@Ndranghetaboy It's the door lock and we see it going down while it's really going up (because the video is reversed). It does this to allow the passengers to more easily leave the vehicle.
Its true what they say... once you've followed the star, you never go back- 1980 300SD 201000 miles, 1981 240D 312000 miles (sold), 2005 ML500 48000 miles, 1999 ML320 160000 miles (sold).
i've got an s-class. and i got into an accident with it. i was waiting at a set of lights and an cubevan came on the wrong side of the road and smashed head-on to my benz. and what happens is, the engine automatically gets forced to the right of the car, the right wheel is made in a way that it seperates to allow the engine to move to the right and that saved my life. any other car, the engine would've ended up on my lap. killin me instantly. owe my life to mercedes. astonishing cars. peace.
With all due respect, how many of you complaining are actual S-Class owners? ..or have even ridden in one? Or have any concept whatsoever of what you are speaking of?
come on, we all know that any car is 100% safe. in this ad they never say that the S-Class will make you invincible or whatever, they just said that Mercedes' team try to prevent their drivers from having accidents, which is true.
i think that Mercedes Benz make pretty safe cars compared to many other car companies.
ps. i don't like Mercedes Benz though, my fav are Cadillacs :D
@Aragon159 I wonder if that's what someone who crashed this car would really see for a split second... do you think that's the car's actual airbag or do you think it's computer animated?
yeah but if u were going at 100mp in both cars and have the same crash even though the mercedes is a good car i will let u have that, but the rolls royce is longer and so the energy would have slowed down (if only a little bit) before it hit the cabin anyway its not all about transeferring energy is about how well u cope after it really
So, by your theory a '75 Lincoln Continental would do better in a 100MPH crash than a Phantom because there is more deformation space? My point is if the impact energy isn't transfered efficiently and the occupants aren't slowed progressively it doesn't mater the size of the vehicle.
...Mercedes accomplishes this with: extremely efficient crumple zones that transfer crash energy around and through the occupant protection cell during deformation, intelligent "multi-stage" airbags, seatbelt pre-tensioners & force limiters and a high-speed network to orchestrate all of these things in "real-time".
HA you forgot to mention that the seats go back to there normal postion with in a second no matter how far away they were and any way the renault espace could do just as good any way ok so they dont have this intelligent multi-stage airbags but it was one of the first cars to have 5 stars o and i dont no what a 1875 lincoln continental only continental i know is the bentley u seen the new bentley it looks realy distinctive
Mercedes Pre-Safe is an active safety system. I am speaking about passive safety systems. And Pre-Safe works in the apprx 7-seconds after ESP & Radar sensors determine a crash is expected but before the impact. Seats, windows, seatbelts, and sunroof are positioned for optimal occupant protection upon impact.
No, actually I realized that you were a "lost cause" and there is no way I can get you to understand vehicle dynamics and proportion of force on a youtube blog. If you get a chance, read up on Newtons first law of motion, then we can talk about occupant protection systems!
it wouldnt be fair to compare a car made 32 years ago to a car that was not only made a mere 2 years ago, but costs 375 thousand dollars... the continental is a good car, but its still a big heavy chucnk of steel, the phantom on the other hand, is a castle in wheels, a castle in the sense of luxury, as well as saftey, dont get me wrong, they're both good cars but there's just no comparison. continental would compare better to elderado and phantom would compare better to a train. (lol)
