Very good video! I am shocked how many of my friends try doing a variantion of this to me, and end up hack the heck out of my knees, haha if they only knew.
@alteye1 The foot sweep isnt necessary... but it shows an excellent example of how to set up one throw with another. You try the sweep, it fails, boom osoto garuma. Or just picture the guy stepping, and you off balance him right as his feet are closing together (if the guy doesnt use proper judo walking). I give it two thumbs up, nice technique.
Nice demonstration of technique for this and all the throws done elsewhere. The tori positioning the uke leg is a formality. In combat one would not make the movement. The legs may be already placed closer together or the double reap can result from an Osotogari where the leg overextends to include both legs of the uke.
There is nothing wrong with the kuzushi seishin. I find it easier to do osoto guruma (my tokui waza) by shifting my opponents wight diagonally back and up. Here it's only to the back, diagonally, as it would be in osoto gari. So if you are already set up for osoto gari, why go for osoto guruma? Then again, that's just my opinion. Hope to see your point of view.
ahh i can see wwere you are coming from i guess the kuzushi is set for more osoto than o guruma cos your normaly using your leg to finish the lift rather than getting there weight on the leg you sweep. o guruma is a good thorow when pulled off proply but i think my tokui waza is ippon seoi inspired by koga :P do you do kodakan judo?
ah Yes, this old sankyu is impressed, O soto garuma is a personal favorite....

Why do u people hate on these videos....If u were any form of a judoka you would see this as a good demonstration.
Theirs a reason Karate guys can't do Judo....they just aren't tough enough.

i disagree with the sweeping the foot over, just wait until they sidestep in
linkman11 3 years ago 2
@linkman11 It's just an exaggerated way of showing a possible combo set-up.

Nice sweep with the foot. All in all a nicely executed technique, although i don't really agree with the kuzushi. But if it works for you... :D
