@arielrati it is a classical piece by Franz Schubert Piano Sonata No. 20 in A Major. They jazzed it up for the ending credits theme and from Season 3 - 7 they no longer used the full intro.
Thanks for posting the best theme ever! I have the series on DVD and I sit through every intro. Trivia:This show is responsible for the "cold open". That's the 5-10 second intro theme popular now. Wings ratings was slumping in the post Cheers spot and NBC did away with the long classy intro. It worked, Wings ratings regained strength. Pity the American attention span.
i often forget about this show because theres never any reruns on! it makes no sense!!! with similar shows like cheers on all the time, but never wings :(
As a pilot that landing at the end of the song always makes me cringe. Airplanes are supposed to land on the main wheels first, the two big ones underneath the wings and the nose wheel last. The pilot in this video landed on all 3 wheels at the same time...a very poor landing which could have bad consequences. But, this opening theme is one of my all time favorites of any show..and the show itself is one of my all time favorites!
I recently received Seasons 1 and 2 in the mail and I was happy to see that this show, to me, is still just as funny to me as it used to be when I was a kid. :-) I loved the comedic parts, but in the first few episodes, I noticed that Tim Daly and Steven Weber were both very good dramatic actors [a fact which has been proven to me many times over later in the years]. :-)
Thank you so much for posting this intro! It brings back a lot of great memories for me! :-D
What a great program! I watched it in an Argentinian Channel named Sony Entertainment Television.
Can anyone up-load that chapter in which Antonio Scarpaccio got drunk on a wedding? That chapter ends with Antonio saying stupid thing because of the boose, and falling down because of the boose as well.
I remember watching this show when I was younger. Very talented cast with a lot of chemistry.
I think that one of the most underrated parts of the show was this intro. Accompanying Schubert's A major Sonata with picturesque aerial views of Nantucket made for an almost heavenly experience.

I liked this better than any other sitcom back then, but most sucked and all do today. This one wasn't trying to be "cool" or state of the art.

The intro is very nice. Just a little trivia...the music is by Franz Schubert, and I believe it is one of the piano sonatas he had written.

@DirectorDude1194 true, you've got shite like Family Guy which is considered funny. In other words, our society is doomed.

Most of the airborne shots were actually taken off the coast of California except for when you see the town on the island below.
