@TheHoboman89 .....WHAT NET?????....we fish traps and no we do not need to rush ....rushing causes shit to happen ! slow and easy wins the race.we got 21 pots to land we go out at 5 am takes about 15 min a pot to haul and sort the carb we get in at 1:00pm with a full belly no need. to rush we have all day out there enjoy one of the best jobs on the planet! once saw a shark biting our bouy was freaking awsome

@ayrxdragoneye I'd take that challenge, I've already been fishing on a 40'er with 18 traps, we go twice as fast as these guys without damaging any crab at all, you need a elevated deck or at least a way to raise the trap to be launched away from the crab and something better then the crab itself or a flimsy pan to hold it, not that difficult to make a supporting table from wood for this purpose, and it's not that expensive, I'd film it, but I'm a bit busy working while everything's going on.

as I said, I fish with my father in Grand Etang with 18 traps, so kinda hard to be in two places at once.

the season went retardedly quick, only 8 days for us(we were being lazy for the last couple, bringing half the gear each day) everyone was done by the second weekend, just completely retarded.

@VIDEOZAL this isn't the bering sea man, and it's not area 12 fishing, they can only have a maximum of 26 traps to haul and more cases then not they get home before supper time every day, I know, I'm fishing the same general area and fishery, these guys need to speed it up or it's going to take all day, me and my friend would have that trap dumped and nearly sorted by the time this video ended, they're dragging their feet, there's only about 200-250lb of crab to sort, nothing big deal about it.

@VIDEOZAL as I said, the way they do it is firstly dangerous and time consuming, you don't want to be there too long, it's tedious, hard work, but c'mon, your there to work your ass off for your wages, these men make a bundle of money, or they wouldn't be there, suck it up and work and if you can't do that, quit, or you'll be fired soon enough for not working hard, if I were acting like this on deck, I'd get one warning, then I'd be fired at the end of the day, final, your there to work.

also, the four cone traps are shit, buy some single cone, a lot easier to work with and you catch more crab.

you guys have a horrible system, too risking for damaging crab and killing yourselves, one bad wave and that trap is out of your hands, flying around deck like a wrecking ball.

the crab should never be put in trays before sorting, really confusing when you start getting larger amounts of crabs, especially large ones, two or more females get in the tank, your finished for the season.

I'm from cheticamp and have never seen such a bad system, even dropping the trap on the crab, tsk tsk tsk.

I will, but our season only starts in july and I only got my camera in october of last year, so I haven't had the chance to record it yet.

the biggest problem here is the loose trap, if they had a reasonable deck, the trap wouldn't need to be put on a set of pans and the crab wouldn't be be crushed under the trap.

are you a crab fisherman?

if not, those traps weigh in excess of 200-250lbs, doesn't sound like much compared to the size of the trap, but they are like wrecking balls on rough days.

i dont know much about snow crab fishing (i'm a lobstermen) but isn't there a better trap design then that? they seem awkward to handle. also the circular design makes staking them not as efficient as square or rectangle traps.
