Yeah, Sunset Junque is one of my all-time favourite places :D I've lived near Kalamazoo for a while and spent countless weekends wandering that place with my camera. :D
I like how I get to see how you live your life some days, but I'm still afraid because I've seen how many people say such crazy things about what they are going to do to you. And if nothing alts I want to know that you will be safe. I've only seen up till this one so all i know is that you know some karate but if you haven't told other people about anything alts then it would help me sleep better at night knowing that people won't try anything stupid with you. (best wishes 155shield)
I've been to Lake Michigan when I was 14 in July of 1994. I love road trips and antiquing! My longest road trip was when I drove to Mesa, Arizona in September of 2006. Carthage, MO. Idaho Springs, CO. and Stillwater, MN. have some of my favorite shops.
If they ever wanted to do a faithful remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, this place would be an ideal location for exterior shots. Man, that is very creepy.
If you ever visit Seattle, go down to Pike's Place Market and make sure to take a trip down to the below-ground shops. They literally are situated under the ocean with only a cement barrier between you and the sea. And the stuff in those shops is much like what this shop had: weird old memorabilia, kitsch, and questionable art. It's definitely worth the trip, if only just for the claustrophobia of the whole experience.
LOL at the little demon statue @ 4:09, and the Speed Limit sign @ 5:46. Honestly, some of the stuff appears to have been gleaned through dumpster diving. Interesting vid, though.
Honey, seriously, wait until you join the workforce and have a partner, then with the combined income of two and NO rugrats, you can then let someone else do the "Antiquing" and just buy it at auction.
BTW - enjoyed seeing the cute boy that really does exist under the make-up.
One plaintive robin calling out to its mate in the middle of all the discards.
Is there a swimming beach in Saugatuck, I realize that it was still early in the season but I was wondering what the water temperature gets up to during the height of the summer.
I have those things in my backyard out in the woods. I think they are for a fireplace or stove or something. Obviously they are supposed to be indoors in an indoor fireplace, not in the woods.
LOL Give it a shot. Some people sit and listen to TheAmazingAtheist for that long, and he's not even that... listenable. He's more of an ass than anything.
@ZJemptv a while back, youtube created a rule that said that video uploads can only be ten minutes long, but that people who had registered accounts before this rule was created could still upload videos as long as they wanted to.
That was awesome. I love early Americana stuff. It was arranged and displayed just right, to accentuate the air of nostalgia. You used to be able to find places like this all over the south, on the U.S. routes and some major State routes. I haven't been up in that area of Michigan in about 6 years, might have to take a road trip.
Wow, If you were there last Friday, we might have bumped into each other. Saugatuck is a nice community, and living here in Kalamazoo, I go a few times a year. I have, however, never heard of this Sunset Junque Shop. Whereabouts is it?
dude, im surprised a 6' 9" guy with a machete didn't come own horrifically kill you. When you see a metal chair with leaves covering it you have to be a little concerned. lol.
How is that even a store? I don't want to be insulting but they should have changed that place into a horror museum a long time ago. At every turn in my head was "No! Zj! Don't go in there!"
Uh, wow... I live in Grand Rapids... very close to Saugatuck :) That's where I've been getting my tattoo work done... very nice shop there.
Anyway, I love Saugatuck.... always good to see people from elsewhere coming to enjoy the sights :) Have you ever visited Mackinac Island (or whatever variation on the spelling people choose)? It's a wonderful place that allows no motorized vehicles, so I love it :)
The lake is so beautiful.

I'm pretty sure I've seen this place before. Now, when was that? Oh, yeah. When I was an extra in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

That shop is just creepy as hell. I liked the sea/ocean shot at the end. I don't live near anything like that, so it's nice to see.
And also.. I could! I could bear to listen to you for two hours! Considering that's what I've been doing for the last few hours..

The outside of that junk shop reminds me of some of the areas in Fallout 3.

please dont hate me for this, but who buys this stuff?
The outside footage looked more like an abandon plot of land which is misused as a junkyard by everyone than a selling place.

Cool video. The freaky country antique shop was the best. If the Adams Family ran an antique store, that would be it.

Actually, you can still find stuff like this in the South. Also, more weird-ass folk art/yard art than you can shake a stick at.
The scary part is I would have loved some ofd those old glass jars to put in my windows, being a Southern eccentric myself.

I'm starting to remember friday the 13th the TV series.
We have Black Squirles in NY/Westchester county, and red ones as well. I call them Ginger Snaps.
But awesome, it was like all the beauty of a slide show without the god awful pain of watching a slide show.
I loved the video, thanks ZJ!
