I don't think it's racist to let Li H'sen Chang be played by a white man. It's probably more racist to think that he shouldn't, simply because the character and the actor are of different races.

I love the way the Doctror defies him by putting th edeck of cards in front of his face. I was just so scared the first time. I knew he would be safe in the end but it was very effective

I have this story in my Doctor Who DVD collection, and I think its a classic story and love the Jack the Ripper feel but after watching it again recently I must say I am a lil disapointed in its racist feel to the Chinese,I know it was the 70's but still, there is even a scene where the Doctor makes a racist comment about the Chinese and I dont think his charecter would do that, but still great story, loved it, this is a good clip too.

Okay, yes, it could be considered racist. But really, is that the point of the episode? Its just trying to tell a story :)

And sure, Chang should've been played by a Chinese guy, but it wasn't HORRIFICLY racist...

No i never said it was 'HORRIFICLY racist' I didnt even make a big deal about it, I love this story, all I said that in my opinion I find it to be a little raciest. Its not just me saying it either, I got a special 25 aniversary Doctor Who magazine from 1988 and even in that it said the Talons of Weng Chiang is classic WHO but has some unfortunate racist themes. Which is entirley my point.
