  • He said "Your asking for trouble!"

  • "...the Wizard of Wor who occasionally comes out and machine guns you..."

Wizards with machine guns! What's not to like? (Gandalf should have had one of these in Lotr!)

  • Look at IGSRJ's ATARI PORN REVIEW video. So hilarious. He reviews this and Krull.

  • this game is really cool! the voice is freaky though but i like it!

  • i have this game also, but its on a astro warrior/pit pot cart. I too loved this game, none of my mates had it as a kid.

  • haha. my dad and i hold the world record to this game. the arcade version

  • I LOVE this game, played it on the Commodore 64 when I was very young, played it till my eyes bled. Would love to be playing it now!

  • I fell in love with this game when I was 6. I used to ask to go to the arcade every time we went out to eat just so I could play this game. It was one of the few video games I played before I got my nes for Christmas of 87.

  • Voice in the game scares the hell out of this full grown adult.

  • The theme is very similar to Donkey Kong's Arcade theme.

  • these game sounds bring back memories. for some reason wizard of wor was always the loudest game in the arcade

  • 1 of my fav games 4 the psp from the 80s

  • you're asking for trouble warrior.

  • Nice review !

  • I think we need subtitles for the digital voice there.

  • Wizard OF WOR is much better on the 2600 but that's just my opinion.

  • The sound effects when the wizard appears were far more dramatic on the Atari

  • I played this game on an Atari 800. It was not uncommon for me to marathon with this game. Good times.

  • The 64 version was the best! I hope they will make a movie of this game (like minesweeper :D ) So much adrenaline when they speed up and keep disappearing and reappearing in different places. I don't like the voice in this version, thou

  • Is this faithful to the original arcade version?

  • @79Yamato as far as i can tell from youtube, yes.

  • So, what's the UMD called? Just Wizard of Wor?

  • @sleinfer midway arcade treasures i think

  • @patrkcirtap Thanks, I'll check it out.

  • @sleinfer no problem

  • Love this game, it's just really abstract, no real world physics in it, which makes it great, if they re made it, they would make it 3D and kill it. Sounds like Stephen Hawking had some early in game voice-over work :)

  • Classic game. I remember going up to a laundromat near my house in 5th grade when this game came out and played it non stop. that was back in the days you could leave your house as a 10 year old and not really tell your parents where you were going. i remember my heart racing whenever the Wizard came out..

  • For some reason this game reminds me of Yor: Hunter from the Future.

  • the computer is a bastart for shooting you

  • Hmm, reminds me of the orginal Gauntlet a little

    Great review regardless

  • I always got freaked out when the Wizard appeared, 'cause 95% of the time, he caps me or he escapes. Got this on Midway Arcade Treasures 2 for the original Xbox. Awesome game, a real classic.

  • I have played this game! This was excellent, so cool to play 2 player game! : ]

  • That robot announcer must be tripping balls :o

  • ONE OF THE BEST GAMES EVER...PERIOD

  • ahh the good ol days of arcade

this galaga pacman defender joust mr do castle were my favorite games

fuck halo 3 give me qbert doubble dragon pcaman star wars dig dug any day

  • Has that got a joystick on it?

You bet.. you bet it does.

Can I come over and play it... For a quarter each time?

  • this game used to scare the crap out of me, i could hardly ever understand what he was saying. but i still love it

  • Does this game work on Playstation 1?

  • You didn't even get the wizard to come-out

  • One of my favorite Commodore 64 games ever. Fortunately C64's version didn't have that annoying voice all over to ruin the dramatic music. Funny that the AI player shoots you, this isn't a PVP game. Work together with a friend and you can get far.

  • I think the voice was cool actually.

  • yeah me 2

  • You gotta admit that Double Score Dungeon would make a pimp-ass band name.

  • @classof77 Holy shit that's what I'll call my band! Thanks!

  • @classof77 or porno!!!!!!?

  • that weird voice is sorta ceepy. i think this game is pretty cool

  • The entire game is constructed of win. Simple, addictive gameplay, especially made for two allies/rivals, synthesized horror-movie mood music and the heartbeat effect that speeds up, and all those bizarrely cool threat-phrases that only the badass Wizard could get away with saying...it all gets under your skin and haunts a little dusty portion of your brain (especially if you first saw the arcade cab as a little kid - nightmare fuel).

HA HA HA HA HA HA.

  • I have the c64 version 20 years after I discovered it I'm playing it again. And now I have the Bloody Patience to play it.

  • This was the arcade fave back in the early early 80's. I had this for the Atari 800, I can't remember my score however.

  • this game is friggin awesome. Every chance I play my PS2 or PSP, the first game I pick on Midway Arcade Treasures 2 or Midway Arcade Treasures Extended Play is Wizard of Wor.

I also recall playing the actual arcade machine in an arcade in San Diego when I was eight or so.

  • Z0MFG I00k 4t t3h 1337 U81NG N33B

  • It was a joke buddy. Save yourself the trouble.

  • yes i was completely serious

  • This was the game that originally taught me to be a camping whore bastard. You couldn't win any other way. Best I ever did on any version was dungeon 21 on the Atari 400/800. God I loved this game.

  • Lol - this game is drug, just wached, and now i wanna play it. :P Cool that PSP has games like that, you know.. ds more often has games like that now. (Simple and fun)

  • God I loved that game, DOUBLE SCORE DUNGEON BITCHES!

  • I love how the screen flashes when you shoot the "Worluk". That's just Awsome!

  • what are you talking about.

  • lol are you serious? that melody is older than time itself

  • donkey kong song

  • great game haha

    5/5

  • the Atari 2600 version was nOT that BAD. Could not get that far on the arcade version.

BTW Videotiopia, a video game museum set up all for play(!!), is touring here in Rochester (at the awesome Strong Museum of Play) (there are 89 games): exterminator (1980), Dominos (like surround-1976!!!!), GORF (1982-one of my favorites), TRon and discs of TRON, Dunebuggy, Donkey Kong, Pacman, Ms. Pacman, Sky diver, Hard Drivin' (double screen), kiddie KLAX, Lunar Lander, Space War, Pole position, Breakout

  • That weapon reminds me of a Jaffa staff weapon from Stargate! I see a remake coming!!

  • Yeah it does :P

  • i had c-64 version, many hours on this game, good times! great review

  • What a lousy demo. You didn't even show the bad-ass wizard....

    lame...

  • Isn't this on the Midway Treasures game? Anyway, this seems like a really lame game for $4.99-$9.99. Honestly, I like it, but that one game for Intellivision blows this away. Night Crawler......No Night Stalker. That should be remade.

  • If there is one game on Intellivision that should be remade it's Astrosmash. Give the Space Invaders treatment and you'd have something awesome.

  • yes it is on it .read the description

  • This looks like an atari 2600 game!

  • probabkly pecause it is

  • the "get ready" music sounds like donkey kong

  • lmao, it does.

  • i see u noticed as well :)

  • Actually this game came out one year before Donkey Kong in the arcades.

  • well, i didn't say which one came out first. i just noticed a similarity

  • u and your flamethrowers!

  • "Worrior" xD

  • lol it's always about the flamethrower

  • 0:35 - You bird assed him.. good review 5*

  • He POWNED ME LOLZ nice review

  • did the computer voice laugh? haha

  • This game needs to be rereleased or revived on XBLA. But they should not make it look like a modern game! Instead it should have plenty of nostaigia and have the same good old arcade look. If Midway revives it, they should do it like Taito did with Space Invaders Extreme or what Namco Bandai did with Pac Man: Championship Edition. Do that, and you have a worthy revival.

  • Be sure to hunt down the Atari 5200 Version too!!!

  • i love the primitive speech in this game

  • It's also on Atari 5200 and I think Colecovision.

  • Great review!!!

    I love this game!!!

    I got it for the PS2. :)

  • Used either the same or very similar hardware to Gorf. The voices are from a text to speech chip and not sampled. Also used the same graphics chip as the Bally Astrocade home console. In the Astrocade this chip had only 4k and left some pins unconnected so it was unable to use it's high res mode. In the Astrocade it could only do 160x102, in Bally's arcade boards it was capable of 320x204 because the pins were connected and it had more display memory.

  • Had you gotten a XEGS instead of a 5200, you could have gotten the atari 800 version of WizWor instead :p

  • Ihave the Atari 2600 cart and it's pretty good. I call it "Pac-Man with a gun"

  • You did not get to the wizard of wor. Its 2500 points.

  • Does anyone else notice that that little tune when a new level starts sounds similar to the Donkey Kong one?

  • yer it does just missingg 3 notes

  • good review, excellent quality sound, well done

  • reminds me of beserk and digdug that voice is funny

  • INSERT COIN

  • that game is the bomb

  • This game reminds me of Night Stalker for the Intellivision.

  • Wizard of Whores xD?

  • you obviously can't read...dumbass

  • i was jokeing chill...

  • This game has always haunted me because when i was a kid my dad brought this home for the atari 2600 back in the day and i yanked it out with the power still on and fuked it up( come on i was like 4 or sumthin ). he never let me forget it for years so i bought one off ebay to shut him up. it actually worked. wish i had done it sooner. lol, great review.. =)

  • nice stab

  • Very nice. The Atari 2600 port isn't as good but holds the very basic elements and is still fun. You know, pretty much how just about every port of an arcade game is on the Atari. This makes me want a PSP so much more. I would put MAME on mine for sure.

  • lol what did orcs come up with the name? WOOOOOOR!!!! XD

  • A bad ass Pac man lol

  • Mark please review Battletoads.

  • that game is awesome! I hope he reviews it too.

  • Like a crossover between Berzerk and Pac-Man

  • thats what i was thinking

  • Epileptic seizure at 2:38

  • Stephen Hawking does the narrating for the game I think.

  • never heard of this before. I would love to see the 2600 version.

  • i just tried the rom rip on my psp 2600 emu

and it had bugs, i cud walk tru walls n shit

but it suppose that's the fault of the emu

  • That's maybe the first bad-ass game ever. I just love it. You forgot to mention the Wizard who appears occasionally after killing the Worluk. And when you kill him it makes the whole screen scream in agony. What a game for 1980!

  • Wizard of Wor was also ported to the Bally Astrocade as "The Incredible Wizard", and it's probably the best early port of the game.

  • I think I have this for the 2600 and maybe for the Tele-Games

  • blake3one6 is better but good review awsome

  • Ahh, I just love that music.

  • cool

  • I want to play this..

  • I saw the Atari 2600 version at my local game store. I wonder if I should pick it up?

  • yes... Even if you dont have a 2600 yu should still buy it for collecting.

  • Oh, I do have a nice woodgrain Atari 2600, I just wasn't sure it was worth the cost. I think they wanted $10 for it or something. Same with Tunnel Runner, which I think was published by the same company.

  • oh, 10 bucks isnt much....

  • look like alot of fun

  • awsome

  • Around 1:40 that music sounds like it was ripped from Burger Time.

  • Looks like a multiplayer bomb.

  • Another great classic game. Awesome

  • nice^^

  • You didnt even watch the video before typing 0.0

  • yea, but CGR is so awesome, you can write it before the game is even released xD

  • I find it funny that if someone wants to have the first comment but not write first! and have the world scorn them, they just put nice. I mean . . . what's nice, you being the first to comment,or the video because I'm pretty sure that you haven't watched the video yet.
