  • This song aged very well.

  • Aceyalone is probably my pick for the best west coast lyricist, followed by Ras Kass.

  • yooooooo what happened to this kid he was nice

  • What movie are they showing in this video?

  • @051290ma The Subsitute

  • i bet yall niggas still dont know what he meant when he said "F the po-Lice" cuz i see alot of ppl commentin' on what he meant but none of yall is right at all

just like blacks down south we call the police them 'crackas' b/c that is the nature of the power structure in 'america' no matter if the police is black brown, or yellow they all congregate to uphold the white way of life

  • in Ras Kass's line "F the po-Lice" thats a common terminology amongst blacks to refer to racist ass white officers of the law b/c #1 racist white folks would always utilize their power to degrade & demonize blacks so blacks in return would form our own perceptions in a REACTIONARY frame of thought. we all know that whites can get lice due to the texture of their hair blacks cant & so it was a slick ass metaphor that dissed white po-Lice officers on the sly

  • This dude was a real lyrical rhyme layer.

  • ras could we get a sequal to soul on ice? its def needed in today's society LOL!

  • @sfknns no need for sequels plus this Album was fking expensive

  • @MikeMagician12 , LMAO yeah amazon had people selling soul on ice for as high as 300 something bucks lucky me though, I got it for 25 bucks 30 was the most I was willing to pay for it!

  • @match913

I aint got time now.Onmy way to work. Cant you tell me in detail what he did? why would i want to hear it in a rap when you could give me better details about exactly what he did.

  • @mikeygeneral haha, yo i'm just trying to help your lil young ass out. I told you exactly where to go in the cut to listen and find out a brief explanation. If you want a more in depth explanation you can read which would take up more of your precious time, then do the research yourself lil boy.

  • @match913

Cool, Internet gangster. You guys are on the rise nowadays.

  • @mikeygeneral wow , your a lil sensitive. I didn't even go hard on you and you get sensitive. Every thing is gonna be alright.

  • RE- RELEASE THIS ALBUM !!!!!!!

  • @kinstube Being that Snoop is the creative chairman of Priority Records, you might see it happen sooner than you think. He wants to reissue all of the classic hip hop albums that were released originally on Priority- as well as albums that weren't- such as Kam's "Neva Again".

  • The most underrated rapper of all time next to AZ

  • F the pol ice? Police he means?

  • @royalsteven its PO -lice

  • Oh ok :D

  • Ras-Kass one of the best lyric rappers from the west

  • Miami was definitely more hip hop in the 90s.

  • Hip classic..The Substitute movie put Miami on the map..rite b4 Trick Daddy,Trina and Slip N Slide records did their part. I use 2 have the cd. Good cd. Miss the 90's best hip era in my opinion

  • LOL. Coolio on the hook......

  • "Eff the po-lice"-Ras Kass

  • This is my jam...It should have really blown up!

  • so incredible.

  • Was watching the substitute just havin a nostalgia moment then i heard this joint at the end and i went berserk lol

  • This is what hip hop is missing, a real lyrist (sic)

  • Great movie, and great cut! This is my shit and was my shit since the movie came out! I would rewind thedamn movie credits al the time lol..90s muzik all the way!!

  • probably the 100th time i listened this song! loved it from the first time i heard it at the acknowledgements for the movie the substitute in 97! thats when you know a song is the shit when you like it from the first time you hear it!

  • i'm still an issue cause i'm on a roll like toilet tissue

  • one of my favorite rappers. Putting him and Coolio together in a video, is like a double orgasm. Much love for the Westcoast.

  • Illmatic was not my fav nas album cause i didnt like all the beats that album had, i thought it was writting had better beats and lirycs.I mean why you ppl always mention illmatic what bout az do or die killah priest heavy mental keith murray enigma redman canibus lord finesse kool g rap. All these other mc's have way better albums then illmatic imo.

  • i get tired of niggas saying " this album was dope but had weak beats" fuck this album was a masterpiece.Everthing from the lirycs to the beats is great, by far the best hip hop album ever made. I just think ppl find it hard to except soul on ice was a masterpiece So they rather pick illmatic or 36 chambers as better albums, but why ??? I didn even like the beats on 36 chambers. Wutangs other albums were better imo and illmatic was a great album but nas is not better then ras kass plus

  • @Streetztalkin1 disagree about 36 had weak beats everyone in the game jaked those beats. Everything else is on point.

  • @Coltrane360 i didn like 36 chambers much it had too many damn skips.Im not sayin it was a bad album, it had classic songs ofcourse but the skips and some of the beats imo were weak

  • This really should be the Miami Heat intro.

  • @TheFundraiser504 yes it should be if they knew better they'd do better!! ha ha

  • @Orlando2Vegas This is TheFundraiser504, closed that account and made this one. Anyways after how Chris Bosh posterized D.J. White, I think he's letting everybody know what type of life it's going to be this season.

  • just watched Netflix: The Substitute and Ras Kass was at the end in Miami Life, Funny, I've never heard of him, brought me here, Talent that man.

  • @duaneafields Same here man so I watched the vid....I like that beat makes me wann cruise the Miami strip with the top down lol

  • thats the one thing about soundtracks...cant put fake ass garbage on soundtracks.....i wish they would remake this movie with less plot holes and improved storyline......really only tom berenger and marc anthony did good in this movie.......whats funny all those kids in the movie actually went to north miami high...they were all in summer school....lmao

  • wit coolio as a camieo killed dis shyt west coast shit

  • VERY UNDERRATED,LOVE HIS SHIT!

  • man im frum L.A but got love fa miami all day cant even explain dis fuckin classic you dont think dis go hard yur not a true rapp are hip hop fan period

  • @habenod hes not dead lol

  • lovin the beat

  • Classic Material!!

  • what did he say about unprotected sex with oprah? at 2:50

  • @rharuckus he says something bout drug dealers slangin takin the easy way out........What the world needs is less free cheese

More white collar J-O-B's, these ghetto MP's

stretchin fools on the block for crack rock

But part of power brokers is gettin over like unprotected sex with Oprah

  • Rass Kass was actually pretty good, but Game knocked that nigga the fuck out LMFAO!!!!

  • You know you're a superb rapper when the song sells itself without a video. I've been a Ras Kass student (fan) since 1998 and listen to this song over and over but this is the first time I've seen the video. Ras is TRULY talented and timeless.

  • Lebron's theme.

  • @lastdragon55

    No, don't be a faggot.

  • dam i love this shit it takes me back to ninth grade

  • choon

  • Soul on ice is a better debut album......People wont say so cause ras is a west coast emcee.

  • Ogólnie nie lubię Ras Kass-a, ale ten numer jest zaj....i mam z nim dużo dobrych wspomnień. PeaceYo.

  • such a fucking good track. lol @ coolio on the keyboard

  • dus guy is underated he sound like a east coast nigga but his from the west coast and him and jayz have almost the same style back in the 90s!!

  • I agree he is a real dope mc .He can spit rhymes very well and he sounds like he from the east coast but he is from Carson,California. He has some very creative metaphors . "I walk these streets with more heat than Alonzo Mourning"

  • Ras Kass,Chino XL are in my top ten best rappers...

  • Walk these streets with more heat than alonzo mourning

  • I mean I think Cube's No Vaseline is 1 of the hardest disses ever! Maybe I'm just not into Common's style that much, but I like Cube's raps more. I'm more into that hardcore West coastish..

  • now i see why the west coast was pissed because of ppl like Common Sense and how they got overlooked like this....a movie based in miami gettin dudes from cali to rap about the city.....where as in new jersey drive.....it was nothin but newark and nyc rappers on that great soundtrack

  • Common Sense? Haha, he was nobody to me back then. I even thought Ras was from Miami when I heard this, but liked it any way

  • listen to I used to love H.E.R. and The Bitch in Yoo and then listen to mack 10's debut album and the bow down album......common was definitely somebody back in the mid 90's

  • Heard all that already & don't see how it proves he was somebody, but I'm sure he was to somebody. Just not to me & MAC-10 was more known in my area

  • are you from san jose??? u should know how common put the breaks on ice cube's rapping career after he murked him in '97.....even though cube was already slippin...common put oil on the road and made cube slide right off the cliff

  • Yeah, but I got LOL at your comment. You must be a common fan

  • no not really.....but ask any real rap fan....common has some real influential music....I used to love H.E.R. is top ten and the bitch in yoo is a top ten diss song

  • I am a real rap fan & know plenty that would disagree, but I'll agree common has influence. Bitch In Yoo is a top 10 diss song to who?

  • bitch in yoo was a diss to ice cube and westside connection, i thought you were a fan, Grafted ass nigga, I see through your Glass Shield yo

    I'm a have ta wreck a Ho'shea

I heard a ho say you her favorite rapper

(So what) so I had to slap her, ugn

And violate you, a Muslim drinking brew

    Your nigga ain't no Mack 10, he's a 22

West Hoo Bangin, you ain't banging shit but the table And the Circle Madd, ain't got no choice but to fight Ain't none of y'all muthafukas got a chance on the mic

  • Heard all that like I said. Can't think of 10 dis' songs off of my dome, so maybe you're right about it being in the top 10 some where. Cube's no vaseline go harder

  • @SANxJONERO to me

  • outkast was on new jersey drive too. there is a video for benz and beamers

  • unprotected sex with oprah rofl

  • classic

  • zajebisty utwór, kawałek r.....la xD tyle czasu szukałem go.. zasłyszany na filmie :)

  • And as for people who say Jay-Z is the best ever need to know the ledge and jump like jeriamo lol.

All Jay-Z did was steal every good mc's lyrics and converted them around to his own. so Basically JAY-Z is a BITTER and UNORIGINAL piece of garbage. Same with that Swizz Beats fool...That new track on the level or whatever...swizz just stole that beat from the 70's and changed the pitch around and sold it for prob 100k. IM SICK OF U UNORIGINAL PIECES OF GARBAGE RAP ..WHERE HIPHOP?

  • I slept on Jay-z's entire career after Reasonable Doubt. He's done a good job of biting Biggie, Big L, BDK, Rakim, and Masta Ace

  • 3. Ras Kass, Ok its fkd up cause some people never even heard of Ras. And he also is incredible talent. His content lyrically back then( i dont know how he is these days) was insane. HE IS THE BEST EVER ON THE WEST...sorry snoop and dre

  • thats my opinion too

Ras the best on the west

  • And Realize people, everyone has their own opinion.

    1. RAKIM - GOD MC - He was first MC to UPLIFT people(KRS-ONE at the time had a album called Criminal Minded so no one was doing it like Ra) HE is the GOD mc even though some cats out there are up there with him.

    2. I have to say Canibus im sorry. This guy is so lyrically gifted and informed its ridiculous. You would have to study geometry, history, and all kinds of stuff to be on his level. Mainstream crucified his career which is bs

  • Im white male 24 yrs old...years ago I would listen but I didn't HEAR lyrical content from real Mc's. Listening to Ras Kass both albums, Soul on Ice and Rassassation. He HAS to be in top 10 or even top 5 of all time.

  • def one of my favs back when it dropped. I like when he said " I got juice freshly squeezed" thats tight shit from a old school brother. peace.

  • why is he rapping about miami

  • @calibar38 cuz its a soundtrack song for the substitute....the movie clips throughout the song....it was based in miami

  • this was my shit, been trying to find this shit for years.

  • Classic beat period...

  • Lyrically...Ras Kass Soul On Ice & Nas Illmatic Lyrically are about NECK n NECK. Have you ever Heard Soul On Ice??? Tracks like Nature of the Threat??? Ras Kas Drops CRAZY KNOWLEDGE!!!, Sonset where he answers East Coast Niggas on some BATTLE shit letting who eva out there KNOW..i'll Battle you and destroy you...DEFINATLEY DOWNLOAD IT on iTUNES... YOU'LL DEFINATLEY GET YOUR MONEYS WORTH.. RAS KASS IS A GREAT ARTIST & A DEEP THINKER!!!

  • @AsiaticBlackman7 lyrically maybe their close, but kass' flow on soul on ice, and the production he used just doesnt come close to illmatic...

  • @AsiaticBlackman7 NaS is my favorite artist period! However, you are correct. "Soul On Ice" is close to Illmatic, but not quite. There is not a better song than "N.Y. State of Mind."

  • @DOUBLEOTA - Ordo Abchao " Order out of Chaos" and " Nature of the Threat" Both smoke out Ny State of Mind! Nuff Said ! Nas sold out a long time ago but Ras Kass still gets that Underground respect on Both Coasts !!!!

  • @Wangtime1 Never!!!!! Ras is nice son, but in my opinion "Illmatic" has never been topped. Maybe Rakim's "Paid In Full". And who did Nas sell out to? Nas will never go platinum again because he has not sold out.

  • @DOUBLEOTA Nas barely gets any underground respect cause he sold out the day he Signed with Jay Z (For his new Albums, only old shyt)! I'm not denying Nas's Skill cause I used to listen to him as well but stopped after "God's Son"! Did Ras Kass ever go Platinum? Maybe on Sould on Ice..... But I don't think he ever went past Gold after Sould On Ice Album. I'm not talking about ILLMATIC the whole Album I was talking about NY State of Mind vs Order out of Chaos and Nature of the Threat!

  • @Wangtime1 I respect your opinion. However, it's tough for me to get involved in the whole "sellout" argument. I don't know the ins and outs of that situation. NaS was on Columbia, that label is horrible! Also, go YOU TUBE "Failure" by Lupe Fiasco. IT KILLS "Order Out of Chaos" & "Nature of The Threat" in my opinion. Peace & love.

  • @DOUBLEOTA Much Respect to you Bro! I heard Failure before by Lupe! He is a little too comercial for me but I have Respect for Chi-town no doubt.

Jedi Mind Tricks ft. RA the Rugged Man - Uncommon Valor (w/lyrics) YouTube that song! Over 2 million hits and counting! Its kicking Knowledge about the Vietnam War and RA gets Sick on the second verse, no one I've heard has ripped a beat harder than on this track! Check it out! Peace

  • @AsiaticBlackman7 Exactly I was callin Soul on Ice the West Coast's " ILLMATIC" over 10 years go! Back when people used to buy CDs at record stores on release dates and listen to them while chillin out smokin in their whips!

  • @AsiaticBlackman7 i knew someone would say that and i whole-heartedly agree

soul on ice = west coast illmatic

  • Ain't nobody servin Hiero.

  • hiero's bay area. you ask if i'm from the west coast? do like souls of mischief and make your mind up.

  • "Soul On Ice" my favorite album of all time

  • listen to this song when you at the beach with fly honies

  • This song is gonna bang foreva, West Coast Underground King! Come back Rass, we need you with Raw beats like this.

  • yo miami life what the fuc% i s right you gat the fuckin trick you scud what the fuck you got da scud trick this you fuckin right tight -----

  • RASSYYYYY.....still representing on the underground.

  • Ras Kass, the most underrated Rapper ever....

  • Yo u hit it on the head Son!

  • you forgot about E-RULE!

  • @curtisb3000 these cats don't know shit about e-rule.

  • yeah right. he is rated right where he needs to be. as a dope lyricist not the best. I heard cats around the way with no deal spit just as nice. ppl who have been listening know rass could of been dope but he made bad moves with bad ppl. love the cd but not no where close to top 10 on my very long list. just my opinion though peace.

  • Yeah, that's the foul shit about being in the business. I could say the same thing about Shyheim. Shyheim could've been something big. He had the biggest upper hand from just being as young as he was with the skills he had but made bad choices. And kicked it wit da wrong heads. Being in this business really does require having a business mind. Having tight flow is a plus, but having tight flow and good business strategy will help you be number one. To Surpass these bitch niggaz in the game now.

  • hey professor. if he's no where close to your top 10 then why the hell are you youtubing this video and dropping lectures?

  • @TomSupreme Right

  • @TomSupreme id say az is...but i love raskass 90's work!

  • I LOVE this song. Listen to it about 8 times a day. It's hard to understand what he's saying though. He uses so many names, media items, that I have no idea what dude is talking about lol

  • TOWNERS

  • When he says "I'll put my foot so deep in your ass the water in my knee will quench your thirst" , what exactly does he mean?

  • It means he'll get in ur ass.

  • You know how sometimes athletes have to get thier knee drained?? i think its that or either got it from the movie "Major Payne"

  • @BHayley thats definitely a line from major payne which came out about a year ago from when this movie did so at the time it was relevant but now most of you guys are clueless about what that references

  • Nice song, did some people seriously ignore Ras just because of this song's title referring to the hometown of whack groups like 2 Live Crew, making them think Ras himself is also from there?

  • How is 2 Live Crew wack?

They contributed alot to hip hop, one being the first (and only) rap group to set a legal precedent by challenging, in the Fla. supreme court, laws that infringed upon the first amendment rights of musicians (the Broward County obscenity ordinance which banned the sale of their music and barred them from performing there). They also brought Miami bass and club music to the forefront of the industry in a time when hip hop was primarily East or West coast.

  • I think they live too much off the controversy and not because of the music. I appreciate their challenge against the law but their music didn't take much talent, they might have a good song here and there like "Coolin" but other than that it was just "this bitch sucked my dick" with no sign of any changes. Too Short pulled off being a mostly one dimensional rapper talking about sex most of his albums. Even he became outdated by the time he retired but at least he's more entertaining than 2 Live

  • The most underrated MC ever

  • Miami Life... it aint nuttin nice in Overtown but its LOVELY on the Beach - u jus gotta cross da bridge

  • saafir's dope too. remember golden state, ras, xzibit and saafir. That album would've been nasty. saafir and ras did another song together on the street fighter soundtrack with ahmad called comwidditt. ras drops venom.

  • Unofficially it did drop. Look for Saafir's limited edition album "One of the Hardest." Material he recorded from 1997-2002, including several Golden State Warriors tracks.

  • Comment removed

  • whoever made this beat is a genius.....and ras's lyrcis speek for themselves, one of the greatest

  • couldn't have said it better myself

  • michrophone michale corleone

  • Post the lyrics

  • LOVE THIS SONG!

  • ...my uncle and my aunt (they're brother & sister)

    are in this video...RANDOMM!

  • This beat is so ill, one of the best. Rass Kass is one of the best lyricists and so underrated, stiill.

  • this shit is nice n smooth, but Nas is the GOAT , and aint shit fuckn wit Illmatic!

  • soul on ice kills illmatic, you must be a youngster trying to sound like you know whats up. stay silent please, you're making a fool of yourself. someone told you wrong.

  • They both crazy dope hip hop, just leave it alone Ras Kass and Nasir are both dope, check out the 94 Wake up show anthem back when they both first came out. They were both nuts and shrunk every other mc on the song including saafir from souls of mischief. Ya'll need to just chill and enjoy, like Fear of Black Man's dick is everything Black steel in moment of chaos was

  • that's all well and good bro but saafir the saucy nomad is from the hobo junction.

  • I know that but he did so many joints with SOM that I thought he was part of the group too. My bad. Is that coolio in the video?
