Stevie, I enjoyed this performance, YOU are truly amazing! Your music still remains as clear as you wrote it back in the day. Great entertainment! I Thank God for you as well. YOU are one of the GREATS!!!!
This performance by Stevie Wonder was 1 of his very best performances on live tv, & I say this knowing Stevie have a lot of great performances that was seen on tv. Unfortunately the World slept on this performance because of Michael Jackson's Billie Jean,& MJ definately deserved the hype, but Stevie should've been reconized as well. r.i.p. MJ & RJ Long live Steveland Morris aka STEVIE WONDER
A true performer who sounds even better live than on record: wonderful! I much prefer this segment of the Motown 25th Anniversary Special to Michael's slick 'Billy Jean" choreographed mime to playback.
Seriously, you might be right...but all of the memorable things that happened, from Stevie's performance, to Diana Ross having ANOTHER hissy fit with Mary Wilson, to MARVIN GAYE'S LAST LIVE PERFORMANCE (so often forgotten)...they ALL get forgotten when people remember that Michael broke out the Moonwalk on Billie Jean for the first time.
Diana Ross was told to introduce Berry Gordy and invite him onstage after they sang their last song. Mary Wilson didn't know this, so SHE did it...and Diana screamed at her, "it's been taken care of".
Ultimately, it was edited out of the TV special, but it was reported everywhere.
@cbaldwinjr That was not Marvin Gaye's last performance on tv,he also sung Sexual Healing at the Grammy's with Stevie Wonder & Michael Jackson & Lionel Richie all in the front row groovin & cheering him on. Maybe you meant his last performance for & with Motown.
All in one show: Stevie Wonder,Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson (first Billie Jean/first Moonwalk), Jackson Five Reunion, Temps - Tops Battle of the Groups, Mary Wells, Diana Ross...help me if I missed some others...
@Lennon4life1968 YOU forgot about El DeBarge & his sister & brothers, they were the last group that Motown would shell out with a lot of fanfare & a promise of what coming from that very talented, very underrated, & yes troubled family.
