I am about as transparent as it gets. Flying under the radar with my 24/7 in 2011 cast on Stickam. So your words are spot on. Being genuine is easier than ever...if not not full of it.
I agree and disagree at the same time. This is very insightful and very honest, like everything else that comes from Gary. And yes, total exposure is doing wonders in separating real deals from fakes. Yet at the same time, any system can be gamed. And so is any media. With enough resources those who want to put on a believable show can do this now even better than before. The new media is not only good for honesty. Unfortunately it's also good for simulating honesty.
there is some truth in that, but hard not to be jaded by watching how politicians get away with so much by simply having their own spin machines. Likely we do not have enough re$ources to counted a social sh*t storm we create, so this applies to the small time operator for sure. rock on Gary!
It's really quite spooky isn't it? I'm thinking about right now as I am typing that with the right search keywords, anyone will be able to read this comment in say 10 years from now or more. I did the math the other day and figured out that 4 to 5 people are looking at my videos every second of every day and some things that I did a long time ago on the web will be there forever. Even if I become a nun or the first lady, I can't ever take it back from cyberspace. Hope I like what I said L8R
I do not agree especially not on the good people win vs bad people lose comments. If anything the internet provides a platform which facilitates criminal activities or being dishonoust. Phishing sites for example.
Or the company that delivers a rubbish product but has a very good looking trust invoking website.
What is good and what is bad is worth a discussion on its own in my opinion and that line might not always be as clear as we like it to be.
Well, I think what he is saying has more to do with people who do any sort of research. If someone delivers a 'rubbish product' but has a good presentation, you still always have the option to google it and find out what other people say about it. So yeah, there will always be those who don't do their homework and are easily duped, but hopefully they will learn from this. Once they do, they will have entered the world that Gary's message applies to.
Gary refers to businesses. Sure you don't have to update your twitter or facebook. But if you don't, you will lose out to your competitors in the long run.
and I'm not too sure about what he says about "No Privacy" and "people will know what you're doing 24/7". Twitter and Facebook only updates when you go onto Twitter and Facebook, so if you really DON'T want to update those, it stops the whole process
but I (reluctantly) agree with him. I know people with split personalities and they're starting to bleed into each other with help of twitter and facebook
I absolutely agree with you Gary. In another video you mentioned being able to argue form both sides of an argument. A person is interpreted to be inconsistent when he/she offers conflicting opinions on different days. The flip side of that is speaking with 100% conviction on a matter you believe in, which has exception or flaws.
Keep v-blogig on new media. Your perception on this topic are thought provoking.
He means directly, in your day to day life, in REAL LIFE. Not on the internet. What he means is that the internet will enable anyone to take anything they got on you and make it known. No more contradictions from presidents like bush, without someone making a blog that shows video of him saying the opposite just a year before...
More anonymity then ever! So true. But thats a good thing too! Because fake religions like Scientology have to deal with the 'Anonymous' people who work to expose them.
I guess if you're Britney Spears or Michael Jackson, you have a point. But more most practical applications, you couldn't be more wrong. I could troll some blog as SuperHotMoma4356, and it would never likely effect my "real" life (granted, it would be debatable that I'd have one). The Internet has made a lot of things transparent, but it also allows for a far greater degree of anonymity than ever before.
Good point...I just don't know what I want to be to the world yet...I guess a little bit of everything...serious, fun, silly, all business, all play. :)
Exactly!! :) Well said Gary!
