  • Nobody comps the blues like Pat Martino.

  • Why on earth dislike a video like this??

  • Pure genius that Mr. Martino aka The Master !!!

  • Cool unisono. :D

  • Awesome 2:36 to 2:40 Terrific driving and resolution.

  • holy shit! i love this martini dude! he's just over the top! and by the way: he is such a wise man!!!!

  • Judul lagunya apa ya?

  • Cool change at 3:38, only Martino can do that with deep blues feeling. Each time I see this video, I realize Pat Martino's playing is better.

  • what's the name of this song...?

  • @lionPGF Goin' to a Meeting - it's on one of Tony Monaco's records.

  • I play this over and over and ovah....love it

  • This guitar player has Buda rubber fingers WOW and good drive in the jar by Mason

  • Per request, here's the chart... more or less the way I play it on guitar

    dancoy.com/Going_to_Meeting.pdf

BTW I discovered my good friend, Jerry Byrd, played guitar on the original version of this song by Don Patterson.

  • Harvey is laying the groove like hot grits and biscuits on a sun

    day morn. Hell yeah!!

  • Harvey is laying the groove like hot grits and biscuits on a sunday morn. Hell yeah!!

  • groove groove groove for days.........

  • no other guitar player rund 16s so tasteful like him

  • Mason can be soooo. deep in the pocket he is surrounded by lint !!

  • Mason lays it down

  • Great to see & hear Pat, Great!

  • So nicely done.

  • 3:39 ultra cool.

  • Where could I find the chord charts for this, anyone know?

  • @ithegyspsi It's just a standard 12-bar.

  • where have you take this concert?

  • i dont get it. when he plays those signature fast lines, are they triplets, eighth notes or sixteenth?

  • @larry3393 There are some triplets, but the fastest ones are sixteenth notes...

  • Nice job, Guys! Tony does a great job. The Hammond XK3 rig should shut up all the people that put down the "clonewheel" organs.

  • What cooldude1950 said. They sound awesome.

  • This is The Blues for me. Supreme masters of the funky shuffle. As good as A Blues for Mickey-O, maybe better.

  • I totally agree with you you Cooldude! i really love the feel.

  • Met Monaco briefly at this years Java Jazz Festival, humble, humble guy, who had his right leg in a cast and yet still played his balls off.

  • drummer could have followed pats leads a little better....but of course this is still way sick. I like how pat does that same lick in sunny too at 3:00. Why not use the same awesomeness in more than once a song i say! :-)

  • Harvey Mason is so deep in the pocket, he's got lint on him!

  • Just because Pat doesn't make facial expressions to wow his audience doesn't mean that he's not playing his ass off! Pat definitely voyages a bit further into the nether world of upper structure harmony. The melodies he makes in this area are dulcet to some but most folks can't 'hear' what he's playing. But I guarantee you this: he hear's every note! Great f'in trio - Harvey Mason is a shuffle groove machine, Tony Monaco grooves his ass off and solos great, and Pat is an original true monster!

  • what is the name of this tune?

  • @diverdance yes what it is?

  • Monaco has emotion in his solos.. but Pat. I dont just get what makes chromatic-scale shredding so awsome. In my opinion the guitar solo sounds like crap. Maybe i just like melodic guitar solos more.

  • @EtYR3Akz are you joking??? grow some ears

  • @EtYR3Akz .Pat Marino is one of the greatest jazz guitarists ever. Put some videos of you playing,so we can see how good you are ;-)

  • @clifflisette Maybe im just not used to this type of soloing. My favourites are Steve Hacketts solo from the Genesis song Firth of Fifth and Robert Fripps solo from the King Crimson Song 21th Century Schizoid Man =)

  • @EtYR3Akz i like that too man, but don't put crap on things you barely know ... the solo is real deal

  • @EtYR3Akz

    Joyous Lake

  • I just saw Pat and Tony with a young drummer at Yoshi's in San Francisco about a month ago. Great show, i agree that Pat and Tony work well together. I saw him with Joey a number of years ago, and that was good as well. One of the best parts this time around was watching Tony's facial expressions while he plays. That is a guy who loves what he does. That made it much more enjoyable for all of us who saw them that night.

  • This grooves so hard. Thanks for adding Peter. Great job keeping jazz alive in our neck of the woods. Cheers, Jeremy Monteiro

  • very nice ! です.

  • Harvey Mason!!!!! One hell of a shuffle.

  • I saw Pat in '05, his playing was better than ever. I love this groove here.....

  • What a beautiful sound!! His jazz licks are so cool!! relax from the moment... who knows what's his guitar brand...

  • @jazz007ize

That's a custom prototype Benedetto made for him. Pat has since gone on to another protype, a bit thinner in the body...also by Bennedetto.

  • Love the little lick at 2:58

  • snap your fingers to that funky jazz beat. 1 + 3! Hooray for fun!

  • @franklinpeach it isn't funk its a shuffle

  • @CliftonSantiago7 shuffle your feet to that rockin hip-hop swing. 6/8 boogie!

  • @franklinpeach Troll elsewhere

  • @CliftonSantiago7 aw shucks, i was just having a little fun. But seriously, let's talk for a minute about playing an a-flat minor seven over an A7(b9) chord. What would be the best way to resolve that? What would Pat say?

  • yeeeahhhhh!!!!

  • I love Martino's chord work - it's awesome!

  • @s1914 Totally agree. Totalmente de acuerdo. No words to say the way he used those blues killing blues chords making the frame for tony's perfomance. You got good taste.

  • Awesome!

    what song is this?

  • Goin to a Meetin' - From Monaco's Fiery Blues CD

  • thanks

  • Wow, they really hit the groove!!!

  • wooooohhhhhhh!!!!! everytime i hear tony monaco..... jesus he iz truly one of the best ever!!!!!!!! god bless

  • Pat, you got the grace of GOD, blessings x you.

  • Excellence in jazz guitar playing.

  • Just total mastery and control

  • man that tone is killin

  • What guitar is he playing?

  • Gibson Pat Martino signature model

  • 1:26...naaiiiceee

  • the best right hand jazz guitar, great picking

  • The best!

  • Does anyone know the name of this song?

  • Goin To A Meetin (Don Patterson)

  • You guys were meant to play together! I wish you both the best!

  • yeahhhhhhhhh !!!

  • Excellent post!

  • how is the name of this song?

  • Martino, the best guitarist since Django and the best in my lifetime. A true artist never appreciated in his hometown.

As Monk said, " the great suffered more than the mediocre."

  • hey come on! what bout wes?

  • Wes is great, but I did not have a chance to see him.

Pat use to jam with Wes, they are good freinds.

  • This is the best playing pat has done in years, which is saying a lot. You guys are dead wrong about Joey would have made it a better set. Pat is obviously relaxed w/ Tony and it's not a super star cluster fuck pissing contest. They sound like a working group!

  • I agree. Sometimes, JD gets too frenetic and carried away and it becomes superfluous flailing... virtuosity for virtuosity's sake. On his 15th birthday TM got a phone call from JOS, with a comment on a cassette tape sent by TM. JOS said, "don't play so many notes".

  • Totally disagree, Defrancesco is the shizzle.

  • tony is just as goood!!!!!! no difference

  • I also add that JD might bring out a more dark mood in PM. JD has much richer chord substitutions that PM works very well with. Check out PM's many short clips on solo substitutions over specific chords.

  • Pat Martino is not PM. PM is Pat Metheny. No one ever refers to Martino as PM.

  • In context, PM is Pat Martino, you dumb ass. So STFU already.

  • In context your a fuckhead. BOOM! OWNED BITCH

  • lol

  • it's "you're" not "your"

  • That is not a fretless guitar

  • Pat reminds me so much of Oscar Peterson-just effortless, flowing, and stretching the changes to the breaking point.

  • The mase is the man!

  • good "" more up! up! up!

  • my mate will be here in 5 minutes and we're going to see these guys live! Can't wait, it's gonna be awesome!

  • except for Harvey, Louis Tsamous is on drums :)

  • IMHO - No disrespect to Joey D, but I've heard both these cats live, and I have to say I like Tony over Joey.

  • i agree!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Joey Defrancesco, Pat and Dave Weckl. Fuck that'd be good.

  • wats the difference

  • ah yh, never seen pat martino play this good in years.

  • Tony Monaco is simply the best!

  • By the way, the XK system sounds Awesome!

  • gotta love the soul of Tony Monaco. I'm glad he scored this gig.

  • yep

  • Pat's swinging on this one!

  • great!

  • wow amazing
