I had one of these in 87, cost me £800 plus £150 interest. Crazy amounts, probably the equivalent of 3k now. Sold it for £550 a year later because I was flat broke. It played great, although I could hardly plat at all at the time.

Had this exact guitar. Sold it long ago and bought a Kramer NightSwan. The Model 6 was nice, but I prefer the feel of the NightSwan.

I had an identical white/Kahler mod 6's in 87. Paid close to £1000 for it. Crazy money! I Didn't like the pickup switches that much, altho it gives you the neck and bridge option u don't get on a five way, but it's fidgety. I recall the neck was amazingly good and the pick ups hot.

i Have a 1985 charvel guitar, 3 pick ups jackson , black neck made in U.S.A.(T.M.) charvel. it has a black bridge> kahler (T.M.) made in U.S.A,with tremolo it was pink before but im not sure if that was the original color, is made in CA. San Dimas 4 serial number Gold 5046 . if someone is interested in a 1985 charvel guitar send me a message you can ask for the condition of the guitar, and how much can i sell it to you. its really old and i have tested before Your gonna love it.

I had a Yamaha RGX120MA maple neck and active pickups clearly made to complete with these. Bought new for $550 in 1990. I was flush with cash and was sold up on this guitar. Played like a dream but nowhere to be found now.

Most RGX's are lower end without active pickups and the maple neck.

Will pay $500 for one if anyone comes across one!

You can't go wrong with a Charvel.

Beautiful guitars i am not a fan of their line of guitars they produce now, I'm a fan of old school guitars.

I love guitars with a bit of history instead of taking it of the stand in a store and there is no character old guitars have so much character especially Charvels. love them!!

I bought one in really nice shape a couple of years ago on Ebay for $350. These things are a great deal - I remember seeing them in the late 80's in music stores for about a grand.

Im curious about the tremelo as well...a buddy of mine jut gave me a charvel/jackson guitar body and neck with no electronics or hardware...your guitar is very similar to what I have...Im thinking of putting EMG pickups in it...what do the three switches do? My guitar has the 3-holes ...anyone know where to get Charvel parts? Thanks

As far as the kahler trem get ahold of Wammi world they have a web site and they are out of Arizona. I have talked to the guy before he seems really nice and knows his stuff when it comes to kahlers, as far as the rest of the stuff old Jackson stuff would most likely be the same still commom on alot of guitars today.

Is that a Kahler tremolo? I never got into those. You could never get the range out of them that you can from a Floyd Rose.

I don't understand why Kahler's got such a bad rap you can adjust the string spacing and height without extra parts Floyd requires shims to adjust individual height and spacing is non-adjustable and as far as range, I'm assuming pull-up and dive how far do you really need to go? The only quirks they had was tuning instability which is an easy fix chapstick is the perfect lube and the nut needs to be replaced with a graphite one the awesome tone from a well set up Kahler kicks a Floyd to the curb

Nice! I have an '88 Model 6 that I bought from a pawn shop about 9 years ago for about $250(guess they didn't know what they really had). Mine had the Jackson Floyd Rose but it just got worn out over time and started falling apart. I'm in the process now of replacing it.

I have the exact same guitar in fire crackle, bought it about 1987 i think, cost 720 English pounds back then, haven't played it for a good while because of marriage and kids but i'm thinking of blowing the cobwebs off it again. The great Eddie Van Halen played it for about 30 seconds when he was guest opener of the store ( or so the store keeper told me ), i am obviously a little sceptical about this part of the tale but it's nice to dream...
