@SR5RunnerV6 They just need a sport version with a SC 5.7l v8. Thats will teach them stupid Chrysler chearleaders saying that the jeep GC is better. (shitrt/8 modles) I love my 88 v6 4runner though!! Also, have the 4.6 avaliable in Trail grade.

@2042nicky whoever gave me a thumbs down and thinks these cars look good need to get a sense of style... Have a look at the 80's series, they were such a tough looking car. Now they look plastic.
So you think this thing looks better than the car in this video xbun44zvg8U? Seriously, you have to be kidding... I am not talking about the features and what not, just the styling. The surf isn't the best example, the Hilux's are by far worse since the styling changes in 2006.
buy a dodge power wagon, if you're not one of the 'toyota reliability' trolls. it's got disconnecting sway bars, front rear and center lockers, and a factory winch up front.
If you want the best off-road pickup, you need two live axles. If you want two lives axles, you need to get a 3/4 ton pickup. The Power Wagon is, of course, a 3/4 ton pickup, and is the best off-roader of them all.
@amarrao95 HAHAHAHAHAHA BS they are good off road... I will admit they are a monster of a car with tonnes of pulling power but they would suck off road. Look how long they are man... going over something steep with a lip they would simply bottom out and do a see saw. There is noooo way they couldn't even go over the same things as my shitty old hilux - admittedly it is raised slightly, very slightly.
They've got the best artciluation in the biz. Yes, they are too long in the Crew Cab configuration, I wish they still offered a regular cab and Quad Cab, but even so, nothing else matches a factory winch, front and rear live axles, front and rear lokcing diffs, and electronic disconnecting sway bar. You'd spend tens of thousands putting that on any other truck aftermarket.
The Hummer has independent suspension yet you say you need live axles? I don't count a winch at making it a better off roader (I am not saying there not great) locking diffs are great but try a torsen diff, beats the hell out of lockers or even an active plate clutch differential... Landcruiser has d/c sway bars and adjustable suspens. All in All I believe the PW is too long (basically every version I have seen), too low and too small tyres. I am talking about average stock setup obviously...
@amarrao95 That's not true actually as applying the brake makes the diff think the free spinning wheel has traction and will deliver power to the opposite wheel, look it up - that is best incorporated with a traction control system obviously... You were sure that you needed live axles to have the best 4x4 and that obviously isn't true, so I gave you the example of the Hummer - although it does depend on your offroad needs e.g. rock crawling or some serious water crossing/mudding.
@2042nicky As good as torsen diffs are,they can never be better then lockers when it comes to off road.The problem with limited slip diffs is that they require a wheel to lose traction before they enguage,lockers don't.And although you can lock the diffs on the hummer,you have to use the brakes to do it,instead of pressing a button on the dash,which is easier.
@rangerover06sc It really depends on what type off off roading you are doing I guess... Though I do agree they are definitely better for rock crawling. Although there are electronic clutch diffs that can give 100% of the power to a certain wheel if the other comes off the ground. They are far and away the best kind for all types of off roading but they are complicated and expensive.
@2042nicky Again though,it takes time to sense wheel slip and send up to 100% of the torque to the right wheel,also that type of diff doesn't responed well if the slipping wheel isn't conpletely off the ground.Although that type of diff has advantages,lockers is more relieable and will often work better.
@IzZyTX1991 I would say KDSS is a good thing,it allows the 4Runner to perform well on and off road, and the Off Road version comes with a rear locking diff,and im not sure about this,but I think a lift kit would negatively affect KDSS, seeing how the system is designed to work best with its stock ride heigth
@2042nicky@rangerover06sc Toyota also looked at this and came up with A-TRAC, which is basically the same as transfering all the power to the other wheel like Traction, except it responds to really slow slippage and really locks the brakes on the wheel slipping for all 4 corners. But the Diff lock is definitely good aswell

Why do they have to design them to look like this shit??? The old ones were mean looking machines... Now they almost look like a soccer mom's car.

@2042nicky
Problem with torsens is that if you have complete loss of traction on one of the two wheels on an axle, you'll be stuck.
I don't remember mentioning a Hummer...
