  • The Pixies turned me onto college radio way back then. Now it's the only kind of station I listen to. Arbitron, Clear Channel, you suck!

  • 13 people turned out to be real smart alecs

  • Adikta a ezta kanziOn!

  • 12 people doesn't make no' sense.

  • 1:10 keeping low doesn't make no-SENSE!!!!!

Man...I'm in love with the Pixies :D

  • Best outro ever! Always gets me choked up for some reason.

  • OH man, so cool to hear this awesome track after so long and the video to go with it in perfect sound, man this came out during the alternative/grunge explosion and that whole sound was so damn perfect, love the guitars on this one, I heard they hardly play it live.

  • Little kids love this song! Beats Raffi or the Teletubbies...

  • My favorite song for my OCD!

  • seeing them tonight at the music box in la.... i pray they play this!

  • I told my friends : if you love me, I want this song to be played in the chuch for my funerals. They said "ok, we'll tell the priest". But how will I check ?

  • @MrAlec723 Pretend to die and see whether they do it or not. You just need the same serum that Juliet drank to convince people that she had died. Or that could all end up going horribly wrong... but everything ended well for Romeo and Juliet at least.

  • PIXIES!!!!!!!!!!

  • AMAZING FOR ALL THE TIMES !!!!!

  • 11 trolls like this song :D

  • Long live the Pixies.

  • @2666ification what rude -_-

  • PIXIES ROCKS!!!!!!

  • How many bands can literally be said to have had a completely flawless career?

  • @Darkiver Especially considering they released 5 cds of material.

  • if they ever gonna come to my country I will take a week unpaid leave for the pre and post concert!

  • hard to believe it's been 20 years. Still sounds fresh

  • Oh man. I remember my dad had a copy of "Trompe Le Monde" on cassette in his car at all times and we'd listen to it on every road trip. This song was always my favorite when I was little and makes me so glad that my parents weren't tools in retrospect (at least not complete ones anyways haha).

  • @zebraattack brilliant wat year did ye used to listen to it?"Trompe Le Monde is a fucking brilliant album

  • This album was released one year ago today!

  • @Dicklaurent74 One year of 7305 days. /geek

  • @Dicklaurent74

No . . . this album was released about 20 years or so.

  • @Dicklaurent74 That's what I meant to say... 20 years ago today

  • That ending is surreal...

  • I feel like the explosion of great music we had in the 90s was a fuse that was lit by the pixies, this era of music i think took everyone by surprise

  • @madstylesnz i agree with that big time frank black/kim,joey and david set the whole thing in motion, IE nirvana, radiohead, smashing pumkings too name but a few

  • @ppppccs Agreed,I also hate fucking...threw up a little,U2!

  • @ppppccs As a side note I remember now that Ween did do a song called,"I hate the Smiths and Steven Morrisey",but really I think it was their attempt at a Smiths style song, not a genuine we hate the Smith's thing, more an ironic we don't like anything,we're just like the Smiths.

  • @ppppccs I don't know if they did,but I am sure even if they did it would have been a type of tribute,Ween loves all real musicians and song writers and the few Smiths/Morrisey songs I know are pretty good,Ween only even mentions those they love and respect in some way.

  • @ppppccs Dude I don't know what the hell you're talking about!?! I was just trying to tell you that the lyric was,"he thought big and they called it a phallic".You seem really upset I hope you are okay.No offense was intended(hell I thought I was trying to help).Anyway if your feeling down put on Ween's Quebec,it always gets me through the shit in this world.

  • @ppppccs Its the second one

  • +0p$#!+

  • the pixies were hipster before it wasn't cool to be hipster

  • Early 80's for me was "Gang of Four", "Pere Ubu" and "Can" (just to name a few). Peace.

  • ooo 90sss ...

  • I sang this as "little lightbulb" as a kid. :3

  • @Kairanitar i love it!!!

  • Awesome clip, like most of theirs along with Frank when solo.

Los Angeles, lets go for a ride on a hovercraft like machine.

Melting in the sun and getting lost in time.

So good to see live. The Belvoir in Perth was a mind altering experience.

  • This is top 5 Pixies.

    Ed is Dead.

  • my 80's and 90's would not have been bearable without the Pixies and Sonic Youth, while all my friends listened to chart crap :D the 2nd half of this song is magnificent to me.

  • @discomjim X and Sex Pistols and Gen X helped too in early 80's.

  • @FBlackRules early 80's for me was rude boy stuff :D haha Pork pie hat, sta-press and Madness

  • 0.0

  • Quite possibly the best song ever

  • I like how Effiel's keyboard accompanies the Pixies through time in the outro

  • 8 ancestors of little Alec Eiffel.

  • One of my favorites to dance to back in the day!

  • goose bumps!

  • best song ever?

  • When I first heard this, I played it on repeat for 3 hours.

  • You either "get it" or you don't. This is the only song to bring me in tears EVERY FUCKING TIME in it's sheer beauty, every single fucking time.

  • pixies had their priorities straight. less eyeliner - more practice.

  • always reminds me of an early 90s video game

  • FUCK YOU I LIKE THE ORGAN

  • Only Francis could look at the Eiffel tower, and then write such an awesome song afterwords.

  • The best Pixies song ever. Best finish to a song of all time.. just amazing.

  • i love this video its tripping the fuck out of me

  • this song has been playing in the back of my head for years on end!!! lol.

  • little Eiffel stands in the archway

  • The Pixies are so f___ing rad. Hard to pick a favorite song but you could make a strong case for this one

  • i love the last minute of the song

  • I love that keyboard melody at the end.

Pixies always surprised me, when I thought a song couldn't get any better they just came up with something else that blew my mind.

    Beautiful

  • @espertempo Well put!

  • A band where image means nothing. They could have dressed in wizard costumes and the music would still be so cool it didn't matter. Greatest Pixies song? f*ck yeah!!

  • they thought he was real smart alec

he thought big they called it a phallic

they didn't know he was panoramic

lil eiffel stands in the archway

keeping low doesn't make no sense

    so clever!!

  • ah when they all had hair..

  • I am a mechanical engineer, so I grew up with getting comfortable with the scare factor....go Eiffel you crazy cunt!!!

  • awesome shades 8)

  • This is my song to go to work to if I want to have a good day....a bad day, I listen to lots of Suicide Commando, preferably "Die Mo****F*****, Die." My hard drive is Bi-Polar

  • @stoache

Haha, never thought I would see someone bring up SC on a Pixies video, good job=)

    Haha

  • Oh Alexander, I see you beneath the archway of aerodynamics.

Oh Alexander, I see you beneath the archway of aerodynamics.

Oh Alexander, I see you beneath the archway of aerodynamics.

Oh Alexander, I see you beneath the archway of aerodynamics.

Oh Alexander, I see you beneath the archway of aerodynamics.

Oh Alexander, I see you beneath the archway of aerodynamics.

Oh Alexander, I see you beneath the archway of aerodynamics.

  • my favorite song by these guys. makes me happy.

  • oh alexander i see u beneath the archway of pinoramics

  • 12000 volts right to your brain.

  • Currently my favourite pixies song, Amazing ending!

  • @GreenDay3213 Exactly, the ending part is the best part of the song.......

  • One of the best.

  • Great song, magnificent band. If the Pixies play it, it is good.

  • @captaincolgate777 good? great!

  • One of the only two bands from American Alternative rock I respect (and possibly, if inside Grunge, this is the only decent Grunge band for me)

    This song rules, definitely.

  • @JackBandicootsBunker The term "grunge" doesn't mean anything at all (Pearl Jam and Nirvana sound so completely different but they are the two most famous "grunge" bands)

Don't you think that all these silly sub-genres are very stupid? they are totally meaningless? just silly media invented terms to label the image behind a band :)

  • The outro of this song is brilliant!

  • who's this guy on a keyboard ?

  • @SlayerJan15 My guess is that it is Eric Drew Feldman. He played on the album, and on some of Frank Black's work after the Pixies.

  • Oh, I see, Eiffel is a "pioneer of aerodynamics," so the band is in a wind tunnel.

  • @cythera431 Never even thought of that- good job!

  • little Eiffel, little Eiffel ~~

  • La mejor banda del Planeta!"

  • Bandusta Recoome lat patso nilhoube!

  • 7 Justin bieber fans should be hanged

  • Jesus, this thing sounds like it was recorded in a wind tunnel. Oh, wait...

  • One of the greatest songs in the history of music.

  • i've developed a maintenance addiction to this song. I don't know why it strikes such a chord in me....

  • thoughtful music

  • the guitar feedback / high pitched squeals that kick in at 2.29 are mostly fucking great.

  • 7 people can be oh so dense.

This is my favourite Pixies song, mainly because it's easier to sing in the car than Debaser.

  • @nf1976 No need to make a reference to the dislike bar man.

  • @nf1976 Better make that 9! (Yes, much easier to sing than "Debaser." And "Monkey Gone to Heaven," too!)

  • the Pixies are such a great contemporary band; the sense of dynamics, ethics, and morals i get from this band influence me a great deal.

  • There isn't a Pixies album I don't love. And I had them all when they came out and went to see them in the 80's. This is as good as anything they did.

  • Had to look at the Pixies again after I read that Bowie and the Tin Machine project were inspired by them. I see it now!!!

  • Is this the planet of sound?

  • what for a sooooong. yeaaaah

  • Fuck, I love Pixies.

This song brings so many memories even if I'm not too old.

Also, Frank Black is such a geek and it's amazing.

  • i love the pixies, debasuer and gouge away fan fucking tastic songs.

  • @fatjam27 thats exactly what someone who doesn't know anything about the pixies would say

  • @spameister yeah you gotta know everything about them to listen to them

  • @totaLybeetLeJuice that's not what i meant but thanks for your comment anyway bro.

  • @spameister right? you knob bet you think their best song is the one on fight club. end of the day doolittle's their best album and them 2 songs and no 13 baby are their best songs. may be tame as well. i listled to pixies back in the day. bet your some 15 year old who wasn't even born when they where at their best

  • @fatjam27 well the whole point here was that I don't think that. trompe le monde is the best album by far, with distance equals rate times time being the best song. it's amusing to see how you think being older somehow makes your opinion more valid, when it actually just makes you look like more of a tool.

  • @spameister na you tried to make me out to be a mug, and i clearly am not. look we oth obviously like the pixies. just chill out and enjoy the music

  • @fatjam27 i'm trying to....

  • @fatjam27 i don't think ageist assumptions and prejudice make for giving yourself much of a sense of ethos to debate with.

additionally, i tip my hat to anyone with a taste in music that fits Pixies in, considering the amount of trash kids listen to.

  • I never get tired of Alel Eiifel.

  • our world needs more musical groups like the pixies.

  • 1:18 The reason words can no longer describe the greatness of the Pixies

  • Comment removed

  • oh alexander i see you beneath

    the archway of aerodynamics.

  • Oh Mama I love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • woooooow

  • People always trash Frank for taking control of the band and the music, but judging by Bossanova and Trompe Le Monde, it wasn't a bad thing.

  • @Transmissionwould

Indeed. I enjoy the second two albums just as much as the first two. It's certainly different but not worse at all.

  • At 1:33 the Pixies successfully opened a portal where music and spoken word are the same!D=

  • Fuckin' awesome!!

  • I love how all of the comments on this are legitimate and civil.

  • @hr5556

Pixies fans are a good breed :)

  • @hr5556 I wholeheartedeldy concur.

  • @hr5556 Maybe it`s because the fanbase tends to gravitate to legitimate & civil talent.

  • This is the best video ever

  • best song ever in the entire universe

  • ERIC DREW FELDMAN IS A GENIUS ON KEYBOARDS!

HE'S THE MAIN REASON THE OUTRO MAKES YOU WANNA ORGASM

  • didn't eard something like this from smells like teen spirit

  • keeping low doesn't make no sense, the 6 people who hit dislike are oh so dense.....

  • Kim`s base is fuckin` tough, and I`m a metalhead!

  • The Pixies at the height of the powers - truly epic.

  • "love it" -me

  • @ paajtor pixies at their best? when where they at their worst?

  • FRANK y!

  • Everytime I hear the outro it takes me back to the first time I ever heard the outro... A magical place I can assure you. Such a timeless song that you cant wear out.

  • just dreamy :)

  • Can somebody tell me (or Jann Wenner for that matter): How In The Hell Are The Pixies Not In The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame? It can be argued that the three most influential U.S. bands of the 1980's underground-college-alternative music scene were: R.E.M., Husker Du and (The) Pixies & only R.E.M. is in the Hall! What a goddamn disgrace!! All The Pixies did was chart the course for punk/grunge/hard rock for the next two decades! Even their videos kick ass & THEY HATED MAKING VIDEOS! Love This Band

  • @solord I'm gonna quote the Pistols when they say that the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame is "a piss stain".

  • @Snakeyx How right you are, or should I say how right Johnny Rotten is. I guess asking for a little fairness when judging this bullshit rock & roll beauty contest is asking a bit much, especially when it requires kissing Mr. Wenner's ass for that matter. Good point, Snakeyx.

  • @solord Yeah, I stopped giving a fuck about the so called "Rock & Roll Hall of Fame" a long time ago. It's all just an example of how devious the music industry has become, because it's administered by big fat executives who put the money in front of any sense or artistic values (not saying that the artists inducted in there are like this, just the people behind the whole organization).

  • @Snakeyx Well it wasn't like those arrogant, greedy little fucks weren't warned at least 20 years in advance that the technology was going to change the music business. When CD's first came out, they told us that it would lower the cost of packing and producing records. While it did, they still jacked up the prices of music. With computers, internet & DIY distribution, production & touring & file sharing, all these sorry-ass music execs business models are screaming poverty. Payback's a bitch!

  • @solord The worst is that most artists signed to major record companies only receive 6% (!!!) of a sale of a CD... That's what I call fucked up!!!

  • @Snakeyx If they get even that - I thought the rate was 2.5% - 4% (2.5% - 3% on the first or debut album)? Gee, how kind of the labels to open their purse strings to the musicians who have to spend weeks (sometimes months) recording in studio that they eventually have to pay for and have to (more often than not) prematurely go out on tour to promote a CD that may not be ready for release! You wouldn't frame a painting that wasn't finished to your satisfaction. All in the name of profits. Sucks!

  • @solord Well, I'm all for bands touring more, that's how I spend my money on music. And in live gigs, the musicians receive a higher fee. That's why I'm all for internet piracy!

  • Just saw them at UCSD last month, all older stuff though. This however is a great song from my favorite Pixies record. Trompe Le Monde is the best! Frank Blacks solo stuff that followed is worth a listen too most definitely. Teenager of the Year in particular.Do yourself a favor a buy it.

  • best synth in history of music

  • best one
