why the fuck are these creatures being killed like that? Is there a purpose? FFS stop doing that to animals, it's not fun. Some people are so messed. I'm disgusted.
It's illegal to kill a seal cub in Canada since 1971! But for an unknown reason everybody still show seal cub photo and say that we are barbaric, when million of cows, pigs and chicken are kept and slaughter in inhuman condition.
But it's more easy to bash on something that dosen't have anything to do with changing our way of living no?!
its not fair, if i where there, i would grab the club out of the guys hands and hit him 20 times and put him on someones stupid jacket! i think we should stop this damn hun!!! who agrees?
Science has proven that animals have a sharper nervesystem than humans and their senses like sight and smell are often also so stronger so they experience abuse as intense as we do. Even fish feel pain and can have stress. Just google it.
If you really love all animals there´s only 1 option: become vegetarian or vegan and speak up for them. We don´t need meat, fur or testing labs, there are enough alternatives. Animals are living, feeling beings with each an unique character.
But If you really think it's necessary to prove that harp seals aren't endangered and the canadian seal hunt should go on, AND you think we should'nt do anything about it, fine.
We are just trying to stop the brutal way that these seals are killed in Canada.
u rule and there puting them on the indangerd list u rule i love u haha but seriously no animales should die like that or even die ITS CALLED FAKE FUR PEAPLE DUHHHHH........!!!!!!!!!!=(
Yep. My main point is people who oppose the seal hunt are just following a worthless trend started by an out-dated musician trying to get attention. The seal hunt is not any more cruel than any other meat related industry like beef or chicken. They are just cute so people care more. Also don't let that fool you, they aren't intelligent creatures. They don't feel the emotions whales and dolphins do. They are just another organism swimming around. I hope that tied up a few ends for you.
You may be right but the seals are on the brink of extinction. This can seriously harm the eco system and food chain. One species relies on another. And mind you, the hunters aren't breeding these animals like they do with cows and chickens. Once they're gone, they're gone. And ALL animals can feel pain, smart or dumb.
The current IUCN conservation status of the harp seal is LC ("Least Concern") so you should be wary of the people that told you they were "on the brink of extinction".
In 2007 the Northwest Atlantic population was estimated at 5.5 million while in 2005 the Greenland Sea held an estimated 742,000 and the Barents Sea/White Sea held an estimated 2.4 million.
Just because it says least concern doesn't mean you shouldn't help them and leave them to continue being killed until they are, truly on the brink of extinction
The IUCN would have given them a conservation status of "Near Threatened" if there was even a slightest chance of them being threatened by human activity, including hunts or pollution. And there is no lower conservation status than LC.
You know what else is listed as LC - Raccoons, skunks, black capped chickadees, eastern gray squirrels, common ravens, the American cockroach... Everything that's common and abundant is LC.
@gurujocy The problem with the seal "hunt" is not that seals are killed...its the way they are killed and skined...sometimes alive!! That is the real problem. Because indeed the seal population is far from being "on the brink of extention" ...they are doing well!
@gurujocy and whales aren't? what about sharks? river dolphins? these three are NECESSARY to the eco system they are part of.. Seals, reproduce alot faster than any of these and they have more numbers. They're also alot smaller so reproduction can start early. Honestly seals are UI life forms that feed. I say they can be killed in any way humane and instantaneousness. We don't even give that right to cows, chickens, ect.
1. No they aren't on the brink of extinction, I personally know members of DFO, there is a group of scientists constantly watching the seals, and they are not going extinct. Also, not to be contredictory, but no not all animal feel pain. If you boil a lobster in water it doesn't feel pain..as an example. My point about seals is that if society thinks chickens are mindless enough to slaughter, seals should be too.
@gurujocy OH MY GOD are you serious????? This comment proves that Seal Protestors are idiots,....quote "You may be right but the seals are on the brink of extinction" you have no clue about the population of the seals, in fact the seals are thriving, and increasing in numbers, and harming any chance of the Atlantic Cod stocks from fully recoving because they eat so much fish. DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE YOU SPIT OUT GARBAGE
.22 rifle to the back of the head. its more humane, I'm all for a humane death if they're going to be hunted anyways.
