That looks like... a lot more effort than it's worth. 22g 1/8 SS was more than fine with pliers. We'll see how the 24g SS I just ordered goes, but I'm sure it'll be a lot easier to use my pliers than mess with something like that. What are the actual benefits of using this?
@N1n4luvzU A ring tool makes working with smaller rings easier by freeing up one hand to hold what it is you're working on. It makes weaving go much faster. Perhaps you should try it and see for yourself.
@tynytian I asked my micromailler friends, and for the most part, I've heard they are a hassle. I mean, personally anything that alters the way I grip my pliers, including the shape of the pliers themselves, bothers me more than helps. However, I guess I can try. I'll see if my uncle has some better wire for it, all I have at the moment is 19.5G half spring SS. Not fun to bend by hand, I promise. I looked for a key ring last night, but oddly, I'm out. o.O
Very nice demonstration. I made mine a while back and i found that its better to find an old pipe that fits over your finger and dremel it out so you can use it with multiple gauges. Just like the actual jump ring tool. But your way its easier and simpler. If i ever loose my ring ill make one of yours for sure. 5/5

using a ring tool makes the work go faster since you don't need to put down the piece you're making.

You have pliers in both hands and use them to close the rings. Why not use them to open the rings as well and skip the ring tool?
