And Rush demonstrated just how much - a long-time favorite, agreed (PJ great 2, 4 sure!)

You hear the click clank at the end lol thats Dave throwing the Drum Sticks at the wall because he got pissed off at how many times they had to play it lol
I don't get it why people keep complaining about how they changed, and whatever
The world changed, and it's still changing, so yeah, they changed with it, it's the natural course, everyone change, so stop crying and enjoy their songs, because they're still Pearl Jam!
This is a great, great fucking song. Really though, just to address the people who say "they lost it after "x" album", any music group or composer has a contemporary clock. Few bands stick around for long periods of time....even bands like the Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd petered out because their core was from a specific era and could grow no more. Pearl Jam is one of the standards of the grunge era and lasted beyond it because of their talent. Appreciate what they are, not just what they were
Pearl jam never sounded this great again , Vitalogy is a good album IMO , but good without Pry to and Bugs...As soon as they sacked Abbruzzese they basically shot themselfs in the foot cos every album since Vitalogy has been not upto the standard of the first 3 albums..
He 'lost his shit' because they made him do it over, and over, and over, to perfect it. And at the end on this last take, he threw his sticks because he knew he'd nailed it, and they decided to leave it in.
Man i just wish music was like this these days, it dosen't get any better than this. This is true talent...their songs set the standard for good music.
I heard one hundred othe shitty bands the guitar riff from the beginning of this, and it upsets me that they are so uncreative that they steal a piece of true rock art. Pearl Jam is one of my favorite rock bands of all time.
@lamentate07 and @mafoota I would definitely recommend listening to "Backspacer" PJ's 2009 release. I have always been a fan and like you lost interest in their in between work. But "Backspacer" really has something to offer.
Anyone that was into rock in the early to mid 90's should remember how vital this album felt at the time. It's a great record, one of the few that has stood up from that era imo.
haven't cared about Pearl Jam since though i must admit.
@mafoota definitely. Pearl Jam were one of the most imitated bands from the so called 'grunge' era too, and this album has especially been influential. it's just a shame that barely anybody did anything constructive with a P.J influence. certainly not bloody Creed! ;-)
(From Wikipedia) "At the end of the studio cut drummer Dave Abbruzzese can be heard throwing his drum sticks against the wall in frustration. This was in response to the pressure that was placed on him by producer Brendan O'Brien during the recording of the track. After recording the track he punched a hole through the snare drum and threw it off the side of a cliff." Gotta <3 Pearl Jam
@JeffreyOsb Yeah it was..Got some really great songs.....Compared to the last 3 albums it's like the white album..Last 3 efforts have been pretty crap...binaural is ok tho..but the 3 after that are pretty poor...Vs & Vitalogy are my favorites tho..
I think this song or rather this piece of art is what all modern rock is based on(although in my opinion never done as good as this), It is for lack of a better work.. Pefect, the melodies, vocals and raw passion. This will always be one of my most loved tracks of all time. It's a very moving track for me. Thank you pearl jam.
@PolaroidMemory I don't know, I never saw this as a huge standout Pearl Jam song. I like so many more of them so much better. To each his/her own though. It's still a quality song, don't get me wrong, but when we're talking about Pearl Jam, you know! ;)
