God, I wish I could've been around in the 70s. Being 16 nowadays means Justin Bieber ,Miley Cyrus, Kanye West... ew, ew, ew. It really depresses me. The difference between Bieber etc and The Clash is that in 50 years time, people are still going to be listening to Joe, but not to those other shits. Rant over ;)
I remember listening to Complete Control for the first time in 1977. It was like standing next to to a jet engine warming up. Never really recovered from it.
Made a big impression on me and has been embedded into my DNA forever. Using word classic is an understatement to say the least.
So now I'd like to say, people can change anything they want to and that means anything in the world. People are running about following their little tracks and I am one of them. But we've all got to stop just following our own little mouse trail. People can do anything, this is something I am beginning to learn. People are out there doing bad things to each other, it's because they are being de-humanised. It's time to take the humanity back into the centre of the ring and follow that for a time
Sorry I meant to say if you read the above quote against the other quote you get the picture the future is written. People have more power than goverments and banks. So the future is truly unwritten are we gonna just keep settling for more of the same. Or are we gonna change ourselves and hence the world? I am striving to be the change I want to see in the world. Bit disappointed they only use one song in the trailer, though. Whereas the Clash were pure punk in the beginning and more pop towards the end, it's their middle period that was the sweet spot.

@tomsega hey man U2 have made some of the most influential albums, their early work is ground breaking dont be hating cos theyre successful and mainstream hes got more talent in his pinky finger than you do in your whole being. music snobs. geeeeeeesus.
@Saradrummer - I look at perhaps the biggest and most acclaimed modern bands since, The Pixies, Nirvana, Radiohead, Blur, Massive Attack, Portishead, The Arcade Fire, and none of them were influenced by U2.... The Smiths, The Clash, The Cure and Joy Division were all far more influential than Bono!!
@tomsega hey you pretty much outlined all my favorite bands BUT how do you know what influences people cmon man stop being a hipster U2 moves A LOT of people and just cos all these people arent killing themselves in bands like joy division doesnt mean their opinions dont count. The Edge is one of the greatest guitarists and most ground breaking in terms of sfx and what not and Bonos voice is incredible. "Ohhhhhh the smiths and the cure and joy division!!!.." get original.

(: . Yo tbn t aviso si se d algo. Saludos! pasarla bien!
Can't wait to see this when it gets released in Australia... Met Don Letts (DJ who was close mates of The Clash and filmed plenty of their live footage) in London last October, when he was the headline act for the 30-year anniversary of the Rock Against Racism gig The Clash were meant to have headlined in '77 over there. Hoping to see some rare video footage of that gig, cos 30yrs on it wasn't too well promoted or advertised, & very few people in attendance, even though the bill was top-rate.
This is the truth. I was part of a web-site that was "Clash"..I was ear ache I was one of a number. I took llly's and but them on the place. I suppose in a digital world they are worth fuck all....except my names Patrick Gorman are you ready for WAR....well fuck off to the gay boy wfags to lovend if you want a war lets go....
listen to what sucker Bono says: if the clash could do it, everybody can. please, shut ur mouth and go fuck urself! u don't deserve to be in the movie. nor on the face of earth!
I think what bono meant was that since the clash didnt come off as being pretentious rock stars, and presented themselves as normal human beings, that they encouraged other normal human beings to go out and start bands and make names for themselves.
yeah, im 15 now and i've known joe strummer since i was about 8. he was a truly amazing guy that certainly had a hand in raising me. When i was a kid i was never seen without a photo of Joe my stepdad gave me just after he died.
i finally saw this!! what a fantastic film. It just makes you think, one minute your sat on the sofa with your kids, reading the paper, the next your dead. it can be that quick.
Can't wait to ge my bleedin' fingers on this film! Joe was/is my best hero of all time. I saw him several times and was never dissapointed. The "warlord" was truly magnificent. It's great to see my 7 & 5 year old tell their friends about the Clash and sing their songs.
I kinda agree with AmbulanceProductions. I lie U2, but something about Bono just rubs me wrong for some reason...Long live the Clash!!!!! Joe Strummer RIP!!! Mick Jones A-OK!! Topper Headon A-1 (wrote and played all the music to "Rock the Casbah", Joe did the lyrics). CLASH FOREVER!!!!
hey men...maybe you need to listen to a song by cowboy mouth called "joe strummer" talks about a guy who left his girl 'cos she didn´t know who joe strummer was...great song
Look at you, 14 and loving Joe. How does that happen? You restore my faith in the young teens that I thought didn't have a clue what real music was all about. Well done young man, you'll go far.
I was 14 when I first heard the Clash. My older sister brought an album home from her college library, and I STILL remember the day. I'm sure I don't have to tell you why. Rock n' roll epiphany. Same with Joy Division. =)
Joe Strummer was much more than a musician, he asked us to think with his lyrics, and Mick Jones added the guitar. He honestly thought that we could become better people and change the world...yet, here we are, and Joe is dead. Joe, we miss you.
Bono needs to get his sell out ass of this movie. Joe Strummer was everything Bono can never be and more. Bono lives in his big ass mansion with his millions while Joe was squating and playing shows that the everyman could afford. Fuck you Bono, sell out!
Not meaning to defend Bono..but he actually seemed genuine in this film. He talks about seeing The Clash in Dublin when he was 17 and you can see from how he tells the story that it was an incredibly important event to him. For once he's actually speaking from the heart and not just preaching.
roxann, he just means that wnenever he met a kid who never heard of him, it brought him back to earth, grounded him unlike many rock stars who'd be turned off by that kid. They were so huge in europe, unlike the usa.
Joe was famous for being in the greatest band who truly represented their fans. He wrote many protest songs and deeply cared about the world and its unfair repression. The answer for me is all three!
We all have to some day. He left us so much though. It's what you take from him that matters and when you carry him with you, in whatever way, he can never truly die. I always ask my self WWJD? What would Joe do?
What's the song like in the intro?, I can't quite get it

Hola nuevamente, hermano uruguayo (:
La verdad que la película me impresionó, muy elocuente, completa, y tiene unas animaciones de los dibujos del Sr. Strummer impresionantes... Pero sobre todo, muy emotiva. Salí llorando de la sala XD
Altamente recomendable ^^
Saludos, y mucha suerte.

I took llly's and but them on the place. listen to what sucker Bono says: if the clash could do it, everybody can. please, shut ur mouth and go fuck urself! u don't deserve to be in the movie. nor on the face of earth!
LorKarzak 3 years ago 5
He said, "You" not "Everybody". I'm pretty sure Bono is complementing the Clash.
neversummer40 3 years ago
I think what bono meant was that since the clash didnt come off as being pretentious rock stars, and presented themselves as normal human beings, that they encouraged other normal human beings to go out and start bands and make names for themselves.

Can't wait to ge my bleedin' fingers on this film! Joe was/is my best hero of all time. I saw him several times and was never dissapointed. The "warlord" was truly magnificent. It's great to see my 7 & 5 year old tell their friends about the Clash and sing their songs.

should read "...I like U2, but..."
CairoKid 4 years ago
I kinda agree with AmbulanceProductions. I lie U2, but something about Bono just rubs me wrong for some reason...Long live the Clash!!!!! Joe Strummer RIP!!! Mick Jones A-OK!! Topper Headon A-1 (wrote and played all the music to "Rock the Casbah", Joe did the lyrics). CLASH FOREVER!!!!

PUNK ROCK WARLORD!!! (yes!!)
Can't wait to see the flick.

I dont think sitting around ,writting all these magnifiecent things
but doing nothing more ,is smthing that'd make J.S happy.
What he d really like and love from all of us who admire, him and his work,
would be nothing more than be ourselves and try our best for making this
world a better place (and many many other things you already know).

i know TONS of ppl tht have never heard of the Clash. its soo weird. im like 14 and i love them!! we miss u Joe!!!
guitargczr699 4 years ago 4
Look at you, 14 and loving Joe. How does that happen? You restore my faith in the young teens that I thought didn't have a clue what real music was all about. Well done young man, you'll go far.
Gordiemats 4 years ago 3
I was 14 when I first heard the Clash. My older sister brought an album home from her college library, and I STILL remember the day. I'm sure I don't have to tell you why. Rock n' roll epiphany. Same with Joy Division. =)
cattachi 4 years ago 3
yeah, im 15 and theres almost no one in my age who has heard of the clash or joe strummer, it´s sad
cissi92 4 years ago 3
Joe Strummer was much more than a musician, he asked us to think with his lyrics, and Mick Jones added the guitar. He honestly thought that we could become better people and change the world...yet, here we are, and Joe is dead. Joe, we miss you.
181shelby 4 years ago 5
Bono needs to get his sell out ass of this movie. Joe Strummer was everything Bono can never be and more. Bono lives in his big ass mansion with his millions while Joe was squating and playing shows that the everyman could afford. Fuck you Bono, sell out!
AmbulanceProductions 4 years ago 8
Not meaning to defend Bono..but he actually seemed genuine in this film. He talks about seeing The Clash in Dublin when he was 17 and you can see from how he tells the story that it was an incredibly important event to him. For once he's actually speaking from the heart and not just preaching.

I have a 10 year old who is into the Clash
moneyman7359 4 years ago 2
That's a weird thing to say though, the one about the 17 year old kid that never heard of the clash. It's weird.
roxannadeadflower 4 years ago
roxann, he just means that wnenever he met a kid who never heard of him, it brought him back to earth, grounded him unlike many rock stars who'd be turned off by that kid. They were so huge in europe, unlike the usa.

hey guys i need to catch up on this, what was joe s. famous for? his guitar playing or singing or compositions?
guitarshredder123123 4 years ago
Joe was famous for being in the greatest band who truly represented their fans. He wrote many protest songs and deeply cared about the world and its unfair repression. The answer for me is all three!

Why did he have to die?!
TheNWRA 4 years ago
We all have to some day. He left us so much though. It's what you take from him that matters and when you carry him with you, in whatever way, he can never truly die. I always ask my self WWJD? What would Joe do?
