I'm surprised lil fandubs from AC is out, though I think the accents scare people off
That being said, I found nothing bad about this scene, I think you guys did fantasticaly and the accents come across strongly but not too over-worked it seems forced, well done
@TamaRanEd Thank you very much! The accents are definitely a bit scary at first, but this is one of my favorite franchises so I wanted to attempt it at least once, haha!
This is great Dillon. I really like your Leo! The character is a really good fit for you. And that is so brilliant muting the voices... I actually thought of that awhile back for video game dubs but my capture card sucks! Anyway, these accents are hard but its a good challenge. I have a lot of respect for the people that do the italian accents in this game now having done them myself.
@LoststeamVAA Thanks, couldn't have done it without you! I know exactly what you mean, I too have a huge respect for the voice actors in this series after attempting it myself.
Overall mixing wasn't bad. The voices matched the lip-flaps, etc.
Leonardo: Forgive me, but Leonardo's voice sounded a bit too "American". Accents and stereotypes abound, I was hoping to hear some sliver of the "Italian accent" that is portrayed in the game, but this dub didn't give any.
Ezio: [I have a soft spot for Ezio :3] BUT Ezio's voice cracked. Alot. I was disappointed. I liked the youthful tone Ezio had and all, but sometimes the voice definitely sounded overstrained.
What you are describing is just vocal texture... not straining. That was my state of voice at the time.. it can get rough like that, and I thought it fit well enough. I admit my "what are you doing" line was a little rough. I had cleaner takes but the accent didn't sound right. I'll keep the smoother tone in mind if I happen to voice Ezio again.... but that definitely wasn't strain. =)
Also, the italian accents are really hard to do. Whether it's the kind in the game or not, it's hard.
@Tealia Thanks for the feedback! This was a first attempt at an Italian accent for both of us. There's always room to grow and improve and constructive criticism is definitely appreciated. I do understand where you are coming from, because I consciously tried to make Leonardo's voice softer than it was in the game and being American myself, it's hard to tell when you are going overboard with a foreign accent.
Now THIS is something you don't see very often, an Assassin's Creed fandub! And a remarkable one at that! All the music and sfx were perfect (I assume you got gameplay footage with muted voices), and the voices were spot on! Well done! Very well done!
@LordCrehavos9000 Thank you! I did indeed record the footage with the voices muted. I wish everything were that easy when it comes to fandubbing, haha.
How ''Ezio'' said Leonardo. ''Leonardoa!'' xD
