  • Really good review. The interior plastic sheath can be flipped around for left hand carry if the rivet is removed from the bottom of the sheath & replaced with a Chicago screw. Micarta scales would make this an outstanding knife.

  • Hey

    Thanks for rewiew.

Is it the same weight as BK2?

    Which one You preffer?

    regads

  • COULD YOU POSSIBLY RECOMEND A KNIFE -THAT IS NOT BIG ENOUGH-HEAVY ENOUGH- I USE A KURKI BUT HATE THE CURVE IN IT.

LOOKIN FOR ABOUT A 12-16 INCH BLADE THAT WILL NOT BEND OR BREAK AND HOLD AN EDGE. MONEY IS SCARSE BUT IT IS ALSO NO OBJECT FOR A BLADE ILL USE FOREVER.

    ANY THOUGHTS

THANK YOU- AND YOUR DOIN GREAT WORK FOR ALL OF US

  • @profetarmageddon You should scream louder next time so he can hear you better.

  • This knife is a great buy for the money a 1095 steel is a much better steel than any AUS garbage or 400 series stainless it's also a more expensive steel than these other types.Just like the others Schrade makes cheaper and more expensive better all though they do obviously prefer to keep most of their product line under $100.

  • doesn't it come with a pouch on the front?

  • hey adam,

what´s that stuff in the back on the table??

  • Nice review, try to do something using the SCHF3N, I think thta is an awesome knife. I am not a schrade fans club member to be honest, but the SCHF3N and the SCHF9 the are both just amazing kinfes.

  • @Joranba i own the SCHF3N, it is made of 440A stainless steel. The steel is soft as hell, doesn't hold an edge well at all.

  • @Eso1 I agree with you, but I still think that is a good knife for the price! ..$38?

  • @Joranba It's not too shabby, the ergonomics are good. And design, i just think the heat treatment is tricky with chinese made knives. I notice heat treatments that aren't a guessing game, in Taiwan made knives. The steel is pretty much equal to 1055 steel, so if you've ever used a cold steel machete you would know how the edge holding is. Although 1055 can be made hard (cold steels katanas are made of 1055) it all depends on the heat treatment.

  • @Joranba I'll put it this way, if you are chopping some saplings and cut through and strike a pebble, expect to spend a lil bit of time reprofiling and putting that edge back.

  • Thanks...I asked about it over a year ago my SCHF 9 sheath has a pouch on the front which can be removed and worn on the belt.

Next please review the Schrade SCHF3 Extreme Survival another home run by Schrade.

  • Nice work with the close ups , I was hoping to get a closer look, nice knife!

  • Adam, would you recommend getting a custom kydex sheath made for this knife? Or is it too large? Thanks!

  • @billyshob you can pick up some 12inch x 12 inch sheets of kydex pretty cheap then just heat it up in the ovenand mold it to the knife and trim. really easy process and lots of vids on how to

  • very nice affordable knife great review :)

  • Great review Adam. How would it stack up to the BK2? (Which is one of my favorite reviews).

  • i have this knife also .. high value !!

  • i love mine, great price too!!

  • cool. For that price point I might have to get one to play with (right after all the crap i need for the house)..LOL

  • Nice Knife , Nice Price

  • Well one thing you're missing is the pocket on the front.

Haha i think your friend took the pocket. It looks kind of like a Leatherman nylon pouch with straps on it. The straps go around the back and under the Molle-ish strap.

I just got one of these in the mail.

  • Hi Adam,

    Great review!

Schrade surprised me with the SCHF1 which is just about as nice as my CRK one piece knives for under $50.00 delivered. I'm gonna have to check this one out, getting 1095 blades at reasonable prices is almost unheard of anymore ( Rat/ESEE ). I like my Becker Campanion which was a good deal but Schrade coming in so low in cost with this lone is just a really nice surprise. I may buy one of each :)

  • Nice review. I liked the close-up view segment, and not having to skip past the usual intro. I'm excited about the economical knife too - pretty sure I'll pick one up to test.

  • how does it stack up to the BK 2 ?

  • Not bad, Im going to have to look into this, I was seriously thinking about getting the Zero Tolerance Model 0100, witch this is clearly modeled after but with the ZT price tag of about 235.00 I dont think I could go wrong with this knife

  • I'm really surprised that the hollow ground knives did as well as they did. One thing I would add to your tests though Adam, Is to cut down a 1 to 2 inch (in width) sapling by simply carving it. (Cody Lundin demonstartes this in "98 degress..." using only a 4 inch Mora) Now I have yet to see a hollow ground blade that can do that very well, but that doesn't mean there isn't one.

  • Did you not get the little pocket that goes on that front velcro part of the sheath? If you see how that little detachable pocket works, the molle-looking velcro straps in the back will make more sense to you.

  • Thanks for the review, I had not known anything about this blade until i saw it here. I just ordered one from amazon. how can you go wrong with a 40-dollar, 1/4 inch, full tang 1095 blade? Its worth it just to keep in the car as a backup camping knife. I've already got a bk2 and a bk9 but this would fit nicely in between them. I've always thought Schrade just made cheap 440SS knives for Big5 but this high value piece is changing my mind a bit.

  • What knife is this a "knock off" of?

  • @XIronhideX625 Its similar to a few designs such as the Pacific by Chris Reeve Knives or like what @jstrubes mentioned the ZT 0100.

  • I'm seriously going to look into getting this knife, feel alot more confident about a product after it gets a positive Equip 2 Endure review thanks Adam!

  • @rith5 Dude, get a Becker BK7, or BK2. Or, go one step above and get an ESEE. Those would be much better than the Schrade.

  • @FallacyofMan They also require a much higher amount of money spent for the end user. This Schrade knife offers similar features at a much lower price point. It all depends on user preference and what the end user's plans are for using the knife. No knife is intrinsically better than another as they all serve specific purposes.

  • I like the look of this, kinda like a mini Kershaw Outcast

  • dont dig sharade so much!
