  • Hell, yeah---my mother had this 45 of this when I was a little kid (yeah, I know I'm dating myself) and I got hooked on this song and played the hell out of it. Great and underrrated disco era classic---nice,cool laid-back beat and everything--you're right, mrob75, this tune should have been a way bigger hit than it was. I like how Snoop Dog sampled it for "Gin & Juice" years later!

  • Hit #8 soul, #37 pop. Kept George from bein' a 1 hit wonder on the pop chart. Wirtten also by KC and Richard Finch of the Sunshine band. God bless!

  • Is the 'end' of all Mc Craes songs missing?

  • Any info folks please,i can't play the whole song it cut"s off, around the minute or so thanks a lot.

  • silly!

  • I was like 5 years old when this song came out! I can remember my parents playing it at parties on the weekend. Oh to have those simple days again!!!

  • Impossible ... souvenir souvenir

  • I noticed that Megabelch is writing you. You should be aware that he hangs out on a board devoted to underaged sex with girls. This creep was writing nice things to my daughter about how beautiful he eyes were and then writing terrible things about her on other boards. He says he is a full grown man with a pHD. Please be careful what you say to this man. He is probably a pedophile. DOn't give him any personal information about yourself!

  • We would "bend this slice" on a regular basis at the "Carolina West" near LAX! Sweet as Mom's peach cobbler!

    Thanks for posting!

  • i agree with u mrob75. great song, but it

didn't make it big!!!!! i believe he could have been a bigger artist!!!!

  • KC & The Sunshine Band didn't cover this song.....it was originally by them. Just so happened that Finch and Casey could not hit the high notes and hence they got George to sing on it.

  • @urj210478 .....i think they covered it.....this is the original

  • this kinda sounds like the drums for gin and juice

  • @RALPHpolo1967 you got that right

  • ub40 does a cover of this on the half baked album

  • K C And The Sunshine covered this song too.

  • i remember when this first came out....great "am radio" memories...

  • Does anyone know why the song cuts out at 1:24? There's no more sound after that

  • Keith Murray, Red Head Kingpin...to name a couple

  • I remember when this song was out...It's a GREAT song...but didn't chart very high...I always thought that George McCrae was mismanaged...It's like he could have been a much, much bigger artist under the right management.

  • @mrob75 Yeah. I'm still trying to find out why I had to trip over this song on Youtube to find it.

  • @mrob75

Yes, he was a very good muslim machallah !!

  • I was doing the rocking chair! yeah baby! I was a virgin!

  • This was the JAM!!!!!!!!!!! back in the day. TRUE MUSIC, unlike this MESS they have today........

  • I agree 100%. Today's music stinkeths like horse poo!

  • this trak was the main sample for gin and juice.

    classic beat.

  • CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • not that it matters, but i SWORE that george wrote this song for KC, not the other way around.

anyway, this song is so on fire. and it wasn't even that big a hit back then. nuts!

  • Daaam', Montell Jordan "I like". Good to hear the real thing!

  • No sweetie..this is the man's song ...KC picked it up & re-made it :) but both are great!

  • Don't forget...KC WROTE it!!!!!

I think he wrote all of George and Gwen McCrae's early hits (Rock your baby, Rocking Chair, Funky Sensation, etc) with Richard Finch.

  • Don't forget....... kc CO WROTE the song with KCSB co-founder, Producer / Arranger Rick Finch!!!!!!!!! They co-wrote over 200 songs together and not just the ones in the KCSB catalog. Gotta give props that are based in reality!!! ;-)

  • KC didnt just write it...he and his band are playingall the instruments; he also arranged it...in essence this is KC & Sunshine Bnd feat/ George McCrae.

  • so this is originally kc's song?

  • KC is the funkiest white man ever!!

  • I agree. Along with Darryl Hall and Michael McDonald, KC is one of the hippest, cleanest, most soulful white men on the planet. One of the hippest white women would be Tina Marie.

  • @earrow I don't know. Average White Band is pretty funky.

  • I love this song. I first heard it on the movie Mr. Untouchable. Break out the roller skates

  • Eargasm

  • Who hasnt sampled this record? Sampled by Keith Murray "Get Lifted". Snoop Dogg "Gin & Juice" 50 Cent "How To Rob" Notorious BIG "Respect".

  • Also sampled by Big Daddy Kane on "Mortal Combat".

  • You know, that was one of my things i did in the ninties..i use to buy a ton of cd singles..i was so much into who played what, who did backing vocals, what song was sampled...singles were as cheap as $1.50 at Walmart.... Wow things have changed.

  • gin and juice, was sampled off of this, damnit snoop dog

  • KC picked the perfect singer for this jam.
