This is an extremely poor video. It gives 0 useful information that you can't get from just listening to one good performance. It spends more time talking about spiritual mumbo-jumbo than actual music. Plus there are so many errors. For one, Pt. Bhimsen Joshi is labelled as "Pt." Bismillah Khan. Both of these masters are too great for this confusion to be acceptable. Thumbs down.

Thanks for the excellent summary. But I have always felt strange "talking" about music. I studied classical Indian singing for a short time and a little table, to better understand this amazing musical tradition. Would like to see it cross-pollinate with Western harmony.

Great effort at representing the Indian classical music. However, I was surprised that there was no mention of the dhrupad style, which is the source of both hindustani khayal and carnatic music. None of the legendary dhrupad vocalists and veena players are included. Also, non-indian maestros such as John Higgins (Carnatic) and Ken Zuckermann (sarod) should have been included. Also, the bollywood and folk music at the end is not Indian Classical Music.

It depends. For example; most Dutch people are not blond anymore because even a small amount of mixing with reds and brown will do that. But we still have our lactose tolerance which is actually higher on average then sweden or saxony. interesting huh?

I have read in many historical text that Africa alone holds many tribes, language groups and ethnic cultures that predate the racially mixed, dravidian-aryan-tocharian-turkic-mongolian-arabic-negroid-european (<--- insert missing conquerers and rapists) culture in India. Great effort at representing the Indian classical music. However, I was surprised that there was no mention of the dhrupad style, which is the source of both hindustani khayal and carnatic music. None of the legendary dhrupad vocalists and veena players are included. Also, non-indian maestros such as John Higgins (Carnatic) and Ken Zuckermann (sarod) should have been included. Also, the bollywood and folk music at the end is not Indian Classical Music.
