Its wonderful how a bassist of the skill and ability and position of Rob Trujillo, the Bassist of the biggest Heavy Metal Band in the history, is so humble and accepts Cliff as much much greater than him, and feels that yes, he has to fit in HIS shoes, that he is filling in for him, that he has to live up to his expectations. He also played classical piano and he was learning to play guitar before he died. When he was younger he wanted to play the guitar and his dad went out and got him a 2nd guitar, it was a big guitar and it was the only one his dad could find. Turned out it wasn't a guitar, it was a bass guitar and the rest is history.

My first concert was metallica suicidal tendencies & fight, But seeing rob back in suicidal opening for metallica that whole show was the most awesome show ever, (and also was the show that prompted laws changing in my state limiting concerts decibel levels (boo ) ) but i remember suicidal was totally awesome the were all jumping around stage hulking and acting insane just like rob does it was the best show ever.

Cliff didn't deserve to be with Metallica. His riffs were either like normal guitar riffs but more heavy and grungy or super brutal "normal" bass riffs but everyone pays attention to his solos. His riffs weren't meant to be such a background thing like Metallica made them, he should have been louder in many songs.

This made me cry, I am a huge Metallica fan, probably one of the biggest in the world! I am a passionate fan of Kirk but Cliff really was talented, anesthesia is the BEST!! Newsted was ok, he played a great solo on the Live shit box set and their Justice album blew us all away, but I still think Rob has a solid sound. Rob is really good! I went to the Death Magnetic tour this year and when they played Orion that was the best> RIP Cliff Burton our hearts are with you!!

I was always confused as to why people hated all the albums after justice for all. Metallica is artistic, and just doing the same thing over and over again is stale and boring. Look at nickleback. I was always confused as to why people hated all the albums after justice for all. Metallica is artistic, and just doing the same thing over and over again is stale and boring. Look at nickleback. All their shit is the same and it sucks. Nobody gives the new stuff a chance because it isn't "heavy." There is more to metallica then just "heavy." Its emotional, real, full-hearted music that is more then just "I wanna kill something." Its true music, music that inspires emotion.

@hugopereira14 I thought St. Anger was awesome. Sure, the production value wasn't up to par, but if you can find your way through the roughness, you find their most emotional album to date. St. Anger is wild, unpredictable and bashes and screams in the face of musical norms. Although, I miss Kirk's solos in that album =(

. . . Now that I've just listened to it again I can tell you're right. I knew it was a long shot for them to be buddies with Mike Gordon I couldn't believe my ears the first time I listened to this, I just thought that maybe it was possible since all 3 of those dudes are totally badass bassists, albeit Mike G is in a pretty different genre. Bordin makes 100% more sense, thanks for droppin' some knowledge on me.

the only metallica albums I really like are the ones cliff played on. The only exception being "and justice for all" that one's not too bad. but cliff was the man. plus he always repped Misfits shirts

Imagine how different things would have been for 'tallica if Cliff was alive today? 'Justice and 'Black album may have been completely different, maybe even heavier!!! If Cliff was around when 'Load' and 'ReLoad' were going on I think he would of said "Fuck this weak ass shit" and walked
