Slider turtle, newly hatched. I found one crawling around in the dark room I used to work in. How he got inside a closed factory door, crawled at least 200 feet, went into curvy hallway, and found his way underneath my door, I'll never know. Just make that if you do keep him, he must be fed while he's in water. My sister owns one and he follows them around like a puppy. She has a video of him on you tube coming to her when she call him.
I once found a red slider and a map turtle. Both were abot that size. I didn't want to keep them unlike my dad(my hamster died then) so we kept them for a day and let them back to the lake shore.
Ha, I caught 1 bigger then that way back when I was younger and my daddy took my brother, middle sis & I fishing down at the marina down the street from us. I think it was a dang snapping turtle I caught and the dang thing stole my hook!!!!!! Didn't make off with my pole thankfully, just the hook. But that little fella is a cute little thing.
Awww, as a turtle person, I can see how cute he was, you scareded him! That's almost a newborn!!! I've only had one about twice the size of that little one! I traded some baby rabbits for a little one to get around the law clause, I named him Franklin, where'd you find it? Are you keeping it? They make wonderful pets, if Maddie doesn't eat it!
Hey Jason. Let that baby grow just a little bit, and he will happily remove your finger! That is a tiny snapping turtle. Here in the south, we call them "cooters" and they make for great eating!!
he walks up to you for safety, but yet you poke him a lot. and it's also funny that he's not the only one that goes to Jason--thinking he's the safest one to go to.
Cute Jay. It is amazing how tiny they start out. You were scared of that tiny thing? This is the same man that can walk around with the whole SYFY community watching him on T.V. each week while he searches for Ghosts and possible Demons? I don't believe it dude. Now if your name was Steve, I would believe it with out any question! It could jump at you and eat your face off. ! HEHE! =^-^=
This is similar to how I got my pet slider turtle. I found her during a camping trip at the Niangua river, she had been attacked by either a fox or a raccoon. I put her in an empty cooler and took her to a vet. Her injuries were so severe she wouldn’t have survived in the wild. I still have little Seabiscuit and she’s as happy as a three-legged turtle can be.
It is a painter (or red-ear slider) turtle. I found one when I was a little girl in girl scouts about the same size as yours. I brought him home and kept him. They grow rather large in time, depending on the size of the tank you keep them in. Mine got nasty and would bite, but that doesn't mean this one will. They sell these turtles in pet shops.
looks like a Eastern Painted Turtle hatch-ling
They do make good pets but LOTS of upkeep

Turtles love greens like from a mixed salad bag, if you are planning on keeping him. Adorable!
