every couple of months i go and see this clip, and every time I see it in a different point of view. still, it always moves me and returns me to the state of watching life through pink sunglasses and enjoying life in it's beauty, either in our temporarily sadness or joy. i stop comparing and racing myself. all the important stuff in your life come unexpected
I am posting this every week on my Facebook to give my friends a little courage... Life is a Bitch when you do not have a guidance walking next to you whispering some advice in your ear from time to time
everything i hear i know its from companys and governments ect and it makes me have a negative effective reaction on alot of things but this is the purest song i ever heard, as it is the way it should be thats why its so touching
@reggaeambassadorful me too . I imagine wild geese flying over the countryside. Makes the experience of this song even more powerful and wonderful! I listen to that song since the late 90s! :)
this has been, 4 Years.., and will be 4 a long, long time, my FAVE link....and I've seen 1000's of links, since the horrible "AOL of 99".... this is the one ul remember......i hope...remember 'some' of this...and ur all good... and Merry Christmas America... XO ;-)
@kubilicious :- May God bless u with MANY MANY happy memories that will make you remember the moment that you felt weak and realize how much you could have missed out on!!! :-)
@kubilicious me too. if you ever feel like that again check out 30sleeps.com and read some articles. especially 'social skydiving'. Also Eckhart Tolles book The power of now is good. Remember you are already perfect, your mind just wont let you see it yet. Everyone has the same problem. glad you feel better
I'm 15 and my knees are already gone lol.I remember seeing this on a longboard video then a few years later in 8th grade health class and today a friend of mine on facebook quoted this song.I decided I'm going to try to do the best I can according to this song :)
This song just reminds me how we all go through the motions - make the same silly mistakes and worry about the same silly thing. I like the feeling of sameness with the rest of the world's people :)
i saw this when i was 14, im 17 now. i do not regret any of my past actions! not even the erros, for they have help me a lot! I do not want to give up the delicious freedom of being wrong! @MrSweatyPants incredible coment! got me!
@Xnicito Common sense to you NOW? You're only 17? Whole life ahead of you to live by these principles. It's depressing that you are looking back with regret at only 17. Never too late to change.
I find these words to be more applicable to life than any religious doctrine or new age philosophy. It's not claiming to be a ticket to heaven or some sacred wisdom. It's just the common sense one gains from living a reflective life.
Ladies and gentle of the class of 2012, wear condoms. If I could offer you only one tip for the future, condoms would be it. The long term benefits have been proven my scientist, whereas the rest of my advise has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience.
@ki4jgt I think when he says that, he's referring to when you compare yourself to others around you, but not everyone else in the world (otherwise, everyone would always be behind and ahead at the same time).
I heard this when I was 17. I didnt know any of this.I was a scared council estate teenager, I shaved my head with a razor, quit UK shool, there was no way out. I thought this advice was top notch. I had a ridiculous infatuation with a girl which I thought was 'the one', I still think she was. She had the most amazing green eyes. I will never forget. However , I am 27 now. did an access course, University and work in Hong Kong as a Radiographer. This advice all seems like common sense now. funny
@MrSweatyPants Every time I get into the frame of mind of being stuck on the estate all my life, this is the song I want to hear, stories like yours are the ones I want to hear. Thankyou dude
I think jpa has the definition of superficial confused with the definition of intellectual. Btw this song is clearly related to obama as it was a graduation speech from 1999 haha
This has to be one of my favourite songs ever. I realise people don't like it and think it may be superficial... but think on this. Take as much from it as you want (or don't want). The advice comes from one person's own meandering experience, which in and of itself is a way of fishing the past from a rubbish bin and dusting it off for the benefit of others. Life is what you make it, so seize your moment and make it a life worth living!
@jpa6791 maybe you have a valid point I think...but you may have found a less critical way of expressing your thoughts...I mean who the fuck are you to pass your lameass judgements onto others...if a piece of music moves a person to reflect on their life then "let it be"...hahahahahaha
i dislike it because superficial people have to be told to think like this. the video is dumb.
most people watching this think it is so super profound and it eases their minds because this makes it look like it's easy to just be good and do good things. it's a video for the obama change is all we need superficial positivity generation. and the white dude wearing the afro wig and pink suit is not cool. i mean what the fuck? live in new york city once?!?
who can afford to live in new york city except for hipster closet yuppies posing as artists and wall street
tycoons? the background music makes me nauseous. like i said this is a video for superficial minds wanting to feel good about themselves their guilty past and even more guilt laden future. show black people and white people with smiling faces. it's a farce.
For somebody so well written and assumably spoken, you really don't say much to prove your point. I say let the 6,936,918 views speak for themselves. It's sad that you couldn't at least see what it was about this video that people love. OH WELL YOUR LOSS!!!
'But trust me on the sunscreen'...amazing...start on the subject of sunscreen and end on it aswell. wonder full frame ending....This is without a doubt one of the best songs of all time, it is a shame that not man people know of it( i know it may have a lot of views on utube but come on..ask ur m8s/ family if they have heard of this song....This song has shaped who i am as a person and given me a view on life that is remarkable....i shall remember this song for ever and i will show this to all.
amazing video shown to me by a close friend of mine at 2AM!! Watched it a number of times since, fantastic, sad, happy, emotional, amazing!! Thanks so much for posting it! :)
this video is amazing... i watch this almost everyday to keep me down to earth, and i must say it works. i have changed in many ways, see things in a diferent way too.
My senior year English teacher, whom I had a huge crush on, played this song for my class a couple of weeks before we graduated. Now I'm less than 2 months away from graduating from college and I'm listening to it again, and boy is it making me emotional.
this is still by far the most inspirational thing ive heard in my life. im 16 years old, listen to this at least once a month and this speech has improved my life in so many ways, thank you
How can you dislike this video. This man speaks pure wisdom of advice. You cant get any better advice then right here of life. Some people are just sad induvidulas....
I love this... I listened to this song so many times as a teenager and thought it was amazing. I took it to heart. But here I am, thirty two years old, and so much has happened since then. It is just impossible to grasp things fully unless you have experienced them.
You will always take things for granted. You will never be able to ask your parents enough questions or get to know them as well as you want to. But you don't realize these things until something you took for granted gets taken away, until your parents are gone and cannot answer any more questions. Life is life. This is a beautiful 'song.' I love these words.
My dad played this song in the car when i was very young while we were on the way to school. I actually remembered the advices in the song. I think it sorta made me more matured.
why does my version say "class of '97", are there a few that say different years, coz the rest is the same

You will always take things for granted. You will never be able to ask your parents enough questions or get to know them as well as you want to. But you don't realize these things until something you took for granted gets taken away, until your parents are gone and cannot answer any more questions. Life is life. This is a beautiful 'song.' I love these words.

All you can do is try your best to have no regrets... but you will :-)

My dad played this song in the car when i was very young while we were on the way to school. I actually remembered the advices in the song. I think it sorta made me more matured.
