Wow, That looked really awesome and I was wondering where the "bad loop" was exactly.....until I saw your face that is. That last loop was kinda messy so I guess it was there that you mashed your face. I could say practice makes perfect too, but lets face it, you're already pretty damn good.
a place where ive been climbing for about 28yrs now (big wall), the ravens cant wait for spring and when i come back, to show me their new tricks they learned over the 'winter'. Many involve loops and being smooth, and of course..no flapping the wings!
Glad it was nothing serious..you have more bottle than me for even attempting a loop!....i know these things look good and impressive but is the risk really worth just a loop?..imagine if you were knocked out?...you only get one life bro...buzzards and eagles dont loop...why do we need to?...not my say in what u do..but take care man!...thanks for the video...
@FSXISCOOL Maybe you don't see many eagles flying, eh? Eagles and ravens are doing loops and rolls all the time at our flying site. Besides, people that learn aero progressively and have a knack for it don't do it just to show off, and they aren't taking extreme risks. Like any sport, practice, and attention to detail and technique can provide much more reward than risk. Feel free to check up on my videos as well.
The bottombar hit me over the nose and the eye. I think I got a small cut over the eye and my nose was of course bleeding. It happened because I pulled up to hard for the loops. Gotta be very gentle on the moves.... Fly hard! =P
Ah, got to be easier on the pull ups. Once the glider starts to pull up, resist the bar pressure and it will be lots smoother and with less load. Nice way to test for structural failure, though! Glad it came out intact! Aaron
So glad you did not get knocked unconsious. Now that would be bad.Reminds me of the first double jump i did on my dirtbike, only i split my chin, and pulled it off to the cheers of my buddies.Fly safe brother.
@glendeco lol....Just bought a house in montrose/cimarron area colorado....for the sole purpose of getting into HG...well...and a government job transfer...HG is just the icing on the cake. Little feller? LOL.....I'm 6'3" 220 lbs at 4% bodyfat.......I watched your HG videos...your the little fella compared to me.---Retired Army Combat Veteran.......several skydives under my belt....pretty sure HG isn't gonna scare me......
@glendeco Lol....i stalked your mom until she started giving it up to full time....I will be going to HG school in draper very soon....maybe i will see ya there and we will see who the "little feller" is......I just think it's funny when people make claims about doing rad shit with no proof.....surely you meant just a double jump as in going over a double with no tabletop in the middle....i grew up on dirtbikes and bmx...still ride bmx alot.....i have a video of me doing a flip on bmx in iraq
Did you lose bar pressure during your dive after the first loop? There was an interesting article by John Heiney about this phenomenon in the current USHPA magazine. Vertical dive after loop with great speed and no bar pressure...when the pilot pushes out, the glider pitches up violently... Hope you checked your wing after that!
I had bare pressure all the time, I guess I was to eager to get around and let the bar out too fast. I guess the sail got stretched a lot and the bottombar is longer than it used to be...
@scoppit The thing is, with flex wings the harder you pull up, he more the wing twists. The more the wing twists, the harder it will pull up on its own, making the pull up force increase dramatically, and hard to hold back. Easy pull up will make for manageable pitch pressures throughout. Don't be in a big hurry. Be safe!
