As for solving the puzzle. Meh, it's given a distinct pattern of turns it'll do and it'll show off the rubiks cube at the end whether or not it actually solved it. It's programmed to do so. The head tilting just gives it the human 'pondering' factor, like it's trying to figure it out.

i doubt its really solving it. it was probably pre-messed up (if thats a word) and then it uses a series of movements that solve it again. great illusion and looks cool. you can tell because if it keeps tilting its head ofcourse its not going to recognize the colors and make a movement.

It really solved it. A kid just puzzled it enough just in front of me, and this robot solved it very quickly. Actually a optimized algorithm has been used after it recognizes the situation. Then a number of steps of the quicker solution has been queued and the time it took just for completing the mechanical tasks.... so it is not that hard I think.....

the japanese people arent interested in making robots that can complete the cube as fast as possible such as that of Rubot. many japanese adults are so intrigued with robots because of the show ATOM that they used to see as a child. they wish to make robots that acts, judges, and behave like humans. when you look at how this robot behaves compared to Rubot, theres a little humorous act of naively observing the cube of every angle like what confused people would do when solving rubic cube.

This is a really useless robot; you can have lego mindstorm robots that can solve a rubric's cube; and definitely faster (just search youtube). The programming logic behind it isn't as complicated in those regards; just a big fancy machine that plays a little song for something so trivial; There are other better robots in the Robot Exhibition (like the receptionist-type bot), this one is just kids play.

Second, there is a camera on the forehead of the robot, then before it starts to solve, it takes the cube, and spins it so that it can scan every side. Once it see's the pattern, it uses a program to find the fastest way to solve the cube, the goes about doing it. So please do us a favor, and don't give answers you don't know. Atleast google it before posting.
