could someone who can play this piece comfortably, please direct me to the correct fingering for bars 33-39 (1:25 - 1:37). Ive got the sheet music, but there is not much in the way of fingering.
I played this piece for a recital my junior in hs and it was a real pleasure to perform! It is so beautiful!! I believe through the practice of this piece I fell in love with Chopin...what an amazing composer!
The tempo is perfect. If you were to speed it up, not only would you lose the ability to push and pull the tempo in the same way, but you would lose the meaning of the piece as a whole. Faster isn't always better, in fact quite the contrary in my opinion. :)
1) the little phrases that are being played with the grace notes sound similar to trills, do they have a specific name? and
2) in the afore mentioned phrases, the accidental is d#. If it were in harmonic minor, one would expect a g# instead; what is the significance of the sharpened 4th in terms of how this piece sounds (i.e. not in terms of blues)?
@ledzeppelin7510 The little trills are basically a trill done once and the D# is a little chromaticism to spice it up. Though it is the leading tone to E the dominant of A.
I think for more emotion, you don't necessarily have to speed up - but vary the speed a little. In the dramatic moments become a bit faster, then bring the speed back down. Varying dynamics will do that too. I can hear you do that a little, but I'd personally go more. Playing this for first year is excellent though! It does sound lovely. I only got this piece as an extra for fifth grade piano.
Thank you, I'm a one year piano student, and this is the speed I feel is right. My teacher agrees. Racing through a piece can detract from the emotion it deserves.
@jdkrensel You seem to have a great sensibility, I am much older than you, but we are at the same level, and this piece, though simple, has many layers.
I love this waltz of Chopin No.19 very much, and you've played with a delicate touch and you've created a beautiful sound *_* The pieces you have shown in this video doesn't seem this song ... Anyhow I have added in my favourite *******
Your interpretation is really beautiful, you put emotion in your playing. The dynamics are beautiful, although your tempo is a bit irregular, but it is smooth and really I like your version of this piano piece. Thanks for sharing it.
Of all the interpretations of this piece i heard, I like this the most¡¡¡¡¡¡ Congratulations to the pianists. I´m studying this piece and hope to get this good¡¡¡
This piece is marvelous; it has such grace in the melody. I believe it was the first of his pieces that I ever played. It's nostalgic looking back in my old book and seeing all the chords I couldn't reach.
This waltz isn't in any of my Chopin Waltz books Schirmer's or Peter's Editions. I'm surprised, it doesn't sound like Chopin to me, does anyone know if this could possibly be a forgery?
It makes me cry. I think Chopin dedicated this piece to one of his loves. There are no doubts that the woman felt in love for him at the first time he played this to her.
This is my daughter's piano piece and she is listening to it right now and wants to master it based on your interpretation. She will play this on her recital. Great job!
@sizzlingpusit I don't know if your daughter is still working on this piece, but I had to play it for a recital too, and I'd be delighted to help. So if I could give her just one advice, it is not to forget the dynamics, because they lead the whole piece. The first time is supposed to be "piano", then "mezzo forte". It's supposed to be very sad at the beggining, and soft, and then it gets louder, like there is some hope or something, and you gotta put energy in that part.
@sizzlingpusit Actually it's not very hard to play technically, but all is in the dynamics. All the emotion is in it. And a very few people can play it right from that point of view. Anyway, good luck to your daughter! Kiss from France
This is played really well! The rythem is OK, and so are the dynamics! really good work. I play this piece of Chopin too, and i really loooove it! Well done,X

Unless the song mandates a fast tempo (something filled with energy and asks of a vivace tempo or faster!)
But of course, the tempo is just right for this piece :]
