  • this is song beautiful

  • Albeniz is hard to mess up. Beautiful pieces.

  • @Konstant1989 I could probably mess it up! :(

  • 1.42 sec just to see the guitar

  • excellent performance!

  • How come right at 2:49 to 2:53 or so, it sounds completely different than what the sheet music looks like?? any everyone plays it like that? i dont understand im sooo confused!! please helppppppp

  • @ditman333 At this point in johns life he had taken to using some very non classical approach in his interpretation of Spanish music and so he played i this way to emulate a more rhythmic spanish players playing. He felt that it kept the dance spirit of the music more than the classical approach.

  • @ItsJustVivi Yes but every person plays it that dude, which is what i dont get. Listen to all different interpretations , you will see what i mean....

  • God has nothing to do with anything.(God?..) He simply practiced and practiced and practiced and practiced and practiced and practiced until he got this good.

  • Love you, John.

  • I BELIEVE THAT GOD TOUCHED HIS HANDS BY MISTAKE...

  • I like the different tuning of strings that bring out a rich G chord with a beautiful high melody. Albeniz had a great mind for music.

  • I tried to compare Williams with Bream...just as good.except that maybe Bream had a more distinct sound on his guitar? Or maybe it's just the recording...Great interpretation anyway

  • r u kidding mee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Three people have hearing difficulties.

  • GREAT ISSAC ALBENIZ!

  • Wow, a beautiful rendition of the piece. Very nice indeed. First time I heard this on guitar was by an Austrian named Konrad Ragossnig and I really like his recording. I like this one a lot too.

  • The pure sound of his guitar is unbelievable. Fantastic !

  • Do people think he is a "cold player" simply because of his lack of facial expression while playing? Because his recordings-- any of them-- are chalk full of emotion.

  • Beautiful.

  • its very nice

  • simplemente espectacular. El sutil arte de la precisión.

  • Camera man, more right hand shots next time ok?

  • look at 2:35 what a perfect beginning it's like another world another ......

  • I do believe that Williams can be a "cold" player from most of what I have seen, but he really does preforms this piece really well.

  • He s not my favourite player....but he is a God of the guitar and only a fool would dispute his incredible gift and talent. If you cant hear and see it in that performance you need medical help. Breath taking and ravishing on the slow section especially. Rock on J W !!

  • @arfurlife Don't compare Williams to God please, God is nowhere as near as good at the guitar!

  • @coltranelovetrain That implying he exists

  • he doesn't sound like daincing, Bream dances with his guitar

  • See this...with Raphael Rabello

  • OLE Y OLE SEVILLA!!

  • klasse!!!

  • i have this same video on dvd along with others

  • He is just the best!

  • i prefer segovias version

  • Gorgeous. Williams captures the spirit of Spain. It haunts my dreams with pure magic.

  • I like that he plays it with a steady rhythm, and not with too much rubato.

  • @Myanelaroc JOSE FELICIANO , GENIAL COMO GUITARRISTA?????

  • JOHN WILLIAMS IS MY GOD!

  • Indeed Canary, simply the best technique I've ever heard...clean, crisp and brilliant!

  • ahhhh 3:41

  • @imaguachi you must have been drunk and on crack when you wrote this

  • @imaguachi You better calm down, bro!

  • I have loved John Williams' playing all my adult life, and I love Seville. So this video is perfect for me !

  • I dont undestand people who say John Williams plays without feel and emotion, not only is he one of the most if not the most technically clean players i have ever scene. if you listen to the music without actually watching him play there is plenty of feeling to the song, i think people watch him play and because he doesnt use a lot of facial expression and sway when he plays they call him life less. close your eyes and actually listen, the music is spot on.

  • @ryrides Yes indeed, the music is spot on, and to here Williams play is incredible, but when you yourself (like me) are playing the pieces you realise that you have to involve artistic license far more on the guitar than on any other instrument. I am about to take my performance diploma on it and am playing a piece by Albeniz, you have to realise that its a transcription, and transcriptions are the artists idea of what the piece should sound like. Listen to him playing Prelude 2 by V. Lobos...

  • sucks... he isnt even playing it right...BOOO FAKE AND GAY!!!!! IM A TROLLLL!!!!!!

  • A Horrible sounding guitar ,australian junk.

  • Interesting to compare to Milos Jancic. IMO Jancic is more natural and musical. His phrasing is uncanny.

  • He IS THE REAL STAR.

  • Despite Williams' excellent technique, I must criticise one small aspect of his playing of this piece (and hope that others don't fall into the same trap). With the big melody (first at 0:29), he seems to lose the singing line in favour of the right hand strum. Other than this, this is a good interpretation and performance as would be expected.

  • @odinnshred Agreed

  • I grew up on Segovia but John is the master. While Li Jie tells the story similarly, and while she has an instrument with comparable, beautiful resonates, no one is as clean as John. Perhaps some consider the lack of cleanliness as emotional, but to me squeaks are not pretty.

  • lol and is that a bandaid on his finger?? lol

  • Bravo. Very Great video.

  • I dont like to compare guitarists but after listening to Manuel Barreco's 200 yrs of guitar I find it hard to choose, Personaly I prefer Xuefei Yang's version to John Williams.

  • he looks like hes very shy and introverted and that is what makes his interpretation good

  • only 20 858 views for such a beautiful music...=(,john williams play it soooooo welllllll....maestro john williams sory...

  • No problem my friend and forgive my english I'm a mexican classical guitarist trying to learn Shakespeare's language. Greetings from Mexico

  • Manuel Barrueco is a very good gutarist but the difference between him and JW is naturality, some people were born to do something, JW was called the prince of the guitar by Andres Segovia, JW is unique because of his interpretation, naturality and clearity, For example he always respects music the way other guitarist cannot, Yepes for example in Sor's study number one plays it really quickly when it's possible, when not, he stops and tries to balance the lack of speed by doing some tricks

  • fanfuckingtastic!

  • The best interpretation of Sevilla, John Williams is simply the best classical guitarist ever.

  • wouldnt it be great to play this whilst walking around the older sections of seville.....

  • At 3:01 , whats that move he does with his index and middle (Indice and Medio for the fanatics) fingers?? It doesn't sound out, but he clearly makes the motion.

  • @duffshot81 I think he wanna stop the resonnance of the bass strings. At 3:19, he does it again, and you clearly listen to it. I'm working on this thing, I mean, this technic of stopping the sounds of the bass strings ... You can do it with the thumb of the right hand, or whatever, with the nose as my teacher says joking. Regards.

  • This is one of the most 'Musical' performances I've heard from John... Well done!

  • Really Great Interpretation!!!! Where are those who say Williams is a cold player??

  • @hansley270

dead...done in by their own cynicism.....

  • @hansley270 There are people that say Williams is a cold player??? They must talking about David Russell... While a great technician, plays with virtually no emotion :-/

  • @broggi007 no

  • @hansley270

those people just don't know what it means to be "in the zone"....

  • @hansley270 He's not cold but nor one of the warmest, if you listen to Segovia he had a peculiar way to feel music while he played... But doubtless Williams is a damn genius ;)

  • @hansley270 They are all hiding under a duvet in their rooms watching The Deer Hunter and crying at the moment Michael returns to his town and cannot bring himself to get involved immediately, while Cavatina is playing softly in background ;-)

  • that is so perfect!

  • bella piesa

  • Brilliant. As always John Williams captures the true spirit of the music. Passionate yet still sensitive.

  • @CanaryColin That's exactly right, it's like he knows exactly what they meant when they wrote them XD

  • so good

  • The usual mastery by Williams. I never get tired of his recordings.
