This bluff is not about making it look like a value bet or what, but to make a player ponder over that much money only to see that Tom Dwan actually have a Jack. A fold is understandable, as Tom Dwan has been known to make his monster hands look like a bluff.

I'm surprised that Dwan can get so many players to lay down hands like this given his super-aggressive reputation. If it's a somewhat tight player, I can see taking time to consider a tricky AA slowplay or JX. But Durr seems to make this kind of play fairly often.

First off Dwan raised preflop 10k representing AK,AQ or even a high pair like KK, then checks the flop(which would make me think KK or 10-10 because of the Ace) trying to trap or make his opponent bet into it. Then as the 2nd J comes out he tries to put a measly 14k into a 20k+ pot which is a weak bet(he would check again IF he had the J to set up a better trap)

Dwan is a super aggressive player and his range is way broader then that. It's all too likely you're just another donk who doesn't know any of the theory and is only pro as long as he can see all the cards. Don't worry though, poker sites are rigged, jacks are unplayable, and straights should be worth more then a flush since they are more rare.

@idalgleish87 dwan is always betting behind with an ace to take advantage of his reputation...he only checks behind because he has an OESD and does not want to get check-raised by Tran, which he could well do with AT+. He is also betting out 99 because an A could so easily have hit tran, so they could get it all in there, also action could be killed on the turn if a K/Q comes up as this makes straight draws easier. On the turn Dwan would bet both his missed draw and any J..
therefore on the river dwan rarely has an ace, so tran is either ahead or behind...against a LAG opponent like this I think I have to call....I had almost exactly the same situation when I had J8 on a A3JJJ board and played it exactly like Dwan,admittidly that was on a table of fish and I got paid. IMO it's not a terrible fold at all, it's a tough spot but by categorising your opponents I think it's a call.
He staked Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi also in the Main Event (this is however just speculation). If anyone is looking for a free 50 $ starting capital, check Pokerfrik it worked well for me :)
Bad fold, if Tom had Quads he would have been happy to lose to quads and say "bad beat". You usually can't put opponents on runner quads.
If Tom had ANY ace, the kicker just went in the muck so they'd split (most common scenario).
If Tom had a 9 or pocket 9s he'd rape him so bad.
You can't put Tom on a bluff there, way too dangerous, but you certainly know he's probably just one bit under you most likely pocket 9s. And since you're playing Durrr, its 3x less likely I'd fold ANY full house.
@AvengerXP Why would Dwan bet twice the pot with the 9. He couldnt get called by worse. So we can rule Dwan having the 9. You said yourself i quote, "You can't put Tom on a bluff there, way too dangerous" . Okay, so we are ruling the bluff out too. So that leaves only the ace for a split pot or the Jack. Either way Tran is risking calling his remaing 100k to win 25k. So hes getting 4-1 i think, and as he makes the call, he is praying that its a split pot. Its a tournament aswell i think.

He checks the flop, check calls the turn, and checks the river with a full house. Of course Dwan is going to represent the ace. Tran clarly over thought it and got himself in a pickle

This bluff is not about making it look like a value bet or what, but to make a player ponder over that much money only to see that Tom Dwan actually have a Jack. A fold is understandable, as Tom Dwan has been known to make his monster hands look like a bluff.

I'm surprised that Dwan can get so many players to lay down hands like this given his super-aggressive reputation. If it's a somewhat tight player, I can see taking time to consider a tricky AA slowplay or JX. But Durr seems to make this kind of play fairly often.

I could have read that bluff from across the room lol. guy bets 14k on turn after checking flop and then overbets 100k into a 50k pot, easy snap call decision especially being 5 handed.

@JeeRaph Hmm lets see I've been playing poker for about 7 years now so I wouldn't have any idea what I'm talking about would I? First off Dwan raised preflop 10k representing AK,AQ or even a high pair like KK, then checks the flop(which would make me think KK or 10-10 because of the Ace) trying to trap or make his opponent bet into it. Then as the 2nd J comes out he tries to put a measly 14k into a 20k+ pot which is a weak bet(he would check again IF he had the J to set up a better trap)

@JeeRaph And to elaborate further, notice how Dwan bet the whole time with his right hand then on the river he clumsily uses both hands, as he knocks some other chips over, to push in? a tell maybe? Anyway, the most Dwan could have had was an Ace which would have meant a chop pot. But like I said raising preflop represents a strong hand or setting up a bluff, no way he had a J. Again, easy snap call when he over-bets river, and if given more thought a 3-bet on the river would've made Dwan fold

Dwan is a super aggressive player and his range is way broader then that. It's all too likely you're just another donk who doesn't know any of the theory and is only pro as long as he can see all the cards. Don't worry though, poker sites are rigged, jacks are unplayable, and straights should be worth more then a flush since they are more rare.

Dwan has another ace here 90% of the time, poket nines 5% of the time, a bluff 4% of the time and another jack 1% of the time, hence a terrible fold.
60% of the time these statss are right every time by the way.

@idalgleish87 dwan is always betting behind with an ace to take advantage of his reputation...he only checks behind because he has an OESD and does not want to get check-raised by Tran, which he could well do with AT+. He is also betting out 99 because an A could so easily have hit tran, so they could get it all in there, also action could be killed on the turn if a K/Q comes up as this makes straight draws easier. therefore on the river dwan rarely has an ace, so tran is either ahead or behind...against a LAG opponent like this I think I have to call....I had almost exactly the same situation when I had J8 on a A3JJJ board and played it exactly like Dwan,admittidly that was on a table of fish and I got paid. IMO it's not a terrible fold at all, it's a tough spot but by categorising your opponents I think it's a call.

Bad fold, if Tom had Quads he would have been happy to lose to quads and say "bad beat". You usually can't put opponents on runner quads.
If Tom had ANY ace, the kicker just went in the muck so they'd split (most common scenario).
If Tom had a 9 or pocket 9s he'd rape him so bad.
You can't put Tom on a bluff there, way too dangerous, but you certainly know he's probably just one bit under you most likely pocket 9s. And since you're playing Durrr, its 3x less likely I'd fold ANY full house.

@AvengerXP Why would Dwan bet twice the pot with the 9. He couldnt get called by worse. So we can rule Dwan having the 9. You said yourself i quote, "You can't put Tom on a bluff there, way too dangerous" . Okay, so we are ruling the bluff out too. So that leaves only the ace for a split pot or the Jack. Either way Tran is risking calling his remaing 100k to win 25k. So hes getting 4-1 i think, and as he makes the call, he is praying that its a split pot. Its a tournament aswell i think.

@thettruest No, i wish, just a fan. But the way Tran played the hand, he had to call on the river, regardless of the number of times Dwan is bluffing there. He checks the flop, check calls the turn, and checks the river with a full house. Of course Dwan is going to represent the ace. Tran clarly over thought it and got himself in a pickle
