Yeah Susan/Caspian was plain weird. Even though I enjoy mocking the BBC version, it stayed closer to the books than did the Disney version and honestly the BBC version brings back some good memories not to mention the cooler theme song.

I am fortunate to have grown up with them. I have "evil" plans to make my kids fall in love with this version before revealing the existence of the newer one. Wow, what a waste of the cordial. Flinging drops of it onto a little scrape on the back of Trumpkin's hand. A bunch of it just dropped on the ground, too. THUMBS DOWN, LUCY. :P
As I said before, if u have grown up with the old Narnia Films, then u appreciate them alot more. I grew up with these films and i love them because they remind me of my childhood. The new ones are good as well, but the younger generation will obviously appreciate them more, i personally think that the younger generations have been spoilt with how good TV and film making is nowadays...
I think the casting choices for the Pevensies in this version were perfect for the boys, not so much the girls.
I always pictured Lucy as looking cuter than this, and Susan is supposed to be dark haired not blondish.I do like the casting choices for Eustace and Jill though
On the other hand I think they did a GREAT job casting the Penvensies in the new version.
I do disapprove of them adding things like Susan/Caspian in the new flicks though.Whats the point?
@gtw1983 The director thought if a boy like Caspian and a girl like Susan were together then they would have some feelings towards each other, so he put it in the movie.
wow...im sry but this is nothing compared to the new versions...the cast, the filmaking, everything in the new one is amazing...but this is not very good at all...
it is nearly 25 years old and was done on a budget of license payers money, of course it's not going to be as good as a £100,000,000+ disney production! it still has it's merits though and was amazing for it's time. i'm watching it from start to finish for the great memories it brings up...
@mercsmania Do you remember how much it cost to make all 4 of these movies? I know they did them in 30 mins episodes and 4 stories but 3 total movies./ The only thing I know is that BBC productions asnd Wonder Works did them for how much I don't know.
@thebig1 i can't recall how much it was, but i did a websearch and the figure ranges from anywhere between £16,000 (seems too low) to £100,000. a lot less than the £140,000,000 the hollywood one enjoyed!
GOD Lucy is so annoying. but i really like trumpkin so that kinda makes up for it. she does look a bit like a beaver though which doesn't help things...
Peters a little hottie, he used to be my fav. But LUCYS helmet head of hair and chubby wide face are PAINFUL. I always remember in the Voyage of the Dawn treader when she goes up those stairs and looks in those mirrors and her face stretchhhess. OUCH!
this is such a classic! i used to watch this every christmas, and i bought the dvds a couple of years ago. i also like the new ones, but the bbc version holds a special place in my heart..
The present movie is only great because of the special effects and music and the beautiful-face-guy Ben Barnes but it doesn't stay true to the story because they need Ben for fan girl's sake.
The acting has a big impact. Most here can't act... especially the Pevensie kids. Not to mention that they did deviate quite a bit here from the source material... even moreso, I think, than then new film.
I think that the Pevensie Kids acted very well here and in these BBC Series. It's the new kids that can't act especially the new girl who played Susan. She sucked! But I do think that the new movie was better than this one in many ways. I love how they gave Caspian more character and Ben Barns was awesome as Caspian.
I still like the BBC version of The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe best though.
i think anna popplewell(susan) did a great job. she's only a beginner.but she got the part which is so hard to get. imagine, millions have auditioned but she got the part.!
Well I still think that they could have made a better choice than Anna. I don't see why she got that role at all. I always saw Susan as a blond anyway, but that's just me. Everyone has their own prefreces. :)
BTW, can someone tell me why my replys don't go under the comments I reply to, like everyone elses????
She isn't good looking at all and she is such a bad actor! Susan was suposse to be beautiful, right? And I think Ben Barns really suited the role of Caspian. He's good looking and a good actor!
Ben Barnes while fantastic in the film is too old to be the Caspian of the book - on the other hand the aesthetic choice to make him older in the film in no way impaired the film - in fact it made it more accesible as a film because it provided a much stronger lead character
That's what I'm saying. I know Ben was too old to be the Caspian of the book but at the same time so was William Mosley to be the Peter of the book. I guess they just had to find a Caspian close to Peter's age in the movie or else it wouldn't be believable.
Well, the description of Lucy in the end of LWW is that she has golden hair. =3 So, yeah...xD Lucy is officially a blond. I forgot if the book mentioned the hair color of the other Pevensies, but it really doesn't matter since you can imagine whatever hair color you want for them! ^^ CSL was always so good at leaving it all up to the imagination.
yes, and also because of the acting and the action, so what if Ben Barnes is incredibly handsome and sexy, its not his fault, and it does stay sorta true to the story (yes, i've read it) it keeps the parts that will be better for the viewers, during the prince caspian movie i never got bored- this is a different story
Ben is okay but I got a feeling that he is just going to be used until all the girls are grown up and then what is left for him? Does he even want to do some serious acting?
if one were to play 7:55, one would notice how peter pulled something on the tree to make an arrow spring out of it. that's an easter egg, kids, check it out.
'dont throw me in the river i cant swim!' u dont need to swim its only a 2 foot deep river 'quick its drifting!' shit its only drifting slowly to the other side of the river in a virtually none exsistant current.
one thing they cut out of this movie, that will probably be in the new movie, is that this entire time they've been totally awful to her. Besides, she did have to put up with them being disbelieving of her in LWW. I'd be worse, I promise.
in the book, Edmund believes her because how he behaved towards her in the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. And there's a time later where Lucy says, "If you don't come with me, I'm going on my own" and the only person who fights her is Susan.
except that the majority of people watching this movie actually LIKE it. Some of us even like it enough to watch it two or three or a gazillion times. I've seen it 6 times in the last 2 months. Some people like the movie. They may not agree with certain parts of it, but they like it, and don't agree that its crappy.
The movie came out in the 80s. It's not going to be as "good" as the junk they come out with these days.
@NightmareDolly I know that I made those comments two years ago...but I just wan to apologize for being rude! I didn't like the movies then however that's definitely not how I should have handeled it! And regardless of what I said 2 years ago I do enjoy the movies a lot!!!
she's cuter in the new movie, I'll admit. I always wondered why she seemed so old. Did you know Sophie Wilcox and the boy who plays Edmund are the same age?
Yeah, and Sophie Cook (who plays Susan) and Richard Dempsey (who plays Peter) are also the same age. That's another thing I like about the Disney movie. They're not the same ages in that movie.
she probably didn't have good dental work. British people have notoriously bad teeth because they don't fluoridate their water or something. And if this was her first/second movie and her parents weren't very well to do, they might not have been able to afford braces or whatever.
so? I know our health system sucks. I'm American, but I'm not stupid. But it is still true that Britain doesn't fluoridate its drinking water, and the fluoride in the water in America is what strengthens children's teeth as they grow and develop, and there have been case studies showing that people who drink unfluoridated water have worse teeth than those who don't.
flouride is the only thing currently known that strengthens the enamel on teeth.
I'd rather have strong teeth that will last me a long time and have to drink a lot of milk to strengthen my bones, than have disgusting teeth and still have cruddy bones because no one stresses the importance of drinking milk.
I'M sorry to interupt but, why are the britains so, so, different from us americans i mean, yeah, they don't drink that un flouridated water. but the question is, who's more obese? them or us?
I prefer the old Chornicholes of narnia than the new ones

I just wanted people to be warned for it's crappieness!!!!!!!!
srstarshine 4 years ago
except that the majority of people watching this movie actually LIKE it.
NightmareDolly 4 years ago
The Lion, the witch, and the wardrobe came out "these days" and I happen to like it way better and do not find it "junk".So there!!!
srstarshine 4 years ago
oh good grief
I meant junk as a noun
it was not a slam on the quality of the movie
i like both Lion, Witch, Wardrobe movies equally
the POINT you're deliberately trying to dance around is that just because you don't like this movie doesn't mean you need to bash it

@NightmareDolly I know that I made those comments two years ago...but I just wan to apologize for being rude! I didn't like the movies then however that's definitely not how I should have handeled it! And regardless of what I said 2 years ago I do enjoy the movies a lot!!!

I couldn't stand this Lucy- she was not the Lucy from the story.
I also think her teeth are ridiculous. I know that's cruel, but good Lord, she was annoying.
juliatheepic 4 years ago 2
I agree with u, Lucy is kinda annoying in this version lol
GeneralAmeli0 4 years ago
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this Lucy is annoying. I definitely prefer the Lucy from the new movie.
cflat28 4 years ago
she's cuter in the new movie, I'll admit. I always wondered why she seemed so old. Did you know Sophie Wilcox and the boy who plays Edmund are the same age?
NightmareDolly 4 years ago
Yeah, and Sophie Cook (who plays Susan) and Richard Dempsey (who plays Peter) are also the same age. That's another thing I like about the Disney movie. They're not the same ages in that movie.

I KNOW!!!!

she probably didn't have good dental work. British people have notoriously bad teeth because they don't fluoridate their water or something. And if this was her first/second movie and her parents weren't very well to do, they might not have been able to afford braces or whatever.
NightmareDolly 4 years ago
That's pretty good, coming from someone in a country with one of the most unjust health systems in the world!
sightvisit 4 years ago
NightmareDolly 4 years ago
And there have been newer studies showing that flouride destroys the bones in the body.
Delpheas 4 years ago
so does soda
boo hoo
drink milk- calcium builds bones.
flouride is the only thing currently known that strengthens the enamel on teeth.
I'd rather have strong teeth that will last me a long time and have to drink a lot of milk to strengthen my bones, than have disgusting teeth and still have cruddy bones because no one stresses the importance of drinking milk.
NightmareDolly 4 years ago
I'M sorry to interupt but, why are the britains so, so, different from us americans i mean, yeah, they don't drink that un flouridated water. but the question is, who's more obese? them or us?
arrictine333 4 years ago
we are
they used to be
then McDonalds was invented
however, I've also read that Britain has more people with eating disorders like anorexia and bullimia than America does.
so we're equally crappy when it comes to food intake, it's just two different sides of the spectrum.
NightmareDolly 4 years ago 2
oh, and if flouride destroyed bones in the body, they wouldn't put it in mouthwash and give it to little kids at the dentist.
NightmareDolly 4 years ago
thanks for teh info by the way
