The ceremony is said to bring in contact with the gods of the jungle and place you in the corrent path in life. I had heard of stories of drug addicts taking part and never touching their addiction again.
However to be privileged to partake in such ceremonies one must be considered part of the respective tribe or have spend a considerable time with the individuals. Most shamans will not grant such an experience to tourists or westerners.
This cleansing is the first step in a long ceremony (if they went through with the ayahuasca part) in which they experience out of body moments which make your lifes quest and ambition much clearer. To experience the full ayahuasca ceremont one must be truly privileged to be part of it let alone be in the right country.
@BZerp : you are right, we went thru whole ceremony, couple of times in the period of the 10 days which we were staying with the familly, we were blessed that we met such a kind and powerful shaman who guided us in the world of the spirits...
@ChrisR410a What difference does it make if someone else is there on the left, what difference does it make if there were bugs about? I'm sure she knew what she was doing in regards to getting the correct sprays before she left. what difference does it make what the guy was doing, what he uses or its outcome? I'm sure its the experience that counts regardless to whether it makes you "look humiliated" or not. just appreciate the video for what it is. you are sounding like her mother dude!

Every time I see this video I can't help but think just how cold that water would be, even in the jungle, so I guess watching the ritual is in fact a lot more relaxing than taking part in it...
Yea it does look peaceful and relaxing. I wonder what exactly it is he is doing though. I mean exactly. I see these on youtube I'd love a detailed explanation. Is he praying for? Evil spirits to leave. The bad juju/vibes to leave. What?
@pendragonshall He is clearing their energy body, removing all the crap that is on the surface. The Ayahuasca will go deeper and clean the inside out. Not really praying, just a practical energetic maneuver.

everything is work with the energies or spirits (depend how you want to call it)
1 - blowing to your crown chakra
2- meditating, holding the space
3- its in the amazon, yes there are bugs, from the begining is bug spray necesary, but later you needed it less, .. also depend what you eat..
