  • Its spelled Borman

  • Eastern has been the very first american airline who bought Airbuses like Airbus A300 early in the eigthies....

  • This brings back a lot of memories!

  • Great footage of the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar.

  • this was from 1978 to 1983 to 1984 this was a number 1 pice of shit late airlines.. that why american and united are better then them..

  • @THEMAMABOY101, YOUR THE PIECE OF SHIT MAMABOY, OR YOUR A SCAB OR BOTH

  • boreman was an ass

  • @XBoeingCapt

ROT IN HELL BOREMAN, YOU ASSHOLE

  • @XBoeingCapt you're so right. EAL management was the worst!

  • @strafrag1 Well they had major problems right from the start of deregulation. From having to deal with NY Air and People Express, to the creation of USAir. Also Delta merging with Western giving them true nation wide coverage further handicapping Eastern. They had high costs, shorter segments than their other major competitors, and made a HUGE investment in new fuel efficient aircraft while fuel prices plummeted. Eastern also was never known for "service" like TWA and United.

  • What year is this commercial from?

  • Ole frank should tell us what they knew concerning flight 401's flight crew and if dead Don Repo's voice is on the CVR!

  • The frist time I flew was on Eastern Airlines in 1978 I was 12 years old

  • I started with Eastern in 1978 and was based in JFK, DCA and BOS. Loved EAL. Thanks for posting this commercial.

  • The Wings of Man

  • I spent 10 years working/flying for EAL. This was one of my favorite ads/jingles. THANK YOU so very much for posting it.

  • I still miss Eastern. :( The first airline I ever flew on, and my family's favorite.

  • Same here - late 60's my family's winter vacation to Fort Lauderdale, FL - my very 1st flight that I'll never forget - on Eastern. Seemed so special!

  • My first commerical airline flight was Eastern;from Cleveland,Ohio to Ft.Myers Beach,Fla.....I was 8 years old.My first flight however was on a Sea Plane in the Muskoka Lakes Canada. How many people can say that? I bet the list is short for first flights.

  • Two generations of my family retiring as captains from Eastern, yes !

  • I miss seeing that livery.

  • I always remember this commercial, due to the fact that my first plane flight ever was a long Eastern flight to Bogota, Colombia to visit my wife-to-be.

  • Something about guys named Frank. They weren't good for EAL.

  • @b727cpt Thats for sure.!

  • I worked at SFO for the last ten years of the company. It was a great company and I was very sad to see it go.

  • Eastern was the only US carrier in it's day, to have actual jet service to several eastern Canadian cities. Every day there was an Eastern jet from YOW to MIA, stopping at BWI on the way. This connected the 2 capital cities and florida too!!! Thank you Eastern!

  • I had the privilege of being a part of the Eastern family and flew on them many times. My father was in management and my mother was a flight attendant. Eastern was a victim of greed. Lorenzo who stripped Eastern of its assets and the unions who would rather down an airline than give wage concessions. Eastern is its people and I am proud to belong to them. We may well see that name again.

  • I never flew EA, but I still have memeries of them as a kid who live near LAX. I rememeber their 757 flying into LAX with 757 writen on the tail, and was shock to see a DC10 in EA livery fly by my house. I remeber back in 1989, in the evening you would see an EA L1011 on approch to runway 25 at LAX.

Eventhought my family flew AA mostly, when I was a kid, I still rememeber old airlines like Pan Am, TWA, EA and PSA.

  • I worked for Eastern at LAX in the 80s,It was a great airline,I sure miss it.

  • The jet in the commercial was an L-1011, right?

  • Yes, that is correct. I flew on them as a kid. The Lockheed Tristar was a great plane that was engineered to the hilt. Eastern was a fantastic airline until deregulation!

  • You know, it's weird. I can't look at an L-1011 without being reminded of Flight 401, even though I know it was one of the few accidents ever involving an L-1011..

  • I heard they were big on the inside, true?

  • Yes. It was like flying in your living room. The configuration was 2 seats an aisle 4 seats another aisle and 2 seats. A little larger than a 767 and a little smaller then the 747.

  • Classic commercial. Great airline.

  • Eastern was a great airline. I first flew with them in 1974 and continued on to 1982 coming off of family vacations. I flew from MCO-RDU. I really liked to fly and didn't have any reason to until July of ths year. I didn't realize how much I missed it. Eastern really showed me how great it was to fly. They were just super.

L-1011's were a great plane, I use to fly them on the MCO-ATL leg of my flight when I got one.

  • he wasnt the greatest but dont blame the col for eal demise it was stricty union stoogees.

  • "We Earn Our Wings Evry Day ! " EASTERN .

  • This is a GREAT jingle, thanks for posting! I wish I can get a hold of the 1987 "We're The One To The Sun" commercials ... :-)

  • Searching for this gingle for years. Thank!

  • Me too, I remember it from when I was a kid.
