Viscous Limited Slip Differential - works by heating a thick fluid, making it expand. When the wheels spin in opposite directions the fluid between the plates is heated up and expands, locking the plates together. Most tamed and street useable differential.
There is no such thing as an "open LSD" , there is only a "open" diff that rotates the tires at different speeds or a LSD, that locks to its own characteristics. On the hardcore side there is the so called "welder" that is fully locked all of the time.
dude your trying to tell some1 that puts them in and fixxes them i know i messed up it was a typo eather u have a open diff 2 way 3 way lsd u can learn that shit from playing gran turismo long enough
get stuck in the mudd without lsd one tire spins the other does nothing thats open u can drift without 1 i swear ive done it
3-way? Is that something you invented yourself :P ? As there are only 1, 1.5 and 2 way LSD's. Respectively locking up on acceleration, acceleration and part de-cel and fully on acc and deceleration.
Stop playing GT and try it before trying to sound smart.
@guccamain Don't be dumb. The outside wheel naturally has to spin faster while takin a turn an an open differential is what allows the wheels to spin at different speeds. Hence when you weld an open diff, it's locks up both wheels at all times. There is no such thing as an open LSD, and it's virtually impossible to drift with an open diff. You can powerslide/fishtail but that's about it. As far as keeping a drift going, good luck with that.
@shdymoj0 bull shit it allows one wheel to spin faster its still dirifting and even an lsd allows the wheels to spin at 2 different speed do to the clutches in the differental
@guccamain Hence the name LIMITED slip. No, I can guarantee you're not drifting. You can keep thinking doing a donut and spinning out over and over again is drifting.
the zenki 180sx came with the same tails as the us 240 did. and it wouldnt have an sr. the zenki had a ca18det. and the reason it sounds the same is that it has a stock motor, exhaust, and recirculating blow off. hope it helps
The 180SX exterior was identical to the 240SX. Only difference was S13 hatchback 240s were finished in 1993 so North America never got the Kouki model with the different tails. And it's a Zenki 180 so it has a CA18, not an SR20.
Sort of. Viscous diffs use fluid to transfer power kind of like a torque converter. It takes time for it to start transferring power when a wheel starts to slip, and even when it does it's not going to lock up firmly like a performance clutch-type LSD. Secondly, hard use will overheat the fluid and destroy it's shear properties. One day of drifting can destroy a viscous diff and it will revert basically to an open diff. And since it's in a sealed unit you can't just replace the fluid.
yes this is defently before year 91 because of the small split in frobnt of the hood, newer ones hood came down to the pumper without any split or what ever they called, so 18det almost certain, but it dun matter anyway u wrote this here like 2weeks ago, hah
well then im impressed with the abilities of the car being stock with a ca...of course its all about the driver keiichi but it seems the ca can do the job aswell as the sr..
yes it seems stock with the height and all, and yes u can drift stock with ease its not that hard, thats why 200sx is the best car for me, u dont even need to change anything and can drift already it has alot of torque power for drifting and weight is already small in tock so 10points for this car
to all u punks who dun geti it still, USA version is 240sx without turbo and bigger engine, but way slower than the japanese version 180sx and european version 200sx, EU 200sx have 1.8L turbos and also 2.0L engines with turbo. so get this straight already. japanese and european are almost the same.
ah cool. my 180 is the older one just like in this video, midnight blue too (but always looks black at night). the only mods i have are removed wing, lightweight racing wheels, strut tower bar, exhaust, intake, leather interior and sound system. still makes a crazy drifter straight from the factory :)
Not even the 200sx SE-R is called a Silvia. The U.S Spec 200sx is the only car Nissan badged with "SX" that is not in any way related to the "S" chassis(AKA the "Silvia" Chassis). BTW, What is a North American Nismo Test?
well if you want to get technical..the only 200sx's that are to be called silvias..hints the s in s 13..and so on..are the SE-R thats what a Silvia is..SE-R..
dude what are you talking about. the 200sx is the s13/14 (your 240sx).
the sentra s-er is a totally different car. not even related the the silvia in any way shape or form aside from the sr20 that was used in the non turbo s13 180sx's uk and japan. the 180sx is an s13 too by the way. if you are not sure what your talking about dont comment.
Damm, that seems really hard to do. I remember when my 240sx was bone stock and I tried to drift......almost impossible. It's crazy how he easily did that with a open diff and stock suspention. The only time I got some clean drift action (when my car was stock) is when it was raining!! Tsuchiya is the greatest!!! 5/5
instead of arguing, go check S13 in wikipedia. 200sx has 1.8L its just the european version. Trust me i have that car and on the back it says 200sx 1.8L
the 240sx came looking like the 200sx but with a SR in it...it also was a S13,S14,S15 in different countries but it got the S15 name from the V spec model
V spec model like the skyline vspec I and II but no one pays attention to that name instead its just S15 or skyline or whatever nickname that they have for it
these guys dont know nothing about the 180,200,240...the 180 had a CA in it but changed to a SR in 91, in europe they had a different name for it (S110 Silvia)..japan (silvia 180sx) its not a 180 but a sivia version...S15,S14,S13,S12,S11,S10 is the 200sx model(they had many names for it in different counties) but they had a CA in it but also a SR in a different version which stoped at 1998 for the 200sx
I think I'll keep My Ka. It may not haul as much ass, but it accelerates fine for my standards. Its also a hell of a lot easier to pass emissions test that way, too.
the 200sx does not come with SR20 3point racer in the 180sx's name was changed in for export in europe and it has a CA18DET the JDM 180sx has either CA or SR depending on the age

S13 200sx came with both (ca18det 1.8L turbo T25 turbo and it also came with the 2r20det 2.0L turbo T25 turbo) when the S14 came out it came with only the sr20det and a t28 turbo. hope that clears a few things up.

well dude u can drift anything
u can buy cheap beginner drift tires that dont stick at all but the pro tires stick quiet a bit

Not if it has a open diff, the least you need is a visc, or all you can do is just throw the weight around.

i dont no about lsd but normal diff flud crap can be replaced theres an opening in it (in my car anyway)

and i guess they kinda put it in the catigory with the silvia.
cuz they both have the same motor..
that happened in like 1996 or something

Your abit backwards. Your starting with American cars. Try japanese which is the real versions.
180sx- popup headlights and glass roof. Ca and Sr all in turbo except a few in like 96 i think it was.
Silvia- coupe with square lights. Ca and Sr in na and turbo.
S14 200sx- SR turbo and NA in japan.
S15 200sx- Sr turbo and NA in japan
240sx and anything American with KA motor shouldnt even be counted unless ya gonna get a jap motor.
