Ive actually ridden in the engines of Shay #2 and #6. The brake work by just the engineers is amazing. I love Cass! I am defiantly making this an every year trip!
Lucky...they actually have room to ride up there? Looking at the cab it didn't seem like there was much space for anyone except the engineer and fireman, MAYBE one more crewmember.
Believe it or not yes. U just have to be the first to ask and find the engineer thats in a good mood. Shay six is more "luxurious" to ride in because of the size. But the ride is amazing and if ur lucky u can blow the whistle =)
I'm sure this was a trip you'll never forget seeing and doing again. The dense forest is just beautiful to see compared to the forest of buildings we see in our areas. Its definatly a railroad we'd both visit again.
