  • @StaphaneGrapelli I think 5/4

  • Un grand musicien que j'ai pu voir deux fois en concert... GEANTISSIME !! Merci Monsieur Ponty...

  • One of the most thoughtful and musically satisfying of soloists.

  • saw this group with JLP about 5 years ago, amazing, so tight!

  • He's lack of ego gives so much back to the listener. Jean-luc is concerned about the MUSIC :-)

  • Jean-luc is just one of the best improvisors on earth. Forget about K.

    Jarret......

    Jean-luc has no attitudes.....just a 200% concentration an MAKING MUSIC :-)

  • A truly progressive musician, no matter the genre or decade.

  • Wow! Beautiful Song

  • A MASTER showman! Not many like him left.

  • @apostolic38 ponty rules and I knew about him an zappa because my father liked him an I heard tons of zappa and ponty songs all though growing up. An yup most music today are shittie.

Linkin park, coldplay, slipknot, etc. are the worst bands ever! Same with lady gaga and 2pac and all the main stream hard rock, and hip hop/rnb

  • Found Ponty through his work with Frank Zappa, you can really hear alot of Zappaish influences in alot of his work and I think thats what I love about it.

A música dele é complexa, veloz, exige minuciosa atenção.

  • Words for what ? Is Jean Luc Ponty and his quality.

  • His music is timeless. I watched the music awards recently, and couldnt believe the shit that is currently being produced ! What's worse, is that people actually buy it...

Jean Luc needs to tour the states more....

  • bravo maestro

  • Every keyboardist from this era has to wear the coolest shirts ever designed. *CORRECTION* Every keyboardist from every era has to wear the coolest shirts ever designed.

  • Every keyboardist from this era has to wear the coolest shirts ever designed.

  • saw this guy sooo fucking amped up , drunk as hell cause i was so excited, 2nd row screaming and dancing like at a dead show, turns out you dont dance to ponty who knew...He looked at my girl and i like we were dancing the devil up from hell...

  • Just awesome playing by everyone! Amazing...now thats good damn music.

  • He is a musical genius, i wish there was a "Love" button to click instead of a "like" button!

  • The Best!!!!

  • very nice ! です.

  • Im a 21 year old guy with LOTS of respect for this here man! Know him because of my dad has some unusual taste for music, but then again, GREAT*** MUSIC!

  • Simply the best!

  • COL REAL COOL LOVING THE JAZZ

  • My dream concert would be to see John McLaughlin & Jean-Luc play a set together. I would pay anything to see that!

  • é muito viage...ó...

  • i got introduced to his music in the late 70's and got to see him in concert at Grady Gammage Hall in Tempe, AZ...1980??? Amazing music and still sends me off into space to this day. love finding all these vids, though, i'm not getting my work done!

  • They're lizard scales

  • I love this better than the album version, Ponty and the band kill it!!!

  • cause this is some progressive shit not indian

  • it's wonderful how he uses classical indian scales and gives them a new dimension.

  • are these really indian scales?

  • am in love with Jeanluc Ponty and his music.

  • I wonder how many years ago this was.

  • will he ever come to germany? PN pls !

  • Mannnnn His Chord Tonage Soloing is The stuff Dreams are Made of !!

  • His... what? !

  • at ,..6:26 I hear him using tones from the chords being played, along with tones that are very sympathetic to the Vamp/Groove!!

  • Jean Luc Ponty in Atlanta Nov. 15 2009,

    I have ticket's can't wait

  • Just saw them in Oakland on Saturday. They are so tight, that it's like one mind. Have fun.

  • @fmatl2000 How was it? :P

  • Jean Luc Ponty is the best and the band number one,the site it was little but warm is The Variety Play House about 700 people was like VIP concert for me and my wife.

  • @fmatl2000........Yes I was there too, it was an awesome concert. I met him backstage after everyone left and he was so gracious, he and his bandmates. Classic, genius in action! It was a VIP experience..

  • So very French! !

  • Hell yeah!

  • William Lecomte jazzladycc,

Yes, he ,they are wonderful! wonderful!!!!Love. William's Ma.

  • Guy Nsangue Akwa kicks ass on bass man! oh yeah Ponty is the ultimative jazz virtuoso! what great band!

  • Jean Luc Ponty is the greatest. Also, the brother is killing that bass!! Truly Great!!

  • Who is this on keyboards? Great, Great, Great!!!!!

  • how can its possible theres no more material from Ponty ??????????????, one of the biggest ever

  • what are you talking about? He has a lot of albums...

  • i need more ponty man!!! , i cant believe theres no more material available from the master . shame

  • great stuff for a kid who listened to nothing he was a breadth of fresh air rock on jean luc

  • i go a long way back listening to jean-luc -ponty,the man is an absolute master of the violin!!!......check out "auroura",if you know that one you got some good players on that one as well !! oh keyboards too,how about that?

  • como puedo bajar todo este recital?

  • con real player, baja muy rapido, yo ya tengo la coleccion de Jean Luc Ponty!!!

    SALUDOS

  • i wouldn't say that with absolute certainty. who knows who exists out there we have yet to hear.

  • 23concerts75-92formewow...

  • Great tune. Where the hell's Mokhtar Samba?

  • He only recorded the album. Shame, I would have loved to see him do this. I like Thierry Arpino, but ...he doesnt' do this song very well. Not that I could do better, but ..it's just not that well executed.

  • I agree. Samba killed it on the album.

  • Sure did! I was dissapointed when I saw him in Detroit and he didn't have the "recording" group. JLP used to tour w/ his recording group a lot of the time, but not usually 100% of the members, ...I used to like that when he kept them. My fave is the group from the Fables CD !! :D

  • Noel Pointer R.I.P

  • It's funny ( me being an African- American musician) but Jean luc Ponty really opened the door ( Tchkola album )for me to really search out African music like Anjilique Kidjo, Fela Kuti, Brice Wassy, Salief Keita, Les Go Dan Gna and many others.

  • de que año es esto?

  • 2004

  • thanks so much for share this video!!!!! ponty and band are great, hope to see enigmatic ocean video like this!!!!

  • I have this DVD and I simply love it.

TY very much for UL this video =)

  • ELEGANT! Such an amazing tone. JLP is totally chopsalicious and could shred the strings right off if he wanted to but he NEVER plays for the notes (i.e. to impress) but always for the music. I'd give this 6 stars if I could. PS check out JLP live album from 1979 - it's rare but very worthwhile!

  • @sloiselle1 LOVE....off da hook...he's incredible!

  • The fact that this has under 3000 views and avril lavigne's girlfriend has over 80 million makes me wanna puke.

  • you are right, i agree with you, but remember we are only few people like you and me, that has refine ears, this is not for everybody!!!

  • for who seed the avril video thier world is small

  • ...and straight into the favourites this GOES!!!!! lol :O)

  • damn great jazz

  • If you are going to play drums with Ponty, you better be good. Polyrithmicity rules here!

  • Not taking anything away from Thierry, but he's not doing anything "poly" in this...odd time, changing time, yes, ...Now..the beginning is an entire poly that the whole band is doing ....that's brilliant :)

  • jean luc has a special touch in on style, i got so many music collection and one of them is ponty, pat metheny, keith jarrett and miles davis. great video, thank you!!!!

  • fantastic...
