  • What's the song like in the intro?, I can't quite get it

  • alcohol can do amazing things

  • So cool i turned Joe's BBC aircheck into a voicemail notification on my Droid X.

    The movie is phenominal.

i have great admiration for Julien Temple; he's a brilliant director.

  • @fleursbones me too.

  • Hey now I'm 16 and punk rock is the best. I now know that smart people are interested in good music.. Not Justin bieber...

  • God, I wish I could've been around in the 70s. Being 16 nowadays means Justin Bieber ,Miley Cyrus, Kanye West... ew, ew, ew. It really depresses me. The difference between Bieber etc and The Clash is that in 50 years time, people are still going to be listening to Joe, but not to those other shits. Rant over ;)

  • Bono's a bellend

  • There are only two kinds of Sarahs. Exceptionally beautiful and exceptionally not. And the beautiful ones never know that the are.

  • Er ist am besten!!!! Joe Strummer du bist doch ein Gott!!

  • 00:43

    A hippie Joe Strummer!

  • Everyone lay off Bono

  • can't see why anyone compares bono (the cock) with strummer (the legend)

  • PUNK ROCK WARLORD

  • Would you like to meet our manager while he's here? He invented punk. It's obviously too much for him.... Haha Joe.

  • I remember listening to Complete Control for the first time in 1977. It was like standing next to to a jet engine warming up. Never really recovered from it.

Made a big impression on me and has been embedded into my DNA forever. Using word classic is an understatement to say the least.

  • yeah, if Bono had half the depth that joe had he wouldn't say that. The clash were brave enough to be themselves, that's a rare thing.

  • Yeah!!!

....I really hate seeing Bono in this though

  • Joe Strummer: Punk Rock Warlord! Thanks Joe!

  • Fus as fuk....new haven 1980

  • I love this movie so much.

anyone knows why it's called The future is unwritten?

  • So now I'd like to say, people can change anything they want to and that means anything in the world. People are running about following their little tracks and I am one of them. But we've all got to stop just following our own little mouse trail. People can do anything, this is something I am beginning to learn. People are out there doing bad things to each other, it's because they are being de-humanised. It's time to take the humanity back into the centre of the ring and follow that for a time

  • Sorry I meant to say if you read the above quote against the other quote you get the picture the future is written. People have more power than goverments and banks. So the future is truly unwritten are we gonna just keep settling for more of the same. Or are we gonna change ourselves and hence the world? I am striving to be the change I want to see in the world. Its easier to tear down than build up. Making something better is the hard bit! google "The Peoples United Community" (TPUC)

  • @brendawalsh9021o "the future is unwritten is on the cover of know your rights single, its all about making your own future"

  • @STRUMMER772003 thank you!

  • @brendawalsh9021o that was his slogan duh

  • Punk Rock Warlord is right.

  • @ruttman15 yup that is true

  • JOe Strummer is a hero

  • greatest movie i have ever seen. listening to Joe and the Clash has made me who i am today. it is such a horrable thing dying that early after doing so much in his life, he will never be forgotten!

    R.I.P. Joe

  • long live joe

  • no lip syncing, no dancing!

    Hard working punk gods!

  • Great music. Even better person

  • FucK! what a movie. A true punk rock "warlord".

  • i saw this when it debuted... then, a month ago, a friend lent me the video and i thought, "can i go through this again?".

damned right. besides the hype and the legend, Joe Strummer, for all his faults, was the king of a person you wish celebrities would turn out to be. savvy. connected. a good bloke.

and, yes, Julien Temple put together great visuals and music. don't neglect the extra interviews.

  • was it a good movie?

  • Happy New Years JoeRock the Angels in Heaven Bro!!!

  • joe rocks. way to bad he died

  • RIP Joe Strummer... gone but never forgotten.

  • I was broke and spent all my money but for a good cause, As soon as I get my measly paycheck I'll get this docu for the bloke who fought the laws, World economy is in recession, This cold weather is most distressin' There's nothing worth buying out there but this gem is the exception,

  • I love the clash and Joe

I wish I could find this in a store somewhere

    Punk Not Dead!

  • I think its Palmolive of the Slits, she lived with Joe for a while.

  • who shoots at 1:20?

  • I've just cried.

I love him and I will never meet him.

  • so sorry man- I got the chance to meet him and it was amazing BOTH times-

  • r.i.p... we luv u Joe.

  • It is a good movie....:)

  • haha! at 01:00 the manager of the clash, Bernies Rhodes has passed out when drinking XD and Joe says, not to be captain obvious but the sound quality is bad, "he invented punk, it was obviously to much for him"

It's known that Bernie Rhodes was a self-centered bastard taking credit for the entire music revolution that is punk.

  • I pisses me off when i see pictures sayin his birht and death year as if there was an end to Joe strummer !! dont people get it ! he is not dead , he is a leged and he was The Lord Of Punk and he will never die, he has been immortalized ! God Bless Joe Strummer and The Clash and all the fans easpeacially the new ones like me!! :D

  • you know what, thats a really good point

i never thought about it that way

  • ....se un idiota

  • waaaa è proprio orrendo qst cantante...come la musica rock!!!!

  • How can someone that lissened to the clash ever go on two form U2. Bonos is a wanker

  • no thats Joe at 1:34

  • Look forward to seeing this.

Bit disappointed they only use one song in the trailer, though. Whereas the Clash were pure punk in the beginning and more pop towards the end, it's their middle period that was the sweet spot.

  • At 1:34, that`s John Lennon speaking isn`t it? I read once Lennon said he was into punk but not the guys who kill themselves which I guess was a dig at Sid Vicious. Anyway, Joe is the only human being I`ve ever seen who was actually born with Spock ears. Has anyone ever noticed that? The dude had Spock ears.

  • he he thats funny :P i noticed that too

  • @Edhallick no its JS

  • Fuck off Bonno, youre a fucking, up your own arse, wanker

    RIP Joe

  • sto film è stupendo *___* e mi ha fatto vedere Joe sotto una luce diversa ... non è il solito montato che dopo il successo se ne frega d tutti, è un uomo ... normale.

    RIP

  • LO DEEEEEEEEVO VEDEREEEEEEEEEEEEE

    sono già al cinema....

    quando inizia???

  • im sorry to burst your bubble to the person who said ramones and pistols are the shit compared to clash... the clash are professors and icons when it comes to those two bands.... they dont just get on stage and "work their image" and break microphones(pistols) and cut their skins and act like fucking dogs THE CLASH are a CLASSSSSSSSS ACT so research music and many sides of them or just listen to their fucking songs and youll fucking KNOW!!!!!!!!

  • Joe Strummer is a rich mans johnny thunder

  • Joe Strummer is a johnny thunder with talent and brains. Not just some stlyish looking clothes

  • anyone know when the DVD is coming to the USA I have really gotten into the clash in the past year. I must have listend to every one of their songs by now. And i need the Doc when is it coming to america? Im pissed i missed it in thearters

  • fucking Bono has nothing on Joe Strummer

  • haha, that's what I was thinking

  • i agree...bono is a bloody cunt..he totally spolied the movie with his stupid remarks...Joe was other stuff...

  • Got to give credit to Bono for openly loving Joy Division and the Clash so much.

However, U2 are one of the most over-rated bands of all time. Or at least, the Coldplay of the 80's. He shouldn't act like the musical pope.

  • @tomsega hey man U2 have made some of the most influential albums, their early work is ground breaking dont be hating cos theyre successful and mainstream hes got more talent in his pinky finger than you do in your whole being. music snobs. geeeeeeesus.

  • @Saradrummer - I look at perhaps the biggest and most acclaimed modern bands since, The Pixies, Nirvana, Radiohead, Blur, Massive Attack, Portishead, The Arcade Fire, and none of them were influenced by U2.... The Smiths, The Clash, The Cure and Joy Division were all far more influential than Bono!!

  • @tomsega hey you pretty much outlined all my favorite bands BUT how do you know what influences people cmon man stop being a hipster U2 moves A LOT of people and just cos all these people arent killing themselves in bands like joy division doesnt mean their opinions dont count. The Edge is one of the greatest guitarists and most ground breaking in terms of sfx and what not and Bonos voice is incredible. "Ohhhhhh the smiths and the cure and joy division!!!.." get original.

  • @Saradrummer Don't be a faggot all your life

  • @Saradrummer - Looking at perhaps the biggest and most important bands since U2; Pixies, Nirvana, Radiohead, Blur, Massive Attack, Portishead, The Arcade Fire, even the Chemical Brothers.... none of them were particularly influenced by U2 with the exception of Radiohead's very earliest album. Joy Division, The Smiths and The Cure were all far more influential than Bono's lot!!

  • @antifascistpunk "Fucking Bono" is shite!!!

  • i watched this today this document

  • I thought this movie was brilliant. It made him a real person...not a god as thought so before. He is my role model, I am so incredibly jealous of those old enough to have seen The Clash live.

  • This popcorn is cold.

  • This trailer seems to divide Strummer's life into two halfs; adolescent and adult.. but it uses the same song twice! I would have liked it if it used white riot for the first bit.. and then a more mature track, like Straight to Hell or Lost in the Supermarket, for the second bit..

  • WOW...Reading about and watching videos/docs on Joe Strummer - and I'm wide-eyed. This man was cool personified...

  • did the dvd release in the US

  • I suggest reading the book

let the fury have the hour the punk rock politics of joe strummer

its the best book i have ever read.

  • How can you call the clash overated!? Theyre the fucking best thing that happened to rock and roll! and im fuckin 15 and I love The clash!

    "White riot"

  • Well I don't know if they were the best thing to happen to rock and roll... considering they weren't rock and roll. But they are really good.

  • Of Course, you don't know them. They were rock n roll. They were punk. They were funk, they were everything.

  • They were rockabilly.

  • Don't mean to sound like a cheese, but watching this has changed me a lot. He's an amazing man.

  • Great Movie .

  • Perhaps we could all appreciate Bono's comment on the Clash once he steps out of his limousine, and stops his pretentious act to 'aid African countries' i.e. U2 album sales. Viva la Strummer!

  • anyone knows were can i get the subtitles for this movie?!!Spanish or english Quiero los subtitulos para esta pelicula!

  • Hola nuevamente, hermano uruguayo (:

(: . Yo tbn t aviso si se d algo. Saludos! pasarla bien!

  • Sí, no lo dudes. Mucha suerte.

  • Can't wait to see this when it gets released in Australia... Met Don Letts (DJ who was close mates of The Clash and filmed plenty of their live footage) in London last October, when he was the headline act for the 30-year anniversary of the Rock Against Racism gig The Clash were meant to have headlined in '77 over there. Hoping to see some rare video footage of that gig, cos 30yrs on it wasn't too well promoted or advertised, & very few people in attendance, even though the bill was top-rate.

  • This is the truth. I was part of a web-site that was "Clash"..I was ear ache I was one of a number. I took llly's and but them on the place. I suppose in a digital world they are worth fuck all....except my names Patrick Gorman are you ready for WAR....well fuck off to the gay boy wfags to lovend if you want a war lets go....

  • listen to what sucker Bono says: if the clash could do it, everybody can. please, shut ur mouth and go fuck urself! u don't deserve to be in the movie. nor on the face of earth!

  • He said, "You" not "Everybody". I'm pretty sure Bono is complementing the Clash.

  • I think what bono meant was that since the clash didnt come off as being pretentious rock stars, and presented themselves as normal human beings, that they encouraged other normal human beings to go out and start bands and make names for themselves.

  • joe is the best !!!!

  • I have the dvd.. and it's a great f***ing movie!

    Joe is the king

  • I want to see this movie so bad. Joe Strummer is my hero.

  • yeah, im 15 now and i've known joe strummer since i was about 8. he was a truly amazing guy that certainly had a hand in raising me. When i was a kid i was never seen without a photo of Joe my stepdad gave me just after he died.

  • OH SHIT, i never knew there was a movie about Joe Strummer!!!! holy man. I wanna see it. Anyone seen it?

  • I saw it in the theatre in L.A. ... absolutely amazing footage of his life. I loved it, loved it, loved it.

  • i'am 15 to and i konw the clash and joe strummer as i was 13

  • amazing man and movie

  • i finally saw this!! what a fantastic film. It just makes you think, one minute your sat on the sofa with your kids, reading the paper, the next your dead. it can be that quick.

  • yeeessssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Can't wait to ge my bleedin' fingers on this film! Joe was/is my best hero of all time. I saw him several times and was never dissapointed. The "warlord" was truly magnificent. It's great to see my 7 & 5 year old tell their friends about the Clash and sing their songs.

  • should read "...I like U2, but..."

  • I kinda agree with AmbulanceProductions. I lie U2, but something about Bono just rubs me wrong for some reason...Long live the Clash!!!!! Joe Strummer RIP!!! Mick Jones A-OK!! Topper Headon A-1 (wrote and played all the music to "Rock the Casbah", Joe did the lyrics). CLASH FOREVER!!!!

  • PUNK ROCK WARLORD!!! (yes!!)

Can't wait to see the flick.

  • I dont think sitting around ,writting all these magnifiecent things

but doing nothing more ,is smthing that'd make J.S happy.

What he d really like and love from all of us who admire, him and his work,

would be nothing more than be ourselves and try our best for making this

world a better place (and many many other things you already know).

  • Joe Stummer is one of the most influential people on my life... it makes me soo sad to know i'll never see him in this life

  • Me too it´s incrediplethat i´ve never the chance again...

  • Who is Joe Stummer? Imagine if he was as bad a speller as you, he would have sung "I'm so bored with the UAS!

  • hey men...maybe you need to listen to a song by cowboy mouth called "joe strummer" talks about a guy who left his girl 'cos she didn´t know who joe strummer was...great song

  • i know TONS of ppl tht have never heard of the Clash. its soo weird. im like 14 and i love them!! we miss u Joe!!!

  • Look at you, 14 and loving Joe. How does that happen? You restore my faith in the young teens that I thought didn't have a clue what real music was all about. Well done young man, you'll go far.

  • I was 14 when I first heard the Clash. My older sister brought an album home from her college library, and I STILL remember the day. I'm sure I don't have to tell you why. Rock n' roll epiphany. Same with Joy Division. =)

  • yeah, im 15 and theres almost no one in my age who has heard of the clash or joe strummer, it´s sad

  • Joe Strummer was much more than a musician, he asked us to think with his lyrics, and Mick Jones added the guitar. He honestly thought that we could become better people and change the world...yet, here we are, and Joe is dead. Joe, we miss you.

  • Bono needs to get his sell out ass of this movie. Joe Strummer was everything Bono can never be and more. Bono lives in his big ass mansion with his millions while Joe was squating and playing shows that the everyman could afford. Fuck you Bono, sell out!

  • Not meaning to defend Bono..but he actually seemed genuine in this film. He talks about seeing The Clash in Dublin when he was 17 and you can see from how he tells the story that it was an incredibly important event to him. For once he's actually speaking from the heart and not just preaching.

  • I can't find this movie. Is it on DVD already?

  • I have a 10 year old who is into the Clash

  • That's a weird thing to say though, the one about the 17 year old kid that never heard of the clash. It's weird.

  • roxann, he just means that wnenever he met a kid who never heard of him, it brought him back to earth, grounded him unlike many rock stars who'd be turned off by that kid. They were so huge in europe, unlike the usa.

  • hey guys i need to catch up on this, what was joe s. famous for? his guitar playing or singing or compositions?

  • Joe was famous for being in the greatest band who truly represented their fans. He wrote many protest songs and deeply cared about the world and its unfair repression. The answer for me is all three!

  • obituary....

    ....pero el pasado está grabado

  • Miss you Joe...

  • can i just pick this up at a record store or do i have to order it online

  • i have the movie poster!!!!!

  • Why did he have to die?!

  • We all have to some day. He left us so much though. It's what you take from him that matters and when you carry him with you, in whatever way, he can never truly die. I always ask my self WWJD? What would Joe do?

  • just when joe could not seem more incredible

    this is it

  • Best music documentary ever...Joe Strummer is god...
