If the demo is anything to go by, Hawx 2 will be terrible. For example, one of their advertised features is take of and landing, well, you don't land, you get into position and almost land, and then there is a cutscene of a landing. Not to mention the complete lack of any sort of feeling about shooting, flying or anything you do. I can only hope this isn't the case in the full game, but as of now, I just wont be buying it. HAWX sucks. The story sucked, the assist off view is really hard to fly the plane with the constantly changing camera angle. The ERS is just useless, except for the few missions where you have to use it, I never found it useful dogfights.
The lack of physics used makes for one disappointing game play. Take the F-16 in game. If you are not in the "assistance mode" you do not stall. Granted you do not get to do the sick little spins in air to gain the advantage on you opponent, but you never loose dramatic or stalling air speeds. Turn the assistance on and your aircraft can fall out of the sky if you do not recover from the stalls
If you are going to incorporate aircraft that was designed in the 1970's maybe do a little bit more research....there is no thrust vectoring on the F-16's, sorry.
Point the nose straight up and do not add any power and your air speed stays the same......WTF? Then when you try to make those high G turns we dont "red/black" out?
Graphics only get a game so far. I like the use of sat imaging for the ground, and it did not seem to drag on the system, however you don't really get to admire the graphics as you are spinning and stalling too much. Take a good look at the beginning and end of the missions as that is where you get the most enjoyment out of the graphics.
I understand it is built more as a combat sim than a flight sim, however you start in the sky. No takeoff, no landing, no refueling, which is sad as these can be the most exciting things to do while you are flying.
Lastly, being a combat sim allows for you to be hit many times by missiles. You can evade the missiles easily in game which adds to survivability, however there is a point where being hit by a certain number of missiles should just lead you to being shot down, I figure one missile that is fired at your plane should send you falling from the sky.
By putting in a little bit more time in r&d and game play, I can see this game having some potential. Needs more work though.

they do, check out DCS: black Shark. its based on the single seat Russian helecopter. highly realistic and i heard they are coming out with an apache version to.
As for realism: it's a game with flight simulator handling (for the most part), but video game characteristics, graphics are good without needing too high end of a computer.

Playing the PC demo. It is a lot a fun. Ace combat type game, lots of action. Smooth gameplay, with the added twist of a third person, kind of a side view to watch your tricks/bank tighter. Hey, at least someone out there made a new dogfighting game. Not many arcade style ones out there, where anyone can grab the stick and fly like this one. And have a good time.

Wrong. The you don't lose altitude in the cobra, as a matter of fact you gain 90-120 degree. The kulbit not the "kubit" is where you loop without thrust vectoring and you flip really quickly... There is also a cobra flip where you gain a lot of altitude and then loop.

I do because I love owning people because I know advanced tricks like tailslides that Ive learned from sims and I use it on games like Ace Combat.

the video is wrong when he says the F-22 would be an X-22, because the X-22's first flight was March 17 1966 and was called Belle Aerospace Textron X-22a, and it provided long term test bed for VTOL research.

no the X planes don't have anything to do with the number like the F-22 or the F-18 for example, the X-53 is a prototype of the F-18 Hornet.

Nope. The cobra is a 90 degree short stall which then leads to a loss in altitude. The flip maneuver hes talking about is called the kubit.

Wrong. The you don't lose altitude in the cobra, as a matter of fact you gain 90-120 degree. The kulbit not the "kubit" is where you loop without thrust vectoring and you flip really quickly... There is also a cobra flip where you gain a lot of altitude and then loop.

A Review is done when the game is actually released, it is reviewed by independant websites and gamers, and a final verdict is given about the quality of the game. This video is more or less a developer's walkthrough, a preview.
