mean they aren't special. If you like something and appreciate it then thats a good thing no matter what. That's your loss that you dont take advantage of such a unique area. I fell sorry for people like you who just shut themselves in and don't even try things just for the fun of it and to explore new things. You still didn't answer abt the idiots comment. you just used a different adjective. WHAT do u mean when u say stupid? HOW SO??
@yankeefro Have you ever talked to people in Durango? Most are not intelligent whatsoever. They are all obsessed with speedos, most people here are drunk half the time or a drug addict. They are all unprofessional and most seem to not have any aspiration at all. I am getting out of this town asap, im sorry I just don't like it here.
@MrDtown15 Yes I certainly have. I lived there for 5 years. I now go to American University in Washington DC with one other friend from Durango. A couple of my friends are going to Dartmouth and one is going to Stanford. We, sir, are very intelligent. The aerospace team at DHS has won the WORLD competition multiple times in the past 4 years just to mention one of many accomplishments. There are bound to be social problems in any community but Durango is nowhere near the worst by any means.
@MrDtown15 I don't know what you were doing there that made you think the entire town is like that. You can't just say that the majority of people are drunk drug addicts. DO you realize how ridiculous that sounds? Durango is filled with some of the most dedicated people you will ever meet, especially athletes (who take advantage of the outdoor terrain that we are so fortunate to have) and go on to be ranked nationally. ( I have another classmate who was ranked first in the nation in biking)
@MrDtown15 You have to actually open your eyes to whats around you in life. So let this 18 year old college student give you some advice that is as old and true as time. Make of each day what you will. You have no do-overs, no second chances at the same day. We all only live once so We need to make the most out of what we have and regret nothing. I do not have a personal problem with you, sir. I am simply standing up for what i see as misrepresentations of a small, Colorado town.
@MrDtown15 and one more thing, the only FEW people I have EVER seen in speedos in Durango are world class triathletes who compete on a national stage and could rage either of us. That's what works for them so some respect please. I went to the pool 2 days a week the entire summer while i was working with a childrens' group and i probably saw 2 speedos.
@MrDtown15 I just can't imagine myself going to an amazing place like that and just sulking and resenting everything around me and not wanting to actually live and take advantage of where you are.
@MrDtown15 I respect your opinion, but dont group all the people in Durango with the few that actually do drugs and drink. Many of us moved to Durango BECAUSE we are accomplished. It may be a small town, but that doesn't mean that everyone does drugs and drinks. Many are quite against drugs, and that's why so many people are successful in Durango. Jack Turner, Olympic cross-country skiing athlete and Olympic commentator was born in Durango. Just so you know.
@MrDtown15 Really? You must not have lived in many other places if you think Durango is that bad. Crime in Durango is practically nonexistent, I once left my car keys in the ignition, and unlocked all day long on accident while downtown and nothing happened. Also news flash, drugs are bad everywhere it's not like Durango is particularly bad. The people are friendly, we've got amazing scenery and plenty to do outdoors. And it's actually very cheap to live here compared to any other mountain town.
We love Durango! One friendly and beautiful area! Thanks for the awesome shots!

@EmiliosProductions Is crime really bad downtown? I'll be staying at the Strater hotel in January. Is the crime bad in that area?

@EmiliosProductions Potheads I'm used to, as I live in Austin so not worried about that. Thanks for the info. Just two more months!

@Lavern4101 I hope you enjoy your visit. Are you skiing or sightseeing? Feel free to ask me any questions about the area if you need to.
