  • Hmmm. This doesn't seem to work in the Collection version.

  • I know, I'm far from this fight, but I was wondering. Am I allowed to skip Stage 1 or do I have to play through it all? Thanks in advance.

  • Something about skipping Stage 1 strikes me as a-okay. It's just Stage 3 (purely) so it clears you of access repetition. You're free to use it. It's one of the few odd cases of an exploit that just feels fine though it shouldn't.

  • CLOCKWISE. That's why the big ole bastard kept tagging me.

Instinct had me rolling anti-clockwise. Should be easy enough to overcome.

  • ...Yes..that small difference tends to make all the difference.

I'd started offf going the otherway (instinct) and it wasn't working out like I wanted so I tried the other way around..

  • yep thanks

  • well i was doing the move where does two stabs and the he and the he flies forward and slams his blades on the ground

  • Plume of Prometheus.

  • well i was ignorantly standing next to the edge in the beginning but moved later in the fight but when i do the square square triangle move on the triangle part the minotaur moved and i flew into the lava

  • Were you using "Plume Whoring" then?

The area by the cracked wall doesn't have a ground level invisible wall to stop you from just walking over the side. Of course you can just leap over said wall on all other sides.

I used to misjudge (with TM in the way) a flight with Icarus Wings..landing right in the lava. Humiliating.

  • this also helped on my titan run every time i faced this minotaur without ur help he kept knocking me into the the lava

  • Is that to say you used the Stage 1 AI trick, used R1 to drop in Stage 2 and/or adapted the SoD strat to your own approach with the Blades or Barbarian Hammer?

What were you doing to get knocked into the lava before?

  • Clockwise eh? I'm keeping that in mind. First two stages I can master, but the pounding in the third messes me up.

  • That's the one I spent a good while trying to perfect handling of. It took a while to note that clockwise worked far better then counter-clockwise here. Before I had to time it perfectly over and over and I'd fuck up because of it. The other way gives a little leway.

  • Well, the video is up if you haven't notice. Check it out when you have time.

  • I already have.

  • He only took so long in Stage 3 because he still has his health from stage 1. ;)

And also I love looking around at all the flesh/bone/blood inside Atlas' back/shoulder for some reason...

  • He has just 365HP in Stage 3. IF he had 730HP, which can happen if you glitch Stage 2 like I noted, it would have taken FAR longer.

So the skip of Stage 1, doesn't save it all for later unless you try to screw with the AI during Stage 2 itself. Doing as I did cuts the grinding of Stage1/3 in half basically.

I've long since done damage value testing and lvl1 PS does 10 damage per hit. It doesn't register in combos except when firing at the Kraken tentacles. The results are accurate.

  • Been watching some of mistrymans speedrun. That guy is an animal. Oh for an upgraded head right now.

  • Shen and MistryMan did very well. The latter will be picking up his latest run very soon.

~Don't you just wish you had lvl3 EH *kekeke*

  • Clockwise. So THATS how you do it. What's so bad about the atlas lift then?

Bit of EH at the legionnaires then PS or let the Harpies smash 'em, Launch to OH the remaining harpies, CR to hold 'em still, not that you need to. I say waste half your magic on this fight If you like, free refill coming soon.

  • One COULD handle the Atlas Lift without RotT or magic in even these conditions but that would take superb tactics/skill. I offer a way that exploits the linear path of the game.

I saved my magic and did NOT waste RotT *which I'll want to have at full later*. As you know, at the AQ trial you will receive a full refill to Magic. The strat I used for the Atlas Lift abused alt.OH, PS, collisions

and MOSTLY Atlas Quake (for crowd control). A touch of EH at the start.

  • The big issue is that the efficiency of your AQ usage can vary from needing none (you are likely to use at least 1/8th) to ALL *200MP*. Depending on your skill and familiarity with the tactics..with a touch of luck when you aren't of a high skill level.

CR isn't effective enough for crowd control at lvl1 in THAT fight. AQ is the superior choice PERIOD. Refer to the vid and see what I mean..total control. AQ is also pure invincibilty frames with knockbacks that ground everyone for launches

  • I could suggest using NO MORE then 1/2 your MP against TM3 stage 3.

There is no real excuse when even lvl1 SoD doesn't take long to handle the job..lvl1 BoO handles it even FASTER..BH is a foolish choice as you'll need RotT to deliver similiar results

~If keeping up the act (Stage 3 handling) for 2 minutes is too much...you could fire off 25 Bow Shots for 125 of the needed 365 damage (240 left = 24PS at least; expect 27). That would take about 80 seconds instead I'd guess.

  • I agree there is no need for magic in this fight. Speedrunners won't bother with this fight any more so wanting to hasten his demise is no excuse. I avoided the need for crowd control on the lift by trying to not let a (dangerous) crowd develop.

  • Still, AQ is to not only crowd control, but rather to set-up for easy usage of launch to OH AND have the Captains unable to block/evade the hit..that's the part I care about most.

  • Glad you understood that. Comments were appearing in the wrong place. Probably operator error. Just uploaded my atlas-lift fight, it should be available soon. Right now I am putting off attempting the translator fight. I know it is going to get annoying.

  • I'll check it out when done going through email.

    ~That it will be

  • AQ would be handy If I had it. Forget what I said about using magic on this fight save it for the lift. I remembered it as being really easy, recently breezed past it on the TM NUR, so I thought I would make a vid to prove it it

  • was at this point I realised that I must have totally fluked it through last time, y'know one of those rare occasions where everything goes better than right first time. It was a good half hour of restart whoring before I got a performance worthy of committing to vid. Sorry about the repetition my replies keep appearing as new comments

  • That happens.

~I'll see it soon I trust

  • On NP you don't have access to AQ (painfully obvious in your case) which is sad because it fucking rocks (rare) in that fight.

  • Any new progress on the GK:TM:NUR?

  • Not for me but Eternal has just reached Atlas. I've been away for far too long. I'll have to continue to delay GoW1 work..ending that for now with the little (noteworthy still) skip I ran into in the latest run (at SDA). I figure it I should begin practicing/recording once more. No more distractions..thus I haven't done any updating at TUGOWU either. *lots to do on that front <_<*

  • What is this skip you speak of? As you may have seen, I just started a new GoW1 speedrun and It's testing my patience.

  • Challenge of Poseidon/Uphill battle involving Cage pushing w/ Sacrifice:

--Using the 'Artemis Lifts' between PR uses--

Just in front of/below the cage we later push up hill, I 'Lift' until atop it (about 3-4PRs worth of lifts).

  • Then I walk at the wall to have it slide over while landing on an invisible platform. I grab the cage (side) and pull it a little closer to the edge before getting behind for a push/kick.

This way I don't have to go get the lever, return to use it and watch a cutscene. Still have to battle the Legionnaire Captains though

  • Good to know. I'll try to work that into my speedrun.

  • Maybe you could help me on my speedrun? I'm replaying the temple/ harpy section and I figured out that I can do it the faster without touching the statues but I'm considering sticking around for the EXP. With regen. magic do you think its worth the extra time to lvl up PR from 2 to 3? I made sure I could lvl up PR before the Medusa battle but I haven't stopped to open anything since then. If I don't lvl it up now it could be a while...

  • I went ahead and skipped it without moving the statues or racking up the EXP. It only took me like 30 seconds to pass that part so I hope that makes up any time difference that I would have saved by having lvl 3 PR.

  • Considerations like that aren't my strong suit. I too skip that section without using the statues now. I'd say "Ask satvara" but his fancy with GoW1 appears to have passed. Perhaps you can consult AKheon.

  • After skipping it playing through with lvl 2 PR, I don't think stopping for anything is worth it. I wanted lvl 2 PR for Medusa but beyond that I doubt the time saved w/ lvl 3 PR would be greater than the time wasted racking up the necessary EXP.

  • My next time through I will do some more testing to see what the fastest methods are up to the Medusa skip. Which saves more time, knocking all the cyclops' off the cliff immediately and killing Medusa w/ lvl 1 weapons or minigaming them all and killing Medusa w/ lvl 2 PR? These kinds of questions are things I've never really considered until now and need to test.

  • To be honest..due to how satvara acts..I find the guy a bit shady.

I admire his work but his feelings toward GoW seem like a passing fancy.

More annoying is that he never discussing what his influences are or how he happened upon the exploits he knew before joining TUGOWU.

  • This is just the paranoid side of my head talking..but I can't help but hear it saying he took down his run at GT so others couldn't use it for reference. Absurd I know.

~If we had that vid and all the work done after the fact here on YouTube compiled..you would have all you need to map out a great new run

  • The only thing I don't really like is this "unacceptable" talk with regards to new speedruns. If he's going to say things like this then I feel he should just do another run on God Mode with all of the new exploits instead of telling the rest of us our runs wouldn't be good enough.

    ~How true.

  • Ballofsnow's run helps a lot for the not exploiting sections but beyond the hydra it starts to become little help as the regenerating magic destroys all previous tactics needed. BTW, your hydra vid should help me considerably in the future.

  • -I've wondered this myself. I've asked questions of him before just to get no response...ever.

    -He has expressed this basically.

-His willingness to talk seems limited to only a few topics. One can only wonder. Since I wasn't around then I still am not clear on who originally found what though.

  • Ah 6am, well yeah that makes more sense that getting up early.

I'll check out the videos while you sleep. Lol.

  • Very nice

    ~Enjoy

  • I'll check your favourites soon. You're up early aren't you? Must only just be 7am over there. Or have I got my time zones wrong again?

  • Actually..I am up LATE in that it is 6am and I've yet to go to sleep. Though I will within a half hour.

~Check out those favorites and behold rediculous exploiting power

  • Fighting seems more fun than just completely skipping it though. So, what are some of the new exploits this time around?

  • Observe my favorites for examples of the two trick types I've found in GoWII (High/Long Jump and Regenerating Magic return)

~At TUGOWU *in the NUR Thread* I list quite a few new finds

  • Lol, even if he did, I'd still have this PS2 problem, I'd save for a PS3 in year or 2, but even then, they're phasing out backwards compatability, so I wouldn't be able to play it.

  • Pity. The newest batch of tricks make for quite the good time. I don't think Evan even knows that regenerating magic has returned in GoWII..as well as High Jumps...it all went down yesterday. Good exploiting tools. Now I can just skip the ENTIRE fight I showed above rather then just Stage 1..though this was about showing the fighting way to do it..

  • 1. Why are you so good at this game?

    2. Why don't I have it?

  • 1. Evan didn't tell you?

    2. Evan didn't give you his?

    LOLOLOL

  • Just got past this part in my GK:TM:NUR and thanks a LOT both for the exploit and for the advice to roll clockwise. The glitch is easily replicable for sure.

    Onward to Atlas Lift.

  • Where are you now? My memory is foggy on your run. I have a nice, easy method for that part that I intend to record soon *before I had a half-assed way*. Still have work to do with the Translator though..

  • I'm still at the Endurance Run, though I haven't been trying (i've been distracted again by GH3). Hopefully I can buckle down and focus on finishing the run off tomorrow.

BTW, what sub-weapon would you suggest for Zeus? Since you can basically pick, I was wondering what would be the easiest/most powerful option to get that over with. I'd particularly appreciate anything to speed up when you have to fight with the Blades.

  • Right, right, right.

I prefer to use SoD of course but for this run type you can have no better companion for dealing 'large damage' then the BoO itself. I haven't maden any vids with it but have done work with it in the past. It is the hax way to go due to DR being so easy to tie up Zeus with *stun after stun*. Like any Bonus Play fight..the sub-weapon you choose can be used throughout. Since your run isn't all about the SoD, I can offer other sub-weapon tips for various fights.

  • Hey, wanted to let you know I've found a new way to get regenerating magic that's a lot safer and I think it will be faster too. I've done it a few times and I don't think there's any risk with it either. I'm still playing with it and I'll try to make another vid to show how. Its just another way to exit that room withou going through that dreaded wall.

  • O RLY? I await further news with great interest.

  • Here's the news: I can exit the room without dying every time. There is zero risk of accidental death. If done correctly it is faster than the known way of doing it but I may not be able to capture it for a couple of days. Hopefully I will be able to tonight or tomorrow.

  • I eagerly await this new method you speak of.

  • Excellent, I can't wait to see this.

  • me too.

  • I think we can all agree to this sentiment

  • It's done. Thanks guys.

  • AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!! How could it be possible when i first watch it! LOL. You are the man, bigvee! I wish i notice this video earlier way when i started my TM: NUR+! saved me some time. ^_^

  • Is that to say you've gotten the chance to try it?

    ~Thanks

  • nope. i cleared this stage in NUR+ quite some time. should have watch your video way before! lol. now stucked in translator. T_T wish to see your videos on NUR+ translator! ^_^

  • I won't have a TM:NUR+ vid up for a LONG time. You would do well to check one of Shinobier's TM:NUR+ vids for that section. The Translator is among the things coming up in my GK:TM:NUR SoD series vids.

  • It seems likely that you'll have to use a "Natural Spawns" killing strategy before dealing with the Priests. I'll likely experiment with using AQ/CR for a NUR+ RotT Hammer "Priest First" strat. It isn't usually a good idea to pursue the priests with none leveled weapons/spells. *particularly spells* In the GK:TM:NUR you at least have monstrous collisions *double edged sword*

  • great exploit, sorry I didn't see your vid but I finaly saw it. lol. I ahd no clue about this and you explained it perfectly.

  • I don't think very many people would have run into this..I just noticed the oddity of an early double fist pound and tried to retrace what I had done *wasn't remotely refined and understood as you see in this presentation*

Luckily I eventually was able to figure out exactly what I did and what it meant precisely. It doesn't always end that way.. sometimes I have to leave it be..other times I can figure it out upon a revisiting.

  • weird how GOW works like that, so Barlog and Jaffe are gone, weired.

  • Indeed.

~It is irritating that Barlog too has left the project..

  • I know, but both of them, at almost the same time, weird. So who's running GOWIII now?

  • Unknown as it stands. This is a bullshit situation.

  • maybe it should be you. lol.

  • That job would demand a lot. Not just work but travel and PR. I'd also have to take part in creating the ending to a trilogy I've been thus far just following along with despite it being mostly written out already between Barlog and Jaffe. I have no qualification for the job other then an intense liking of the game/series

  • I meant you should be in charge of different ways for Kratos to kill that boat captain again. ^_^ lol.

  • LAWL

  • Nice to see the exploit in video form. Your instructions are always clear too, can't wait to try this out. PS is ridiculously awesome. This series of SoD updates is continuing for the entire run?

  • That it is.

Really? I always worry about them being too vague.

That it is. I doubt anything of Stage 1 skipping's level will turn up again but it certainly would be welcomed with open arms.

~Eternal is currently just after the 4 Wraiths of Asphodel in his GK:TM:NUR.

  • Looks like a promising exploit. I really wasn't looking forward to this fight on my GK:TM:NUR, but at least now it'll be a good bit shorter.

Also, PS whoring is more effective here than the Hammer? Interesting.

  • That it is. Enjoy.

~Believe it..just not faster the RotT Hammer..we try to conserve that sort of shit though

  • At last, MOAR vids from GodModeGOD!

  • At last indeed

  • u never sieze to amaze...

  • You KNOW you love it.

  • or cease

  • but ofcourse, pardon me

  • LAWL

  • Excellent work as usual. Nice use of what i would call a "Rock Monster" sound track. (We all know the hammer would be quicker.) Surprised that spear of yours hasn't run out of PS yet.

  • Now you are tripping. In this fight the Hammer is absurdly weak.

    w/o trick SoD Stage 1 - 1 min 30 sec

    w/o trick Hammer Stage 1 - 2 min 30 sec

    w/ trick - 20 sec

Full fight w/ trick and SoD - 2 min 55 sec

Full figth w/ trick and Hammer - 4 min 20 sec

^Though I get the joke..this is where the truth lies. That Spear has infinite PS and no love for anyone caught in its path

  • The only way I'd be able to use the Hammer for faster results lies with RotT usage which is auto lvl2 on Bonus Play runs. So the approx 7 damage would rise to 21. Luckily I have no further use for RotT for awhile

  • I wouldn't dream of questioning your maths/timekeeping I just figured during the pounds that would be an opening for massive hammer damage with RotT and bow cancelling to hasten the process

  • With RotT Hammer I would just get to his flank and use 2x Triangle (3-4 hit before strafing clockwise). With his "Spin" I'd likely deactivate RotT so I don't take such serious damage *also keeping clear*

  • By the Atlas Lift are you referring to the elevator?

After a GK:TM:NUR I wonder what lies ahead for you. Perhaps a Bonus speedrun on easy with God Armor and all urns and try to complete it in less than 5 hours. Call it a GA:EM:MUSR - now that would be a real demonstration of skill.

  • That I am.

Just 5 hours? You should see shenminiu and MistryMan at work. Shen finished Titan in 3 hours and 41 minutes in Normal Play.

~I don't do speedruns anyway..they just rack my nerves anyway..as for what lies ahead.. don't know just yet..there is a lot to consider *especially outside of gaming*

  • I figured. That part would be tough w/o magic.

I was just making light of the guy with the GoW1 2:33 on easy with Dairy Bastard. I knew 5 hours would be nothing special.

Speaking of outside of gaming - I got a new job a month ago and other things lately have prevented me from getting my usual God of War time in. Its unfortunate.

  • It can be done using collisions but Hades Legionnaire block fairly well and can put quite a bit of pressure on you when so closely put together with Hades Harpies.

That guy is retarded if he thinks that is a good time for those settings. The best without sequence breaks was 2:16 on God Mode. With sequence breaks and regenerating magic on Normal..1:21

    ~Unfortunate indeed

  • Great job explaining this. I honestly don't know how you figure this stuff out sometimes!

  • I've explained it before in a PM...at least the process that got me to the point I am at now. I can foward that part if you want.

  • It's totally upon my imagination, amazing......Though it doesn't help much in a nomal run, it helps a lot in the GK:NUR run, great work!

  • Not by much..it can still be done with any weapon but with the ability to use the leveled Hammer it would save at most a couple of seconds.

    ~In a GK:TM:NUR it is a very large difference
